So I was laid off from work today. I am actually pretty happy about it since it wasn't a healthy work environment for me. Since I got back from short term disability with cancer my supervisor has been treating me pretty bad. I confronted him about it and told him I wanted to speak with HR; he then threatened me with a write up that he had been saving on me. He also threatened me in an email with the company letting me go. I have basically been saving everything he has been saying to me and keeping it in case I turned him in to state Labor Department.

So even though I am happy I am gone, is this retaliation toward me? They are saying more people got laid off as well, but did they choose me because of what has been happening. I'm torn as a Christian if I should report this to the state or just let it go. I have had other employees tell me they have noticed him treating me differently than anyone else, so it isn't just me noticing it.

I guess I'm just venting a bit lol.

I'm sorry you got laid off but sometimes it is a blessing in disguise. And I'm glad you are somewhat happy about it. It could be retaliation but its hard for anyone of us to say, though it looks like it.

If you honestly want justice, pursue it. Don't do it out of spite or any personal feelings you have towards the guy.

Good luck to you with everything else (the cancer and future job prospects), by the way!

Sorry to hear of the lay-off. I've been laid off, so I know the difficulty it brings.

With that said, I would probably let bygones be bygones and not pursue any action against your supervisor or company. Just let it go and move on.

Jesus has opened another door Brother, go for the gold...also, take a vac from this whole mess
if you are able, and if you aren't, just ask your Maker, and He will fill you up with just
what you need...:)

You were let go because you weren't working enough. There is a law that says you can't be fired if you have a prolonged sickness, so he made up stuff. You can take him to court if you want, but the best you'd want is some descent back pay. Maybe it you get a lawyer just to ask questions they'll treat you better. And by better, since the job is miserable some severance pay would be helpful. Bosses do this because most employees won't fight it.

Hi Lynn. I have been keeping a list of things he has done since I came back from short term disability. I have thought about it and prayed and I am reporting him and the company to the State Labor Dept. I was told multiple people were being laid off when I left HR and as of today no one was laid off. I feel they wanted me gone because of my cancer and they are trying to cover it up with the economy. I even have another technician who started weeks after I did still working there. So we will see how it goes with the State investigating it.
