Dan Patrick: Texas Lieutenant Governor Calls Dallas Protestors 'Hypocrites' for Expecting Protection
"All those protesters last night, they ran the other way, expecting the men and women in blue to turn around and protect them. What hypocrites,"
I personally think Dan Patrick is dead wrong on this. It's disturbing to read/watch him talk about this and blame it on everyone but the person who actually did the shooting and killing! The peaceful protestors were marching on account of the unjust killings of two men, not because they hate all cops and wish there weren't any...

Is Dan Patrick ignorant, or do you think he's right that the truly peaceful protestors are all "hypocrites"?

This sounds like a divider and not a unifier. This is the last thing people need to hear. I'm not sure if he understand the ramifications of his words to an already emboldened group of hurt and angry people.

I wouldn't say hypocrisy so much as irony.

I do think it would have been wiser, instructive even, to praise the valor of the officers in their protection of those who criticize them. It would have pointed out the value of police officers and make those who hate cops stop and think.

alleged unjust killings. I doubt the letters for jury duty have hit the mailboxes yet.

I would agree. I wouldn't be surprised if he later recants his statement and say he meant "ironic". He is receiving plenty of backlash for his statement, and rightfully so.

The jury's decision is irrelevant to the killing being unjust, unless we are strictly talking on a civil level.

A jury finding OJ Simpson "not guilty" doesn't mean that he truly is "not guilty"... although, it does mean he is "not guilty" criminally in the law of the land.

All the same though, perception is their reality. Lets pretend for a minute that all shootings are justified and people feel otherwise, the peaceful protestors aren't hypocrites... save it be for the few who actually wish there weren't any cops.

So based on your own words isn't it hypocritical for you to determine guilt or innocence before the facts are all out? As far as perception. Hoes this one. There has not been one tea party member that has been involved in mirdering someone based on political motivations. Yet while the current administration is fanning the flames of hatred of police officers while simultaneously demonizing Christians and law abiding citizens? Why is that?

You took the words right out of my mouth [again]!

This could have been a PERFECT moment to unify the law enforcement with the peaceful protestors. What better way to show the protestors the hearts of the majority of police officers than to articulate/reiterate the heroes in Dallas that ran TOWARDS the gunfire while they were running away?!

Nevertheless, I hope the protestors can look past Dan Patrick's divisive message, and recognize that the cops that night were fighting to protect them.

I've never stated with absolute certainty that the police officers were guilty. I even made several posts about how the facts we do have (based on testimony of the police officer and video evidence) make the police officer look bad in the Castile incident. I'm open to hearing any other facts that would make the killing of Castile justifiable.

So no, I don't think I'm hypocritical for having an opinion based on the facts we do have, especially since I've never pawned my opinion as definite proof/fact that the cop is/was guilty.

I wanted to edit this post and add a scripture:

John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."

A special thanks to the men and women in blue!

I'd cut Patrick some slack considering all the emotion swirling around his city.

Ok. So lemme ask you this. Where do police officers do most of their policing?

They serve within their community.

But what areas in their community get more policing than others?
It depends on the community I suppose. I mean no disrespect, but what does this have to do with Dan Patrick calling the protestors hypocrites?

We'll get there eventually and this may or may not clear it up for you. Police police where there is the most crime irrespective of race.

Fair point. I'm hoping he was just emotional and he doesn't really feel this way.
