The High Priest could only enter the Holy of Holies 1 time a year, on the Day of Atonement

Were there other times that they were allowed to access the room? for example routine cleaning or to get the ark of the covenant before battle?

It had to be accessed every time the tabernacle moved.

the point is that it could only be accessed once a year for ritual purposes.

are you saying it could be entered anytime, but only 1 time a year in regard to atonement?
this was the dwelling of God, between the cherubs of the Mercy seat. it was God desire to be among his people. this is a representation to the Throne of God, where now our high priest "Jesus Christ" is eternally seated at the right hand of the father. Man being sinful by nature cannot be in the presence of God if he was resting upon the mercy seat. Maybe God only rested upon the Mercy seat on occasion. I would hate to walk in at the wrong time
 
Never thought about that cleaning bit :p but for moving:

If I remember correctly, the signal for them to move was that the pillar of smoke / fire lifted and moved.
... which would mean that God was at that point no longer in the holiest holy ... so they could then enter it

now we are getting contradicting stories
I think we also have to establish that the tabernacle was established and not moved for many years during the time of Judges after possessing the promise land but when in battle with the Philistines they would get the Ark of the Covenant and carry it with them in battle

How if they only entered the Most Holy place 1 time a year did they fetch the ark for battle?

I am incline to believe if the presence of God was not on the tabernacle they could enter the Most Holy Place... but I am no authority.. just thinking
 
But isn't the altar of incense also there, and the high priest burned incense everyday upon that altar? Morning and evening? It could have happened even though only once a year he went in for atonement purposes.

It only figures that when the tabernacle was moved, it was dismantled by more than just Aaron. He could not have done it by himself (one man?)

Yes, every time from heaven that God willed it be moved he caused it to moved to show he is not served by human hands/wills. The consequences of moving it according to their own will were astronomical, many died, even if they simply touched it.

The book of the law, the bible which was placed on the outside of the ark revealed what was inside, hidden from view, sort of like a parable.. The book became the final authority in matters of the faith of Christ used in any generation to reform his bride the church. Some accredit that reforming succession to men that they call apostolic succession . They would be false apostles bringing a false gospel, as a gospel of men and not of Christ alone the anointing Holy Spirit of God. .They blaspheme the holy name of God by which we are called heavenward.

Hi

The Levitical priesthood was as if it was one man. Like the persecution Saul had against Christ that he before his conversion persecuted that outwardly in respect to itsfollowers. The Leviticus priesthood isthe priesthood of all believers it typifies us as Kings (someone needs to tell my wifelol) as a whole kingdom of priests sentas ambassadors for Christ. It’s how he sees us as new creatures, as Kings/priests , male and female, Jew and Gentile alike according to the reformed headship order.. . in 1 Corinthian11

The altar of incense was in the holy place with the candlestick and table of showbread. The ark was in the holy of holies behind the vail.

I have not heard this before. I understood that Aaron's rod, the unbroken tablet that God inscribed with the ten commandments, a pot of Mana, all inside. I assumed the commandments were re written by Moses when he wrote the Pentateuch and shared among the scribes and priest.
I have never heard it taught that this was kept in the most Holy place
 
Nope, the book or scrolls were not in the most holy place, they could only enter once a year so what good would they do. The scrolls were used to teach them and guide them, King David knew them well and studied them on a daily basis they were not in the Most Holy Place. Only the original tablets and the pot of manna and Aaron's rod that budded are in the ark.
