I need advice ASAP! It's something about dream catchers.

That's exactly the case with her but being a Christian how can I give her something based on some Indian spider god being fully aware of it? The webbing of the dream catcher itself represents that god and every other part of it has various symbolisms. Yes, she did understand and I'm going to make something else. Thanks for the advice.

I agree with Bruce. It's all in the context of how you use it, that matters. If she wants it because she likes them and wants it as decoration, then make it for her. But if you KNOW she'll treat it as a good luck charm, then give her something else..

I know of instances in which people have unknowingly had idols or paraphernalia in their houses and suffered for it and they never knew why until by the gift of knowledge someone revealed it to them.
 
Thank you everyone, for your thoughts and your time. They have really helped me make a choice and finally be on the same page as the Holy Spirit :D I can't believe how easily we get blinded sometimes by everything that shines and is pretty.
 
Well the thing is that when you get something like that. It depends on the thing. A normal dream catcher wont to harm BUT It can be manipulated to the negative easily. Especially people of the Occult have a radar to spot where things like that are.. And its more likely for them to manipulate that than a cross necklace..which happens too but not soo much

Try to take courage and use this as a way to tell her about Jesus. If she is a friend you should be open with her about this and tell her the real reason why you don't feel right to make one. If she likes what she hears maybe you can win her to Christ and become even better friends.
 
Not making this up... I once received a dreamcatcher in the mail as a gift from a children's charity and I simply thought it was a beautiful decoration so I kept it in my bedroom. Well, right away I started having really bad dreams and I seemed to be having bad luck during the day like almost getting into accidents when driving. I started wondering why I was having this strange bout of misfortune and then I remember it started around when I got that dreamcatcher. I had no idea what a dreamcatcher was either and didn't believe any indian superstitions were real even if I did know what it was. So I got rid of it.

By the way, the same thing happened when I bought a small tiki doll from hawaii. It was only about 2 inches tall.

Best to leave these sort of things alone...

For those of you who don't know what a dream catcher is it's a beautifully crafted Native American handicraft which despite it's overall aesthetic appeal is actually based on some Native American spider god and is supposed to catch evil dreams and good dreams and filter out only the good and it could become a gateway for evil spirits now that I think about it because the Native American tradition is based a lot on spirits and stuff. My problem is that I don't know what to do now! Do I make it for her or not??

Do note that on one hand she's not Christian and not much into any god while on the other hand I might feel guilty if I gave her something related to a pagan god being a Christian myself.

I have several dream catchers and haven't ever had a problem with them. The problem comes when you focus more on where it comes from, and not what it is: a simple, pretty decorative creation. :)
 
Some folks like to make mountains out of molehills. It's a decoration. The high-and-mighty attitude some folks have over cultural items is really silly. It's hypocritical too. If you want to make a big deal out of a dream catcher because someone on the Internet said it's Pagan, then you MUST be consistent and eliminate ALL other so-called Pagan things. Throw all your electronics in the garbage. All your music and movies too. Oh, and don't forget your books. Might as well just play it safe and toss a match to your entire life, live in a cave, dress in a gunny sack and read your Bible...you might be safe then.

And throw out your bible along with the dream catchers. Some morons claim that the bible is pagan too.. lol :rolleyes:

I didn't even know what my dreamcatcher was or what it was for, nor did I care (it was a free gift I received in the mail from a charity). I just used it as a pretty decoration and I immediately started having terrible nightmares... the nightmares stopped when I got rid of it.

when I turned to Christ God told me to destroy it and get rid of it. after I did that my room was much clearer and freer
 
Just another side of the same coin. I know several people who are missionaries some who
work in Africa. They are very careful about the sort of trinkets and silveners they take into
their homes or which they bring back for gifts.

To look at them they might just be wood carvings or ornate beads etc, completely
harmless you might think, but some of these harmless items are used by tribesman in
witchcraft, conjuring up spirits, talking to the dead, even voodoo.

Just because something looks innocent and pretty doesn't mean it's harmless.
The demonic can attach themselves to such harmless looking things. Even if that is
not the case, I for one would not feel comfortable having something in my house which I
know has spiritist or demonic use. Such things can be a magnet a doorway to trouble.

If you ever feel oppressed, burdened for no reason, suddenly find yourself getting
anxious for no apparent, can't shake off a feeling of dread for no apparent reason,
then take a look around your house and see what you are letting into it.

This is not just superstitious nonsense, I've known people who have experienced such things.

Demi is spot on when she says she wants a clear house.
