We live in a world that the cost to survive continues to spiral out of control. So invariably everyone who is earning minimum wages feel in order to survive they need to increase wages or at worst I may need to get a second job to take care of my expenses. The thing most of those people fail to realize is this simple truth. When minimum wages increases the cost of everything shifts upward to compensate for the change. Guess what we are right back where we started crying out to increase wages yet again. However, what if we did this instead. What if we could regulate cost of living into something far more manageable. We impose it on necessity items such as housing transportation and food all other expenses get offered at a fair price now wages don't have to be high to compensate for high cost to live. The other thing we must look at is a lot of services offered are overpriced why so the corporate big wigs can line their pockets. Greed runs deep in most corporately run businesses. So a fair way to do things would be lower cost of services across the board reduce greed of big wigs to make things more bearable for the average consumer. Most of you may think of this as communism, but rationally this idea has merit.

The reason your money doesn't go as far is because it has been devalued with debt....intentionally I might add. The real answer is to abolish the fed and issue a new debt free currency backed by gold. The minimum wage issue is a distraction from the fact that you have been had, ripped off, made into a slave of corporate capitalism.

Yeah that would work to brother. I was just stating one way to fix the problem. It's definitely not print more money and it's definitely not raise minimum wage. I guarantee you if the big wigs and politicians had to live like our poor they'd change things quickly.

When you fix prices and limit profits you create shortages.
If you can not live on minimum wage, learn a trade, do a better job than others, become an asset to the company you work for.
Most people who continue to make minimum wage do so because that is all they are worth.

It's really pretty sad how we have allowed them to take control of the money system. It would take A LOT of pain and suffering to set it right I am afraid.

Yeah, right. There was no cost of living increase this year for those in need because "they" said the price of gas was on the decline, yet every time a new Congress convenes the first order of business is increased salaries for them all.

I want to learn a trade or get a degree to be able to make more money. I work in a factory and the pay is a joke. I get paid .75 per chair boxed. When I have plenty of chairs to box it's great I make good money. However, when the amountof chairs produced ffor the week makes my check less than minimum wage it's impossible to survive. I am broke and can't go to school to get a trade or degree and have been turned down for grants and loans in the past so I'm pretty stuck unless I get divine intervention or a better job I have put in applications but gotten nowhere with any of them

The average worker bee hasn't seen an effective raise since Reagan was in office. In the meantime, corporate executive compensation has soared. So has the amount of money corporations have stashed offshore. Most of the middle class jobs that were lost in the 'great recession' have been replaced with low/minimum wage jobs. The middle class is no longer the largest economic class in the U.S.

The sad fact of the matter is that those in power have decided that we will compete in the global economy with 3rd world countries, by becoming one.

Not sure how it is in your state but as far as electrical goes here, you have to find a electrical shop to sponsor you in an apprenticeship program and you do 4 years on the job training as well as schooling to get your journeyman license. Journeyman around here make 25 to 35 an hour plus bennies.

Any construction trade pays well and those who are versatile and can do it all will always be in high demand.

I've been an electrician for 26 years and 14 have been self employed. In my opinion it is the best of all the trades because it teaches you so much about every aspect of construction, design etc. And it is very diversified as far as the differing aspects of it such as industrial, commercial, residential and agricultural.

Oh ok I may want to check into doing that. I have tried getting into some places before construction wise like carpenters and painters they said get experience first I then said how when all the companies said that I needed experience first you can't get experience without working fir it they said not my problem I thought how very nice of them. They were jerks so I stopped trying to go into construction not making excuses just saying I did what I had to to survive

It's like anything else. You start at the bottom and have to work your way up and gain the respect of the "ticket" holders. Anticipating the next move and being a good helper is key.

Thats great man....knowing how to use tools and having a leg up on that is an advantage for you. Sell that but don't over sell it. What I would do if I were you is pester every single electrical shop in your area until they hire you so you'll quit calling them. Lol.

Start as a laborer/helper. That is what I did at 17. I worked hard, did everything I was told, and learned.
By the time I was 21 I was a sight manager and at 27 I became a private contractor.
I inversted a lot of money in tools and equipment over the years.
I now work when I want on what I want and make $30 to $40 per hour.
A lot of hard work, long hours, and study. I still take any opportunity to learn something new.
BUT, these computers have me stumped.

I know computers well I can even program on them mostly basic stuff but I can do it could get work in that but I don't have a paper proving I can do it. That's the crazy thing having to attend school to get a paper for something you already know how to do

I have skills in a lot of areas but no way to prove I have those skills I can do basic construction, computers, cut hair, color hair, do nails, sew, cook, and I can also repair and build electronics I collected many skills over the years but I have no way to show proof of that fact
