So recently my wife caught me masterbating to porn, and it's not the first time, it happened twice before and I lied before about it, and she is very upset with me that I looked again. I hate that I do it, it's disgusting, but I started when I was young, and I've been able to stay away for a long time but I came back to it, if anyone has advice to help me permanently break away from this, I would really appreciate the help.

Are you a Christian? If not first get right with Jesus. Get rid of anything that will give you access to porn. And remember you are fighting two fights, spiritual and flesh. If you don't get the spiritual stuff right your won't be able to fight the flesh.

Can I suggest a book to read besides the bible? The Knights Code By Robert Noland. This book isn't about porn per say but it does go over how to live the way God wants a man to live. How to have some sort of accountability to others to stay on track with your committment to staying away from sin and living a Godly life.

Caution. Adult dialogue. Viewer discretion advised.

The first thing I’m gong to do when I get to Heaven (ok, the second) is to seek out Adam. What the heck he was thinking, eating that fruit? Remember now - he was created naked, and woman likewise; and they ran around for God knows how long that way. It wasn’t until they ate from the tree that they thought it was odd to be naked and covered up. (Please note that it took both of them. But, one simple rule - just don’t do this - and what does woman do? Initiate something we men then take responsibility for :)). But really, Adam, man, talk about blowing’ it in Biblical proportions. If you hadn’t eaten that apple, Maxim could print pictures of women who are actually naked. And I'd be at the mall riding crowded elevators. The human body is God's greatest art form after all.

Oh that human body, that fallen flesh. God made it. All of it. Yeah, everything. Even that. And these. And here, there, and this little spot way under … giggle … All those wonderful nerve endings ... His design. Those organs, hormones and neural pathways, with the sole purpose of making you want to become one with another… His design. Born naked ... His design.

All of which has become screwed under satan's authority. That which was so innocent has now become so vile. And our flesh, like a leash, drags us into that villainy. But what can we do, even when it's not being tempted by satan - it's still flesh! Fallen and opposed to God. The only way to be truly free of it is to be done with it. But that's not a choice we're supposed to make for ourselves.

So the battle is not to try and be rid of the urges (as the Borg say, resistance is futile), but to learn how to manage them. You must have a plan. That includes confessing your failures, and asking forgiveness. When you submit to a demon yanking on your leash, you empower it over you. Confession is the way you rebuke that. In God's mind, salvation forgiveness is a once for lifetime event, and the power of sin has no effect on it. But the power of sin in the here and now is that if you submit to an authority, you're submitted to an authority... until you rebuke it. So bring it before God, confess what you got dirty in (again), and pray the Blood of Christ be poured out upon and within you for the cleansing it brings in both spirit and body. Pray the Holy Spirit be poured out upon you as well, filling your spirit to be stronger against the flesh. Be specific in your prayers. And confront the enemy and his minions who are going to use that flesh of yours. They're going to taunt and tease and do their best to entice you. They've built a global society around it. Be aware of that, and like the verse paraphrases, if your HBO causes you to sin then cut it off. That or your hand, but I'd try the HBO first.

Know how I treat my addiction? I come here. I told myself that when I was tempted, I would come here first, and that if 30 minutes later I was still worked up I'd go ahead. I'm still here.

God bless you for fighting the fight.

Put scriptures around your home, your car, and anywhere you can see them. Quote these often out loud. Spiritual warfare is real and attacks through the flesh are difficult. You have stopped before and can again.

This was written a a while back by someone coming back from serving self as you have. I hope it blesses.....

My Ecclesiastes
I realize that as I get older, even as someone saved and sealed by Christ, I wasted SO MUCH TIME chasing after my will instead of following God's will. I mourn the days I CAN NEVER GET BACK following my own selfish desires as opposed to seeking after the will of God.* Months and years of living in rebellion, paying for the moments of temporal pleasure at a cost of shame and broken fellowship with my God and my Savior. I am ashamed of all the people I probably led further away from Christ rather than living a lifestyle that would draw them to Him. I got away with nothing and gave up so much.* As it has been said before, the cost for your sin is ALWAYS more than you ever thought you would pay.

I am now 51 years old and it's safe to say over HALF my life is GONE, I cannot get back even ONE of the days that I wasted.* Within the last three months, I came to a crossroads where I had to make a decision; was I going to continue "sinning so that grace might abound?" Or was I going to allow Jesus to be more than just the propitiation of my sin, was I going to step down and allow Christ to be in charge, to be the Lord of my Life? I was tired of living in a constant state of conviction, defeat, and shame; no one EVER said being a Christian was an easy life to live, but I was only making it harder on myself.* I had had enough of ME being in charge.* *I began listening to some audio books a friend suggested.* They reminded me of how much God loves me, of the things He created and DID to show me He loved me.* But they also reminded me, very painfully and yet again, to my shame,* how WORTHY God is of my worship and obedience.* I had to stop the audio and confess to God just *how jaded I had become by rationalizing my sin, how angry I had gotten, that my life was miserable due to my own rebellious choices.* I literally WEPT beyond being able to form words when I fully understood just how much I missed and NEEDED to live in God's will, not my own.

It's an addiction. Like all addictions it's a life long problem. There is no magic solution. It takes work and always will. One of the biggest requirements is accountability. If your wife already knows then that's actually a help. Put blocks on your computers phones and pads. Have her put in the passwords for everything so you have to go to her to get past them. XXXChurch.com is s ministry aimed at sex and porn addiction.
Also on Facebook (and probably off as well) is a group called Fight The New Drug. It's not Christian but they provide a lot of true stories and facts about the effects of porn and on the porn industry. So those may provide some help.

Thanks you all so much, I appreciate the help, if you are not too busy I would really appreciate prayer from you! It's great to just be able to talk about my problem so openly and not be judged! Thank you

Check out this scripture :)

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

It's perversion as well as addiction. You can be delivered for ever.. it's not a life long battle unless you make it one.. I was delivered from a massive perversion addiction.. I was so bound only God could help me.. resources are nice but sometimes nice isn't good enough.. I'll remember you when I pray.. Please do something for your wife.. Be thoughtful

I too struggle with a porn addiction. I hope that I can use the same prevention as you that is to come to this site when I feel the urge. That will get my mind back on God.

Perry Stone has a series of teachings on addictions and how they actually physically affect the brain, whether it is drugs, alcohol or porn. You might look those up on youtube after you put blocks on your computer.

You've heard a lot of ideas, but unfortunately, none of them are truly workable, permanent answers. If you get serious about this, PM me. It took decades, but I think I have finally found an honest, effective answer.

I've sent a small amount of information to one of the posters here. Perhaps he will share it if he feels what I presented is worth trying.

Willie why don't you just share it here so everyone can take advantage of the information, if they see this post and it relates to them, I would appreciate it!

Even the short version won't possibly fit here, and no one would bother to look at it if this wasn't of particular interest to then.

Sending the short highlights takes two separate post in PM. (and PM seems to accept longer posts than the open forum.)
