He is emphasizing our foundation. Without it, nothing that is built afterward will stand.

The atonement is the most important thing. It is the very heart of the gospel.
Yes, I already mentioned that the atonement is our foundation. But where's the building? All 777's posts seem to be centered on the foundation as if it's the all in all answer for the Christian.

If it is only what He has DONE or DID for us then we are missing out on what He is DOING and will DO in us. That's my point, no need to ride on one track.
I'm going to change my wording from "finished" to "completed" so that it doesn't offend anyone. What Jesus Christ has already done and what He is doing are exactly the same things. This is the whole reason for getting our minds renewed, it is to see Christ in us which Paul said is the mystery of the gospel. Paul in some form or other talked about believers being in Christ 140x times.

Lynn...it's too bad that your malice ( which is defined as ill-will towards someone ) is robbing you of what the OP is saying. Now you can malign the messenger all you want but in reality you are only hurting yourself.

The whole point of the OP is to encourage people to not let the enemy beat them up about their failures and to instead look at what Jesus did for us! If this offends you - then I would suggest you not even bother looking into threads like that.

The whole purpose of the OP is to encourage people in the Lord and if some people have some ill-will ( malice ) toward the one that made up the OP - then I suggest people take it to the Lord as they are only hurting themselves.
Bupkis! Joseph Prince is not a member of CC. You are the OP. (It means "original post" or "original poster," so since you posted the original post, it's you, not Prince.) And you just nudged this whole thing off course into your own personal path.

Suddenly, instead of being offended by Prince's lie, (which is where I was and remain), you just turned this into calling me a liar in a round-about/passive-aggressive scam yourself. You took the truth and twisted it just enough to infer, (without the gall to imply or out-and-out say it, which in itself is passively creating a lie without owning it), I take it back. You aren't a nice guy. You are the stereotypical used-car salesman that gives a bad name to used-car sales people.

You're promoting a lie and now you're telling me to not mention it. Sillier still, you didn't have the honesty to even say that, because you're promoting a pyramid scheme.

Isn't it? Whatever comes after, Jesus will carry it on to completion - no matter what. (Philippians 1:6)

We all have our place, and role, in God's family. We all emphasize different things. One plants, another waters. Be satisfied with what you yourself are called to do.

Actually I post a lot about growing up in Christ. I have told you a number of times that the finished ( now changed to completed ) work of Christ is the death and resurrection of Christ and all that entails.

I speak about the foundation and about the building up in Him too. You are just stumbling over the term "finished".

I have posted this scripture and talked about it at least 50x times in the last 7 months.

Colossians 2:6-7 (NASB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
[SUP]7 [/SUP] having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.

Anyway...please do not de-rail this thread. If the OP offends you - just walk away and let others talk about the purpose of the OP...thank you.

I am asking people to please respect the OP and talk about the OP... which is about the enemy telling us lies and that we are not to listen to the lies but to what our Lord has already done for us in His perfect, completed work on the Cross and in His resurrection.

If people want to attack me or the one who wrote the OP - then you can start a thread of your own about it.

( I have asked the mods to stop this behavior)

Thank you
.

Yes and thank you Jesus!

people need to realize that these things are going on in our minds...which is why the verse refers to bringing our thoughts into CAPTIVITY to the OBEDIENCE of Christ

wondering what folks's thoughts are on that? how do we do that?

love this topic!

Amen...this is where Christians have our battles - in our minds with the constant attacks that are trying to bring us back into the former manner of thinking and living.

Having our minds renewed to the truth is paramount to experiencing a quality life here on this earth that is available to us in Christ now. The very life of Christ is in us!

Are not those things based on what he has already completed? How can we trust he is working, and will work, if we do not trust first he has completed the work in our salvation?

really good point (s) !

Jesus has done so much for us in His COMPLETED work that we could spend the rest of our lives talking about it and living it and eternity praising Him for it...oh wait...that sounds like a plan

Amen!...Actually our Father will be showing us things about the Lord's completed work for us in the ages to come. It's completed as far as God goes but He is unveiling all that Christ is to us in all the ages to come. Each new fresh revelation of Jesus will astound us.

Ephesians 2:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

It's completed as far as God goes but He is unveiling all that Christ is to us in all the ages to come. Each new fresh revelation of the grace of God in Jesus will astound us. The theologian Dr. Martyn LLoyd-Jones said it well.

so...always been interested in the armor...putting on the armor...found in Ephesians 6

Helmet of salvation...(funny how it mentions salvation...prob cause salvation means everything Christ has done for us and not such our introduction when we accepted Him as our Savior)

And take the helmet of salvation, (6:17a)The fifth piece of God’s armor is represented by the Roman soldier’s helmet, without which he would never enter battle. Some of the helmets were made of thick leather covered with metal plates, and others were of heavy molded or beaten metal. They usually had cheek pieces to protect the face.
The purpose of the helmet, of course, was to protect the head from injury, particularly from the dangerous broadsword commonly used in the warfare of that day. That was not the much smaller sword mentioned later in this verse, but was a large two–handed, double–edged sword (rhomphaia, see Rev. 1:16; 2:12; 6:8) that measured three to four feet in length. It was often carried by cavalrymen, who would swing at the heads of enemy soldiers to split their skulls or decapitate them.
The fact that the helmet is related to salvation indicates that Satan’s blows are directed at the believer’s security and assurance in Christ. The two dangerous edges of Satan’s spiritual broadsword are discouragement and doubt. To discourage us he points to our failures, our sins, our unresolved problems, our poor health, or to whatever else seems negative in our lives in order to make us lose confidence in the love and care of our heavenly Father.
you can get more complicated than that simple explanation; the Bible is a rich resource of itself...here is an interesting verse from the OT

“He put” a helmet of salvation upon his head.” Isaiah 59:17 (LXX version...Septuagint) there are other 'armor' parts mentionned in that passage as well, but since this is about thoughts, just mentioning the helmet

That will stop those pesky lies of the enemy from taking root in our heads by focusing on Christ and His great salvation.

I heard a saying one time that stuck with me. Thoughts are like birds - you can't stop them from flying past your head but you can stop them from making a nest in your head.

Sometimes when I look in on these threads in which posts have been reported all I can do is shake my head in disbelief. It's no wonder that persons outside the church look in and reject our Lord when they see how His people poorly represent Him by bickering like children.

Invariably it is near impossible for us as staff members to quash much of this bickering because so much of it travels from one thread to the next with two separate doctrinal factions perpetually at each others throats and perpetually reporting each others posts.

We are left with two options:

A) Do nothing.

B) Ban all users involved on both sides because when push comes to shove, none of them are innocent.

I really am hoping that some of you will begin to search you hearts and seek the Lord in determining what YOU can do to reduce the non-stop fighting within this forum.

Some of you may not believe this but it is entirely possible for adults with diametrically opposed viewpoints to sit down and discuss their views without being rude, condescending, or outright nasty towards each other.

did you read where i said ONLY? Even Scripture gives us a broader picture than 'what He has done"

i totally agree, each seem to have their emphasis, Jesus is much larger than our own emphasis...I hope we can admit that much.

yet once fallen, humans were expected to grow, not to live in judgement of an other human. yet how many different laws are we expected to juggle in a political correct world. ie (nimrod) so expect trouble , to the mods, etc

The devil is not called the “accuser of our brethren” for nothing (Revelation 12:10). When you’ve done wrong, he will remind you of it day and night. Even when you’ve done right, he will tell you that it wasn’t good enough.

The enemy just loves to bring up your failures, to put a spotlight on how your behavior has disqualified you from God’s acceptance, love and blessings. He loves to heap condemnation upon you and give you a sense of guilt and distance from God. He knows that the more condemnation and guilt you experience, the more likely you are to feel alienated from God and to live life defeated.

Beloved, the only way out of this vicious circle of defeat is to put the spotlight on the finished work of Jesus. Bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ at the cross. Through His perfect obedience and death at the cross, He has taken away your condemnation and qualified you to receive God’s acceptance, love and blessings forevermore!

Using Joseph Prince to spread the Gospel is like trying to dip a glass of pure fresh water out of the sewer. I suggest you take a long, hard look at what's floating in that glass before you drink it.

One could do a better job preaching out of a Watchtower Bible.
