Apparently silence is golden. Asking questions about something causes wars, or someone asking you if it's wise to post a particular thing. Apparently being a new Christian trying to get guidance is something you shouldn't do on this site. Only those who are mature should ask questions. I'll just observe from now on. I can't do anything wrong if I just watch.

Wanna bet? ;)

That's been a big issue here for a long time. The Bible Discussion Forum is a free-for-all, kinda like the MMA octagon for the Christian set. I've often thought that a new Christian would look at that and say, jeez, if these long-term believers can't agree on anything, what chance do I have. And you have proved me correct. Sadly so.

But you're wise enough to know who is in it for real and who is in it just for the fight. Ignore the fighters and pm those who are honestly trying to help you. You shouldn't have to dummy up just because some people have acid in their veins. Discernment is one of the Holy Spirit's gifts. And I believe you know how to discern who is worth talking to and whom to ignore.

If someone picks a fight, click on their name, click view profile, then click "add to ignore list". Then you won't have them in your face when you are seeking serious responses. These people for the most part are NOT mature believers. Just cranky ones.

God bless you, my friend. Keep seeking the truth and you will find it.

I just get so frustrated I need help. I ask questions thinking I could get a response. However, as a new believer I tend to ask questions that it seems everyone should know. I mean forgive my ignorance. Everyone was once a new believer, and think of it this way not everyone can understand things easily. I have trouble thinking anyone could treat you with the love the Bible shows. I've been abused so much in my life I have a hard time trusting anyone. I've developed walls to protect myself from being hurt. In order to have a true close walk with God I need to remove these walls and have my scars truly heal.

Thank you both for your kind words. The road to recovery can be long and hard. Having friends to help you along that road can make the journey easier. Jesus supporting me will be paramount in my healing. I've already shared most of my traumatic past. It's scattered about everywhere. I need to blog about it to have it all in one area. Sometimes just talking about it helps with the healing process.

The blog I have only has some of what I've been through. I've tried everything over the years to heal. The only thing I haven't done is have my Creator heal me. The Lord has my blueprints so to speak so that makes Him the ultimate mechanic.

Yeah I can only agree. I remember when I was a baby Christian i had to get all of my info from sermons at first. I didnt even ask questions in here. You might wanna check out Derek Prince. He can give you a good base. Hes on youtube. And build up on that. If you have questions feel free to ask us.

Hi rbd

I know EXACTLY how u feel and I’ve been here well over a year…

But as stated by Demi and Ricky don’t be afraid to use your ‘ignore’ button.

I have found some people and topics here that are quite edifying and have changed some lifelong views that I’ve held of my faith. It may take a bit of time getting around this site and seeing who u can relate with but you’ll see what’s important with time.

So great that u know Christ now – and welcome to CC!

There are many who sit behind there keyboard and feel really important being rude to someone. Unfortunately the world has become that way. Not everyone is like that but there are quite a few. Please don't let them make you feel bad. They have to live with themselves. I honestly think that people who get snarky like that aren't very happy. Ask away there are a lot of good people who want you to grow closer to Christ.

Aw that makes me sad that it's become this large of an issue :(
One of the things that really frustrates me is when a Christian doesn't act with the love and kindness towards others that Jesus would have. What is that representing of God? I have had many come to me and say "Well I once went to church, or I used to be a Christian but the people were just so mean."

But, I can tell you this.
Not everyone on this site are that way.
You can ALWAYS ask me quesstions!!!! Demi is very willing to listen (she's listened to my annoying rambling)
In fact many here have listened to my endless rambling. You just have to find the right people sweetie. Please ask questions! Don't stop that, you won't learn as much a could have.
God bless you♡

I just posted a new blog. It gives my whole backstory before getting saved. Granted it doesn't give every gory detail it gives almost everything. It paints close to the most complete picture of my past.

Well, if you are new, wouldn't it make sense that you make a lot of mistakes in the beginning? Isn't that the point of asking questions? But it won't be effective if you take offense when people offer you answers. But apparently suggesting not opening Gods direct guidance to be steered by people you have zero clue on their credibility isn't teaching wisdom, but is an insult. So i vow now to allow you to be guided by whatever random person opens their mouth and tells you something, even if it lacks wisdom. I won't offer anything else.

That's what you got out of what people have been telling you? Okay then you really shouldn't get any guidance online about anything, because you flip the advice around so much it hardly looks like what was given to you in the first place. "Fired up" turned into self-pity quickly.

My biggest problem is I tend to feel attacked when people say negative comments. I'm sorry it's partly due to being autistic. I am working on this particular flaw.

Well sometimes silence can be the best policy. In the meantime just remember that not everyone on here is a grumpy-gator. Some of the ones who sound mean might have the best advice but the way they express it might make you feel like you're chewing on the grapes of wrath. I think you'll figure it out eventually and like someone else said you can always put the really annoying ones on ignore.

Hi

The thing is. This is the internet. Christian or not, people will be (too) honest, and sometimes (too) critical.
Some are so just because they are jerks. Others are so because we have had a storm of trolls starting off asking "innocent" questions, then doing their best to cause strife. Sometimes we get too defensive.

I try to avoid the BDF, but sometimes I forget I should stay away and stray in there :p

Did someone get mad at you?
