k, this is something ive thought about, and ive heard to many times, Cute Not Hot,

i personally see alot of pros and cons for both sides, but iu want to see what kind of response i get here before i say tooo much.

I think the qualuty or characteristc HOT is way over rated, and would gladly take cute over Hot any day, there is something to be said about the physical sex appeal, but its deffinitly over rated, and in most cases very dangerous and it can lead you blindly.....compare it to pouring salt vs a band aid over a wound!....Im messed lol

I think cute is better than hot. It's like comparing a miniature french poodle (cute) with a dalmatian wearing a blonde wig and makeup (hot).

and yeah I dont understand it. It's like anything ugly or average, if you miniturise it, becomes attractive. Which explains why women like wearing small or tight clothes. But I'm not rejecting hot, I just think it ranks second place to cute.

Are we talking about which word is better to use to describe the opposite gender?

If so, "cute" is too girly to say. "Hot" is too lustful. "Pretty" is a good word.

I dont like the word cute, to me thats what you would say to describe a baby or a child. I'm not crazy about the word hot either, but as a woman i would rather be called hot, than cute. I've gotten called cute alot and everytime it kinda makes me cringe cause i think, im not a little kid! You call little kids cute!!

Understand nods my head Hoever Im talking about the difffernce of what the two words mean in a sexual attraction sort of way.....It makes a huge differenfce....average guys....get called cute all the time for that reason......awee you so cute......I personlly dont set physical attraction as my number one priority when looking for or considering a mate for life....Ive cant rap my head around someone thinking that im attractive but not enough...this is whats killing our society, this is whats killing the fabric of our relationships and marriages, this is whats killing us...acceptance and love, that is why Giods message is so Full of acceptance and Love. Us as humans are so vulnerable yet cruel at the same time, without even noticin the parameters to which we have created this invisible fence that we all herd ourselve into, looking for friendship, companionship, love and most of Acceptance...when we have been rejected, or feel inferior, we dont shine like God wants us tooooo, so how do we get everyone to shine....

Hahaha. I know what you mean. Being called cute is a big turn off for me, too, but I'm sure it's just an ego problem. Personally, I like cute girls more than hot because I value fun and friendship a lot in a serious relationship. Hot girls just don't seem like they have that much fun. They're too busy worrying about how they look and keeping up a billion social ties rather than spending one-on-one time with their boyfriend. And that can be a pain in the arse for a guy dating a hot lady, because half of that lady's social ties are to other guys. Call me crazy, but I'd rather spend quality time with a woman I'm in a serious relationship with than always have someone else in the way and half the time it be another guy.

So I shoot for the kind, cute ladies who have a few close friends and who recognize the difference between boy friends and boyfriends.

Here's some perspective: I think a hot woman can turn me off and a cute lady can turn me on. Hot women have sex appeal, but they can be real witches sometimes. Besides, I'm not all that interested in sex appeal. If I love someone, they're decent-looking and they treat me right, then they're going to have plenty of sex appeal. :p

Honestly, looks aren't what shape a relationship for me, but they're important. If I don't know a woman and she looks great then I like to get to know her. If I know a woman has a nice personality and she's not bad-looking then I like to get to know her even more. In essence, physical appearance is what snags me, but personality keeps me. I don't give a flip about a woman who is hot/cute and condescending. And I can put up with my woman's off-days when it comes to looks. In fact a bad hair day for her may even be cute and thus attractive... unless she's being whiny. >_>

I think cute is better than hot. It's like comparing a miniature french poodle (cute) with a dalmatian wearing a blonde wig and makeup (hot).
Don't forget, the dalmation would only be considered truly "hot" if it also had at least two "enhanced" or "implanted" body parts... (collagen lips... and um... fur implants? Not sure on that one...) I can see it now... "Are those spots REAL... or has she had work done???"

A co-worker of mine was telling me about a guy who comes into our store whom she personally finds "hot". The reason why? She said, "Kim, he's SSOOO sexy, because you know how most people who come in have, say a $200 electric bill and they only pay $20 on it and then get lotto tickets and beer? (Often with their food stamp cash benefits, which is supposed to be illegal). This guy actually PAYS HIS WHOLE BILL and even a little extra on the side! It's such a turn on!"

I had to laugh.

She was saying this not because she's materialistic at all--it's because this guy was responsible, had a job, paid his bills on time, and wasn't throwing his money away. Most of the guys we meet in this area are hooked on pot, booze, multiple rounds of women, don't have jobs, and completely sponge off everyone around them.

Someone who's a grown adult and pays his bills on his own, and on time???

Now that's HOT!!! (No implants or collagen required.)

Unfortunately, in the area in which I live, the other thing that makes a man irresistibly HOT to many of the women around here... is a man who pays child support... unlike my poor friend, who has received a grand total of $10 in the past six months from her ex (they have two children together... he has two others by another woman, and is currently married to a woman who has five children of her own.) That's $10 more than what he usually pays.

A man who pays child support ON TIME and in ADEQUATE AMOUNTS... on his OWN KIDS???!!!!

Now that's HOT!!!

(I don't have any children, but most of my friends do, and I certainly see how hard it is for them.)

Sure, except that I tend to use "cute" and "hot" interchangeably... If I tell someone I think he's cute... it's generally because I'm too shy or don't want to sound too forward to say "hot" or "sexy" so I'll just use "cute" as a way of paying a compliment I sincerely want to give without sounding like a stalker, hopefully.

I can't think of many guys whom I found to be "cute" and didn't think they were "hot" or "sexy" as well for varying reasons... sense of humor, deep thinker, compassionate heart, admirable faith, etc.

I have one guy friend who seems to insist that "cute" is interchangeable for "handsome" and I have yet to change his mind about that, but hey... (We have actually argued several rounds about this but he insists he's right.) I guess we all just have our own vocabulary for attractiveness, I guess!

Plus, I'm old-school--"back in my day","cute" was just the word to use. :D

You know what really turns me on? Watching my woman eat exorbitant amounts of chocolate while she lets me give her a long foot massage. rrrrRRRRrrr I'd be the luckiest guy in the world I tell ya.

You seriously need to clone yourself in varying age categories and then post a thread telling all of us women how we can meet our own age-appropriate clone... *Is preparing to write down that number and address.*

*Reaches for the chocolate while kicking off her sneakers!*

I don't know what's going here. Some kind of debate regarding two terms which only have widespread usage in North America?

My knowledge of foreign dialects is limited so I should probably keep out of this one. However, if you start talking about 'crumpet' then let me know.
