shalom all, first I will share my views on what a biblical discussion forum is: It is a place where believers can share their views without expecting or demanding anyone else to agree with them, it is s place where students of scripture can post their own understanding of a certain text or concept, or principle they see for the purpose of gaining further insight and proper and balanced understanding of what they study, this requires a humble and teachable spirit, It is a place where the follower of our beloved Savior can share the words of encouragement that blessed them from the bible with a heartfelt desire for others to share in that peace and strength they gain from it. It is a place where the exchange of ideas and opinions can be openly and maturely discussed for the purpose of learning and personal growth in the knowledge and understanding of the Holy one.
now I will state what it is not: it is not a place for believers to rail on each others differences, it is not a place to teach and indoctrinate others no matter how powerful a message you glean from the word may seem to you, it is not a place to openly attack others simply because they disagree with or even challenge your belief or opinions, it is not a place to show everyone how much you know, it is not place to bash other believers no matter how "off" their understanding may seem to you.
this is as much to me as anyone and we all can benefit from this resource if we use it correctly and according to its intended purpose, we can speak life or death brothers and sisters, lets choose life....

Very good post Yonah :) Though I think if you want to apply this to our Bible Discussion Forum you gotta switch your points around haha
 
Yonah, i just wanted to say there have been a couple of times i've logged into the site when you've been speaking in live chat. i pause just to hear that lovely southern drawl of yours, and the timbre of your voice. thought about reading books aloud for recording? :)

Bible knowledge without the Holy Spirit just puffs us up - it serves no good purpose.

Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

What if what is being sold is death, not life?

Well, teaching occurs through almost everything we post in here.

Indoctrination? Sure.. just following a person is not the way.. but teaching doctrine.. which the bible is completely full of.. should be fine.

Guess we have different ideas on what teaching and indoctrination mean. I know you can do both these things without degrading others, without insults etc.. by saying 'this is what the bible says on this.. or what God says on this..'

Aside from this.. arguments are going to happen in this site. You have too many different streams of christianity in here.

Pentecostals, charismatics.. non charismatics.. non denominational.. denominational.. etc etc etc.. so many different kinds it would take a very long time to list!

There are popular teachings I like to challenge.. and often quoted verses that get taken out of context. I like to challenge on these things

if you Love Jesus Christ and have surrendered to Him or if you are feeling Him drawing
you to Himself, it is truly a wonderful place to share and learn how to love and feel others
love for our Maker...but we all must be aware and learn and recognize the fact that 'deceivers'
creep-in-un-awares....

Paul is always aware and warning us of 'false-brethren'...Jude also...

JUDE 1:4.
For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men,
who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

11COR:20-21.

if we witness others who 'continually' have the 'spirit-of-contention', accompanied with outbursts of wrath
towards others or if they have a need to always have the 'last-word', BEWARE, for it is written:

11TIM. 2:23.
But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

and it is also written,
That there is a time to speak and a time to keep silent'.

the bottom line is, if we participate in a worldly arena of contentions and strife and railings,
we become the servant of 'sin'.

if we Love our Saviour, our hearts and yearnings are to become like Him and to be in unity
with our true Brethren...
