Perhaps but most Reformed, Lutheran and Anglican/Episcopals have strayed way further from Scripture than most Evangelicals.the positions of the modern christian churches are more Roman catholic as opposed to the historical protestant faith.

Have you attended all modern churches?Magenta. I think it's a universal issue across all modern churches. if I may ask, what congregation do you attend?
first I would say that the core teachings of protestant churches are no longer taught in the congregations. the teachings of justification, election, original sin, the commandments are not a primary focus. the works of the magisterial reformers are not being used in the congregations.
You have take a very select few to represent many and that is plainly wrong. After the church service today I was invited over to my pastor's house for lunch with his wife, family, and a few other congregants. The interchange of thoughts and ideas was quite lively, with many wonderful authors highly spoken of by my pastor during part of the afternoon when the conversation turned to such things. None of them fell anywhere near the camp of Joel Osteenthough I haven't attended all modern churches, the predominant view amoung modern writers, evangelical leaders like Joel orsteen, max lucado, John hagen and others don't represent the historical protestant faith. their theology is more Roman catholic than protestant.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for the Dutch reformed, many American churches have moved away from its historical positions.
just the opposite....I believe the message of the Gospel isn't being preached. the historical protestant churches preach on justification by faith, election by God and the depravity of sin. subjects that are barley discussed.

I would even say the modern Roman catholic congregations don't represent the positions they held at trent.
