When you go to church, the pastor eats bread and drinks wine, but most of the time in common churches it's only the pastor who does so, and maybe some of the other pastors.

I bought a bottle of wine today, like I sometimes do and planned drinking some.
Taking a glass out of the cupboard I noticed our daily bread laying on the shelf.

The light went on.

So I ate some bread and drank some wine.

The Bible states Jesus recommended his disciples to do the same to remember him.

Do you eat bread and drink wine? I'm planning on doing so every week at least.

To be honest, it gives quite a saturated feeling.

My best wishes.

If you're feeling "saturated," then you're drunk..lol..... You don't need to take sacrament every week, especially at home, to have a remembrance of God. :) If you choose to do so anyway, my suggestion is get grape juice instead, and a little shot glass, instead of a big wine glass. Then you won't get drunk..lol

I'm not drunk and I don't know why I would need tiny shot glasses if I would use grape juice instead.

I meant spiritually saturated, whatever that means.

Evangelical church do not use real wine, they use grape juice. Some have communion once a month and some every Sunday and everyone who is a believe takes part, not just the preacher.

The church doesn't use wine glasses, they use small shot glasses. You don't need a big full glass of wine, or grape juice for that matter.

Communion in church:

- A small glass (as said above, a "shot glass") or wine/ grape juice,
(or in some churches: a shared goblet, one sip for each. )
- A piece of bread (or that dry cracker thingy)

If you drink a glass of wine now and then and enjoy it: Good for you! but that's not what a communion is about :)
Just keep in mind that weekly alcohol consumption isn't a good thing. (There are non alcoholic alternatives)

That is so very strange to me. What sort of church do you attend?

As far as I know... the only church I know that from is a catholic lol
Catholics share the cup, which I would never ever do and the priest finishes anything that is left over. They use the real thing so I'm sure they're flying by the time they leave church.

Jesus shared his cup with his disciples also. Is it a matter of hygene why you wouldn't share?

Willie-T, most common churches around here are catholic.

The pastor eats bread and drinks wine/grape juice (I don't really know which one of both) and the people going to church receive a small round white bread thingy. These masses are quite mundane to be honest. Nothing like a flamboyant gospel church where everybody is singing and praising.

Yes, it is. My mother was a nurse and we were taught to never use someone elses cup or utensils.

The early Church remembered the Lord's death upon the Cross (ie. the Eucharist) daily in their own houses!

Acts 2v46: "So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart..."

What was good enough for the early Church is certainly good enough for His Church in this day and age!

It is something I have done in my home not only with others but also on my own!

Nah, Catholics get bread/wafers. And nowadays they get shot-glass wine every so often. They're actually the only church I've ever gone to that has communion every single week.

In our old church -- being in South Philly, home to many great bakeries -- our bread was the good stuff. New York Bakery's bread. (Yes, I see the irony. lol) We were charged with buying it. I don't know who brought the wine, but I knew it came from a wine store. And since we were a poor little church, we used Dixie cups, instead of shot-glasses. (No one wanted to wash all those glasses. lol)

Would YOU want 100 other people's slobber? You don't where or who their mouths have been on. :/ That's how AIDS and STD's get spread, through bodily fluids such as saliva..

When I was taking a chemo regimen, I took communion 15 times a week for two months. 14 of those times were at my house. It was because a friend had a thought come to her that it was something I should do during that time.

We do so every weekend at our church. But I dont think there is a command as to where communion is to be taken. I think either way is acceptable as long as we are remembering Him.
