good morning. I see you are still talking in circles. I will try to ask this again. if your jesus is "bringing an end to the law for those who are in Christ", does that mean you now are lawless? None of God's laws apply to you now? Please explain.
Perhaps it means that we are no longer judged by the law by what we did wrong but we are now judged by our life that we have lived in Christ. We are not lawless instead we should try to live as Christ did. the ten commandments are a guideline of right and wrong. The rest of the Jew's law doesn't now apply.

Here is a good writeup on it that I found.

Copy/paste....

Question: "How is Jesus our Sabbath Rest?"

Answer: The key to understanding how Jesus is our Sabbath rest is the Hebrew word sabat, which means "to rest or stop or cease from work." The origin of the Sabbath goes back to Creation. After creating the heavens and the earth in six days, God "rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made" (Genesis 2:2). This doesn’t mean that God was tired and needed a rest. We know that God is omnipotent, literally "all-powerful." He has all the power in the universe, He never tires, and His most arduous expenditure of energy does not diminish His power one bit. So, what does it mean that God rested on the seventh day? Simply that He stopped what He was doing. He ceased from His labors. This is important in understanding the establishment of the Sabbath day and the role of Christ as our Sabbath rest.

God used the example of His resting on the seventh day of Creation to establish the principle of the Sabbath day rest for His people. In Exodus 20:8-11 and Deuteronomy 5:12-15, God gave the Israelites the fourth of His Ten Commandments. They were to "remember" the Sabbath day and "keep it holy." One day out of every seven, they were to rest from their labors and give the same day of rest to their servants and animals. This was not just a physical rest, but a cessation of laboring. Whatever work they were engaged in was to stop for a full day each week. The Sabbath day was established so the people would rest from their labors, only to begin again after a one-day rest.

The various elements of the Sabbath symbolized the coming of the Messiah, who would provide a permanent rest for His people. Once again the example of resting from our labors comes into play. With the establishment of the Old Testament Law, the Jews were constantly "laboring" to make themselves acceptable to God. Their labors included trying to obey a myriad of do’s and don’ts of the ceremonial law, the Temple law, the civil law, etc. Of course they couldn’t possibly keep all those laws, so God provided an array of sin offerings and sacrifices so they could come to Him for forgiveness and restore fellowship with Him, but only temporarily. Just as they began their physical labors after a one-day rest, so, too, did they have to continue to offer sacrifices. Hebrews 10:1 tells us that the law "can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship." But these sacrifices were offered in anticipation of the ultimate sacrifice of Christ on the cross, who "after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right of God" (Hebrews 10:12). Just as He rested after performing the ultimate sacrifice, He sat down and rested—ceased from His labor of atonement because there was nothing more to be done, ever. Because of what He did, we no longer have to "labor" in law-keeping in order to be justified in the sight of God. Jesus was sent so that we might rest in God and in what He has provided.

Another element of the Sabbath day rest which God instituted as a foreshadowing of our complete rest in Christ is that He blessed it, sanctified it, and made it holy. Here again we see the symbol of Christ as our Sabbath rest—the holy, perfect Son of God who sanctifies and makes holy all who believe in Him. God sanctified Christ, just as He sanctified the Sabbath day, and sent Him into the world (John 10:36) to be our sacrifice for sin. In Him we find complete rest from the labors of our self-effort, because He alone is holy and righteous. "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21). We can now cease from our spiritual labors and rest in Him, not just one day a week, but always.

Jesus can be our Sabbath rest in part because He is "Lord of the Sabbath" (Matthew 12:8). As God incarnate, He decides the true meaning of the Sabbath because He created it, and He is our Sabbath rest in the flesh. When the Pharisees criticized Him for healing on the Sabbath, Jesus reminded them that even they, sinful as they were, would not hesitate to pull a sheep out of a pit on the Sabbath. Because He came to seek and save His sheep who would hear His voice (John 10:3,27) and enter into the Sabbath rest He provided by paying for their sins, He could break the Sabbath rules. He told the Pharisees that people are more important than sheep and the salvation He provided was more important than rules. By saying, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27), Jesus was restating the principle that the Sabbath rest was instituted to relieve man of his labors, just as He came to relieve us of our attempting to achieve salvation by our works. We no longer rest for only one day, but forever cease our laboring to attain God’s favor. Jesus is our rest from works now, just as He is the door to heaven, where we will rest in Him forever.

Hebrews 4 is the definitive passage regarding Jesus as our Sabbath rest. The writer to the Hebrews exhorts his readers to “enter in” to the Sabbath rest provided by Christ. After three chapters of telling them that Jesus is superior to the angels and that He is our Apostle and High Priest, he pleads with them to not harden their hearts against Him, as their fathers hardened their hearts against the Lord in the wilderness. Because of their unbelief, God denied that generation access to the holy land, saying, “They shall not enter into My rest” (Hebrews 3:11). In the same way, the writer to the Hebrews begs his readers not to make the same mistake by rejecting God’s Sabbath rest in Jesus Christ. “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience” (Hebrews 4:9–11).

There is no other Sabbath rest besides Jesus. He alone satisfies the requirements of the Law, and He alone provides the sacrifice that atones for sin. He is God’s plan for us to cease from the labor of our own works. We dare not reject this one-and-only Way of salvation (John 14:6). God’s reaction to those who choose to reject His plan is seen in Numbers 15. A man was found gathering sticks on the Sabbath day, in spite of God’s plain commandment to cease from all labor on the Sabbath. This transgression was a known and willful sin, done with unblushing boldness in broad daylight, in open defiance of the divine authority. “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp’” (verse 35). So it will be to all who reject God’s provision for our Sabbath rest in Christ. “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3).

I know the 7th day adventists put a lot of focus on Sunday being an "evil" day, since it was Rome that made it the official day of worship. But reality is it's just a day. If you want to fellowship on Saturday then so be it, but don't condemn those who choose to meet on Sunday or every day of the week. Anyway, Jesus is our sabbath rest.

I know a couple of Jews - they can't use electricity or travel on Shabbat, they have very strict observances. So if you're wanting to follow the Jews will you then focus on circumcision and kosher foods also?
Step back for a moment and take a look at the big picture. The 7th day was replaced by the 1st day. Passover was replaced by Easter. Who knows where Christmas came from, but for sure not the Scriptures. Yeshua's name was changed to jesus. Father YHVH's name was changed to "Lord". Do you see a pattern? I am not trying to win points or condemn anyone myself. However, I do see what the adversary has done. We were all duped.

HS, good morning. I want you to understand one thing. God has one people. God's instructions are for God's people. There are no covenants or inheritance for gentiles. You have to be adopted, or grafted into the commonwealth of Israel.

good morning. I see you are still talking in circles. I will try to ask this again. if your jesus is "bringing an end to the law for those who are in Christ", does that mean you now are lawless? None of God's laws apply to you now? Please explain.
No, it means that the law has been satisfied and believers are free from the curse of the law. Do you close your eyes when reading Galatians and Romans? You must, because you're not getting it. You people always amaze me because to you, to not be under the law equals free reign to sin. Do you understand any of the illustrations that the Holy Spirit gave through Paul? Did you understand the answer when the party of the Pharisees made the claim that the Gentile believers must be circumcised and made to obey the law of Moses? And did you understand the answer that Peter and counsel gave?

"Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

"
God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us."

In other words, God excepted those Gentiles of Cornelius' household who did not abide in the law of Moses, but accepted them by giving them the Holy Spirit the same as he did to Peter and the rest of the Jews who were under the law. He made no distinction between them and that because God did not except either group because of their obedience to the law, but because of both parties belief in Christ.

Why is it that you can't comprehend that we are under a different covenant? One where we are no longer married to the law, but follow Christ and are lead by the Spirit. Instead, for you to not be under the law equals freedom to sin. There is something very wrong with this thinking, which I have run into many times before. You have been deceived and continue to deceive others with this teaching of yours that we are still under the law.

"
For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.”Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole."He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

"
What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;31but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone."

The examples above are the works of the law vs. salvation by grace through faith. Israel is still trying to obtain favor with God by keeping the law of Moses, but continues to fail and the Gentiles obtained salvation by having faith in Christ who satisfied the law with all of its rules and regulations and then paid the penalty for our sins.

Let's look at the father of our faith: Abraham was credited with righteousness because he believed God when he said to Abraham that he would give him a son in his old age and that's it! Abraham was credited with righteousness because he believed God's promise. He also said that Abraham would be the father of many nations and we who have the same faith as Abraham are the heirs of that promise. Not by the works of the law, but by faith in Christ.

By the way, I don't speak in circles, but only in the truth of God's word. You seem to ignore or circumvent all of the illustrations given through Holy Spirit regarding this subject. If you continue to trust in anything other than the Lord's sacrifice for salvation, you and those who believe as you do will never enter into eternal life and that because you are not truly trusting in him, even though you say you are. At the same time you say Christ, Christ, you are also saying works, works, which cancels out Christ, Christ.

Okay, let's go with this for a minute. Salvation is grace through faith in the Son of God. We agree on that. You will not find in anything I ever posted that says a person is saved by keeping the law. Go back and read. Our heavenly Father did send His Spirit to these new gentile converts. What is the Spirit for? To empower us to walk in God's commandments! That is Scripture. However, even as believers, sometimes we struggle to live as God wants us to. This is why Paul kept going back and teaching, and writing letters. If at that moment a new believer accepts the gospel message, they suddenly became perfect and flawless, there would be no need to study the Bible anymore. If we become perfect, there is no need for sunday school. Do you see this? We still need instructions. We need God's instructions. We all have to repent. If you are under no law, how can you repent?

Do you read the Bible?
He answered,
"I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

Matthew 15:24 (ESV2011)

remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
Ephesians 2:12 (ESV2011)

They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.
Romans 9:4 (ESV2011)

Oh But you are! by claiming that believers are still under the works of the law, you are saying it without saying it.

If at that moment a new believer accepts the gospel message, they suddenly became perfect and flawless, there would be no need to study the Bible anymore.

I didn't make the above claim. I never said that a new believer suddenly becomes perfect. A believer is simply not under the law because the law gives sin its power and condemns us when we break it at any point. All believers are being sanctified, which is the on-going process of being made holy. But God sees us a perfect because He sees us through Christ, even though we are not. Believers are credited with righteousness through faith in Christ apart from the works of the law.

Really!!
So when the Judaizers insisted on exactly that Paul condemned them - read Galatians for goodness sake.
There is no weird middle road of a bit of grace and bit of law.
Gal chap3
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth,[a] before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you[b] as crucified? 2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?
5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?— 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[c]7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.”[d]9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

Read this from Romans chap8
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a]who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Honestly - this is not rocket science.

Ok, do you walk according to the Spirit at all times? What does that even mean? What is the Spirit for? To empower you to live as God wants you to, right? Do we agree on this much?

Not if you are going to try and convince me that the whole point of the exercise is to place myself under the law again.
Then no Sir! We do not agree.

Hey TonyJay,

I hear ya! As much as the Holy Spirit has used so many different illustrations regarding the works of the law vs. grace through faith and there these who seem to have their eyes closed when they read Galatians and Romans. It is very frustrating to say the least. I'm just thankful that Christ freed us from the law by his sacrifice and that we have died to that husband (the law) and are no longer bound by it. I wish that I could make disciplemike understand, but only God can remove the blinders. So, I say let's just continue to pray that God will do just that. Our only entrance into eternal life is through faith in the shed blood of Christ. If we claim anything else we are saying that His sacrifice was insufficient.

All "law-keepers" - there is a website that talks about keeping the Jewish Old Covenant Law. I encourage you to go and read it. One of our members ( JGIG) has extensive background in this area and has dealt with the Hebrew Roots Movement and addresses the common fallacies of trying to keep the law after coming to Christ. In effect people that try to keep the law are denying Christ and what He has done in His finished work and His life in them.

Here it is:

It would seem you are trying to avoid being as Christian?

But I agree. Yes if any man has not the Spirit of Christ than neither do they belong to Him.

When Christians walk by the Spirit of Jesus, the Spirit of Christ we will not carry out the desires of the flesh.

Do you have fleshly desires that are contrary to the Spirit of Jesus, like all Christians ?

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man "have not" the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The Spirit of Jesus , Christ is the same spirit of faith according as it is written that worked in the Old testament saints as the same spirit that works in the Christians today .

Is it working in you?

1Peter 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was "in them did" signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

What is the glory that did follow.

The question you must answer is do you have the Spirit of Christ? If not what law makes you free from the law of sin and death ?

It has set the Christian free.

Are you a Christian or do you appose Christianity ?

Romans 8:2 For the "law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Has it made you free?

Cee wrote...Yes the prophets foretold of this day, because God tells His prophets first.
And the OT was given to us as an example of righteousness apart from the law.
I wrote a huge post about this.
Not saying you are but we cannot use the word “law” loosely or how we could keep it. This is seeing no man can keep it perfectly without sinning.. It would only provide an opportunity for an empty boast.

So then apart from what law, the law of faith, or of works ?

Note ....(purple in parenthesis) my private interpretation as a theory

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.(the faith of God) Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith (the faith of God) without the deeds of the law. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith(the faith of God), and uncircumcision through faith(the faith of God). Do we then make void the law through faith? (the faith of God)God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Rom 3:27

Cee wrote...But let's see here, so Jesus comes and the Pharisees missed Him. Why?
They were serving a law of the fathers having it (the faith of God) in respect to Abraham .The first century reformation restored that law back to its proper understanding. It’s what reformations do...... Restore.

Cee wrote....Old Covenant was between God and the Jews.
It said they had to follow the law.
The Old Testament is between God and the person he works in by faith to give his understanding from heaven to. Without his faith working in us we would have no way to please him.

The law they had to follow which continues in a degree even today(baptism and the lords supper that anticipates the marriage supper of the lamb in the new heavens and earth) is ceremonial .It is used as a shadow seeing it cannot make the conscience of perfect. Hebrew informs us it was a parable of things not seen.... the eternal things of God.

Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them "until" the time of reformation.Heb 9:9

Cee wrote....New Covenant is between God and Christ.
It is from Abraham the Father of Faith.
Can't separate God from Christ .Christ is the anointing Holy Spirit of God. If we separate the anointing Holy Spirit of Christ from God he would have no way to anoint us as he teaches us.

Abraham is not the father of faith. Like a shadow he is typified as a metaphor. But God’s faith it is not in respect to seeds in respect to the flesh of Abraham as many.... but seed as one the spiritual seed of Christ , in God.

For what if some Jews did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

alatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

We are to call no man father on earth.

We enter in through Christ by the faith of Christ, the faith of God. He did the work necessary. Faith without works is dead.

Cee wrote...The truth is though that even the OT was between Christ and God.
Christ is God

Cee wrote...But it was only through faith in God that they received it.
Not in ........from us.I think you meant the faith of God generating by and not in respect to coming us.

It looks like might you might be getting the faith upside down as to where it comes from and who it belongs to?

Step back for a moment and take a look at the big picture. The 7th day was replaced by the 1st day. Passover was replaced by Easter. Who knows where Christmas came from, but for sure not the Scriptures. Yeshua's name was changed to jesus. Father YHVH's name was changed to "Lord". Do you see a pattern? I am not trying to win points or condemn anyone myself. However, I do see what the adversary has done. We were all duped.
Well said.
Welcome to CC! Your posts are refreshing.:)

His Name has been removed from the KJV over 6000 times! Still, whenever we see LORD, there's a clue. When researching the origins of popular holidays, it should be frightening to the believer who has participated. When our Father has been so gracious to show us these things, whew! What a relief! He is drawing us nearer to Him, we can repent and stop doing it.

We all should be extremely grateful to have access to the Word of our Creator, yet how often do we rely on man's interpretation? The majority? It's called the wine of Babylon, it is false teaching, and many are drunk/confused by partaking. Only a remnent will dilligently seek Him, and find Him.

Rev 14:7Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters..........

Exodus 20:11"For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.

HS, good morning. I want you to understand one thing. God has one people. God's instructions are for God's people. There are no covenants or inheritance for gentiles. You have to be adopted, or grafted into the commonwealth of Israel.
you have to die, with Christ - who took on all the condemnation of the law for all of us. you have to be brought in under mercy, because God has constrained all to disobedience.
you have to serve in the new way of the Spirit, not by the written code & ministration of death, and accept the substance, and leave the shadow behind.

Israel will not be saved by obedience to the law. no one will. but by obedience to the will of God, which is to believe in the Son -- and have a righteousness that is by faith, not works.

no one is perfected by the flesh, having begun in the spirit.

Israel, just like the gentiles, must die to the law. He has changed the priesthood, and with it, the law. there is exactly one door: Jesus the Christ.
