really the whole book of 1st john you've quoted from says it as do so many passages clearly from the nt as well as old. the change is not Gods mercy to sin, but the change is the condemnation of sin that once lived in us. to obey the spirit is to walk after it with the body, to serve God in the spirit is to act in righteousness. The trouble is people think the spirit is not really new, or has no real power to change a life. actions of the believer are important and will determine whether grace is saving, or refused. Grace forced, it is offered and either accepted or denied. righteousness is a gift, it is either accepted or denied.

Now what is it to be "In Christ" ? where there is no condemnation? according to the very plain and clear scriptures 1 john 2:3-6? to be in Christ, is to obey His commands and His commands are not burdensome, how is that possible? by accepting the spirit of God offered through faith in Jesus, AND following that spirit with our actions now in this life.

I choose not to ignore what it says because I find a few appealing verses. yes it came by Christ. the free gift as ive said, is the new spirit that makes sinners, righteous. not an invisable righteousness, but an actual righteousness. the gift is now I'm not bound to the old man who rebelled by nature, Now I have the nature of Gods Son living in me, I believe what God says, and you also Have that choice. this verse you quote supports exactly what I'm saying, exactly what God says. you've been given the gift of righteousness. will a person accept it, or deny it. will they live it or choose sin. So, I think if you believe that walking in the Spirit is practicing Gnosticism, it would indicate a dependance on your flesh instead?

Maybe you could better express yourself somehow by examining the scriptures above and then quoting the ones you disagree with so that I can better understand how you believe that the Holy Spirit is practicing Gnosticism inside of believers

Lets put this verse in Romans 8 with a verse in 1 John 3. This may help to understand that 1 John 3 is actually telling us that we cannot sin (except for in our flesh which is considered dead in Romans 8:11) after having received the Spirit. (saved)

Can't sin because he is "born of God" (Spirit).

And we can also question why James even says to pray for those who are not in good health and IF they have sinned, they shall be forgiven...
Or as well, why James 5:13-20 is spoken to a believing body of which there might be those who have sinned?


And why is it written, if anyone says he is without sin, the TRUTH is not in him?


I do not condone sin..it isn't something that anyone wants to fall back into...but there are some who are weak and our work(if we claim to be spiritual giants is to restore our weaker brother...

But there is a catch, sir...it is WHEN WE SEE OUR BROTHER/SISTER sin, when we see it...not to go and accuse them of it until we see it.

we can't sit and judge one another; we have no basis for it -- Matthew 7:17-19 is very much the truth, but the Lord has declared that a thing which happens in the heart, that no man sees but God, is also the fruit of a good tree.

what you quoted is very much the truth, but it is not a basis for judging one another. that remains the sole prerogative of the Lord.

How is it that you offer this to those who belong to HIS body suggesting that they are doing less than you?
Are you doing more then?

I don't understand if you are helping and in service to CHRIST or helping and in service to yourself...

And leaves us with only boasting in HIM
If you say you are walking in the light, you are walking in THE TRUTH and have FELLOWSHIP with your brothers and sisters.
And...if you say you are without sin, what happens? The TRUTH is not in you...

Isn't it unbelievable how HE has made HIS WORD AWESOME!

haha I do believe the bible that's my point. I choose not to ignore what it says because I find a few appealing verses. yes it came by Christ. the free gift as ive said, is the new spirit that makes sinners, righteous. not an invisable righteousness, but an actual righteousness. the gift is now I'm not bound to the old man who rebelled by nature, Now I have the nature of Gods Son living in me, I believe what God says, and you also Have that choice. God says and always has said, Jesus said, the apostles said. do what is right and you will live, follow the corrupt nature of adam and you will die.

this verse you quote supports exactly what I'm saying, exactly what God says. you've been given the gift of righteousness. will a person accept it, or deny it. will they live it or choose sin. Now we have a choice, the free gift of eternal life, or to return to the imparted death that came through adam? the misteaching of grace sets minds against Gods true word. makes obedience somehow an evil or wrong, that is 100 percent not of God. free gift isn't forced on anyone but an extended hand offering eternal life, accepting that Gift includes believing what God says about obedience to His word. He will never change, His grace changed us so that we are free to live right in His eyes. in relationship with Him through the power of the holy spirit. we posses righteousness, and are also commanded to accept it and live it. so I would repeat what you said. you are free to believe what Gods word says.

I thought it was impossible with men but only with GOD?
I thought we are GOD'S WORKMANSHIP created in CHRIST JESUS unto good works which HE prepared in advance that we should walk in?

I also thought that we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling?

But also remember the second part of that above scripture I paraphrased regarding our working out our own salvation...because many forget the remaining part which says, for it is GOD who worketh in us to will and to do HIS GOOD PLEASURE...
