It takes much more than just believing that Jesus Christ is God, and he came to make it so we can become Children of God. To become a Child of God one has to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will teach, and give one the grace to keep God’s Commandments.

(Romans 8:1-4) “The reason, therefore, why those who are in Christ Jesus are not condemned, is that the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. God has done what the Law, because of our unspiritual nature, was unable to do. God dealt with sin by sending his own Son in a body as physical as any sinful body, and in that body God condemned sin he did this in order the Law’s just demands might be satisfied in us, who behave not as our unspiritual nature but as the spirit dictates.”

When one is obeying God at all times then he or she becomes a Child of God.

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God. In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s”

Notice if one sins he or she is a child of the devil.
There is some truth in that but it's incomplete...because have you ever sinned since becoming a Christian? If so..then according to your "application" of this scripture - you are a child of the devil.

It doesn't say "If anyone does not continually sin" as some translations say to water it down because it is in the present tense - it says that a child of God cannot sin at all - not once let alone a million times. Present tense is always present tense. Now is always going to be now.

Maybe it has something to do with the new man in Christ - created in righteousness and holiness and the fact that sin is confined to the flesh and Paul calls it "the deeds of the flesh".

Understanding the circumcision of the flesh and heart done by the Holy Spirit when He sealed us in Christ when we believed is needed to understand this verse as well as this one below.

1 John 5:18 (NASB)
[SUP]18 [/SUP] We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

So then, the devil is your father? Is that what you're saying?
Do you always use a straw man argument when you don’t have scripture to rebuke the truth you don’t want to hear?

My faith.
I am a charismatic evangelical.
I am an evolution creationist.
Salvation is by faith alone with good works as the fruit of transformation
We are called to live a life of love to God, our fellow believers, our neighbours and our enemies.
I am a mixture of armenism and calvanism, actually a mirror of EG positions ( discovered this months back )
I believe in the ability to walk righteously throught the work Christ does in our hearts as a result of obedience and love.
I am a post melenialist.
We are called to live in purity and righteousness, as a sign of the power within.
The spiritual gifts are to support and encourage this walk.

Ofcourse I could go into more detail about how are we save, predestination, being called and choosing Christ etc.
I am open to anyone to show me my failing and short comings, which there are many, but it is hard to know what to do when being attacked constantly from so many angles which do not make sense or are even resolvable.

Stop poking your gonna derail this thread...if you must poke do it in his own thread..then you can hear about how he is sinless for years. Or something, didn't visit long enough to figure it out yet.

You can listen to the stories about Jesus talking to him on his couch, etc.
As has been said in the past, if anyone here has found out the secret to living sinless in the here and now, ever single Christian here is all ears. They want to be set free from sin, they want to walk in complete victory. To live a year without sin, or even a month (some would argue a day) would be amazing. If someone here is walking sinless, every moment of every single day in their own actions, thoughts, and deeds, they have a moral obligation to share their secret. Unfortunately, those that think they do are walking in denial.

Let me make a bold statement. You agree with hyper-grace in general.
Lets just say, I have seen alot of accusations brought up against them, which I have seen proven as lies. And from what I see, we have the same GOSPEL, other than that, I can not comment, because i have not studied them, nor ever seen a need to.

You agree with parts of calvanism and armeniasm.
That would prety much describe every christian. if we really get down to it..so really does not show anything.

You believe is OSAS and think those who do not are legalists.
They are.. but this is just not a blank statement, I have backed those words with why I believe this way many times over

Your father was a pastor,
Hmm, he was, thats news to me.

and you oppose what his church stands for.
Hmm, Where did you get this, I appose some people who were in my church, and what they stood for. But the church itself, I had no problem with..

You were a legalist but now feel free in the grace you have.
I was exposed to legalism, and was brought down by it, I saw many people destroyed by it,, Se yes, Like Paul I was freed by the danger brought on by legalism.

Everyday you feel you sin which in your language is do selfish things, for which you feel bad.
If one does not see this, They have along way to go towards spiritual maturity.

so yes, I do not try to walk around excusing my sin..

You evangelise and want fervently to rid the church of legalism.
shouldnt we all? Why don't you want to do this? you claim your not a legalist, so why are you not fighting legalism as hard as you are this so called "greasy grace" you are fighting?

Now this is drawn from interactions over the past year. Now you could have moved on some of these, but this is my broad summary of what you have openly declared.
Whats my gospel? What do I think a person needs to do to get to heaven?

ps, I have not changed anything.. since we started discusing

If a person possibly doesn't have the resources to properly understand something, is it wrong to point out that possibility? No. If she or anyone else wants to take it the wrong way, that's their choice.

of course we do not agree with everything you just posted. but that has NEVER been the issue.

you still do not see, You attack people and what you think they believe, and this is what gets you in trouble

example.

We do not believe a person should walk in righteousness, or learn to grow in christ and be free of sin, We call you a legalist because you preach obedience.

both are lies. Yet you never claim these lies are lies..

They don't want him to accept hyper grace, just for him to stop shoving birds in their face.
It is an interesting idea. It is also wrong. If I simply tell people the gospel and they say I am unsaved, and then call me to repent, they want me to become like them.

So many times I am told I slander and insult, when it is actually normally they are laying into someone else and I am just saying it is being unfair. But funnily if you get involved with bullies you tend to get bullied. After a time they provoke so much you end up using their tactics and then they start saying victim.

It really does not matter. I have declared what I believe and declared my understanding of EG.

But I know his agenda, which is just push I am evil and lost and he is saved and resolved. But I always live in hope or else I would not spend time and effort contributing here.

my only problem with peter is how he treats people. And how he tried to say he knows what they believe, but he does not. and is for whatever reason to proud to admit he may be wrong.

Other than that, I do see alot of common ground we could base a lot of good discussions on if he would just see he is misrepresenting some people

The other person.. well.. Thats another story altogether..

John said one who is in Jesus Christ lives as Jesus lived. Jesus did not sin at all. John said a Child of God cannot sin. He did not say that a Child of God just does not practice sin.

People who are not being led by the Holy Spirit and want to be righteous, need to believe one will always continue to sin some times. These people have to change what scripture says or ignore scripture that tells them they are of the devil if they sin.

(1 John 2:5-6) “Whoever says, 'I know him' without keeping his commandments, is a liar, and truth has no place in him. But anyone who does keep his word, in such a one God's love truly reaches its perfection. This is the proof that we are in God. Whoever claims to remain in him must act as he acted.”

(Romans 8:1-4) “The reason, therefore, why those who are in Christ Jesus are not condemned, is that the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. Do you have me on ignore? You've ignored two of my posts so far. One requesting of you some honesty and the other for you to summarize my beliefs. lol

Not one person has ever told you to become like them, That just another lie Peter. this gets old.

Alll people have ever asked you is to understand why they believe the way they do, and stop harrassing them with the slander of telling them they believe things they do not believe.

not even worth responding to.
It really does not matter. I have declared what I believe and declared my understanding of EG.
and yet again, You were proven wrong, and still have not showed what my gospel is..

But I know his agenda,

Thanks, you proved what I have been saying, You know everything about me,, (even though it has proven, you hardly know me at all. let alone my intentions)

which is just push I am evil and lost and he is saved and resolved./
Nope. another lie, false accusations and slanderous evil accusation which is not true.

But I always live in hope or else I would not spend time and effort contributing here.
We live in hope also peter.. That one day the light will come on.. and you will stop slandering people

The scriptures being quoted are in your post in which people are responding to.

In answer to the above post:

How does one become righteous?

So, you never sinned then since you became a Christian? If you have sinned - then you are a child of the devil according to your "Application" of scripture.

What are Jesus' commandments? There is a lot more to this then meets the casual eye.

Anyway..this is not a part of this OP so if you want to discuss this...start a thread and I'd be happy to talk with you about it in there. Thanks!

God chastens and scourges those He loves. Is that what you mean?

Finding out what the word "chasten" and "scourges" means is major. Does the way Jesus was "scourged" by the Roman soldiers translate the same for believers when we are "chastened" by our Father? Some people believe so. I am not one of them.
