As a young Christian I am working at growing up as fast as possible. I read my Bible, pray, sing worship songs, witness, attend church, and serve God in any way I can. I am trying to figure out some things currently. I have been praying daily for God to reveal what my calling is. I also have been praying for God to reveal to me my spiritual gifts. To the best of my knowledge I have yet to have either one revealed to me. I want to serve God and put Him first in everything I do.

My thoughts on this subject vary. Option A: I am still too young to receive either prayer.

Option B: He wants me to wait.

Option C: He showed me but since I still have trouble at times recognizing God's voice it did not register.

Option D: Time is too short.

I do not know I'm just wanting these things and other Godly things, but haven't gotten 100% definitive proof of either one being revealed to me.

God will do things in His own time. What is my plan for my life I don't know but I trust Him to reveal it in His own time. At the moment I believe He wants me to join the army as a step to His great plan that He has in store for me. Just keep as your doing and He will show you.

It is great that you are trying to learn about God but sometimes we just need to allow God to guide us on this journey. Right now I think you are doing everything you want to do and maybe aren't sitting back and allowing God to speak to you? Our walk with God isn't all about singing, going to church etc. These are things we do as Christians but sometimes God just wants us to meditate on Him and really sit and listen. When we are the only one talking it is hard to hear the other person we are talking to.

Please be patient. Most of the time these things are not revealed until one is maturing in the Lord. You need to be well-grounded in the Word and your relationship with God before you can discern these things.

One other thing to think about: your spiritual gifts may change during your walk with God. So what He may gift you with initially may be different in 5 or 10 years.

Sounds like you're on the right path.

That's a great point. I guess in my eagerness to seek after God I am not calmed down enough to listen to anything He might be trying to say to me. I know God speaks through the Bible to us. However, there are many other ways that He can speak to us we just need to be still long enough to listen.

Another great point. It could also be I'm being impatient I am only a month old after all. I just want all He has for me. However, it needs to be in His time. You can't rush God after all. I was just trying to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.

Your not doing anything wrong. Make sure you allow God to get through with you that's all. Be quiet sometimes just sit and feel and hear God.

Not to sound stupid, but how do you sit, feel, and hear God. I'm still rather young and haven't picked up on certain things yet. Plus I thought some of the issue is maybe my faith isn't strong enough, I'm too young, or I'm being impatient. I just read the Bible and see someone like Paul he was instantly transformed, gifts revealed seemingly instantaneously, used immediately in growing the kngdom, and knew what God wanted him to do right away without question. I'm not comparing. Plus every person matures differently and everyone's gifting and calling is different to form the body of believers. We can't all be a hand or a mouth. The body must work in unison and have all parts together to work properly. I just want to do my part in the body. Is what I'm ultimately getting at.

Some are changed quicker that others. I sit and talk just like talk in my head and tell problems etc and He comes to me with His presence and voice in my head. It may be a gift but try it and see what happens.

Where did Jesus find His "calling?" He found it everywhere... as He simply lived His life, walking through the countryside.

Wasn't His calling predestined though? He would have known from very young what was His goal in life.

That's very true. From what I've seen a calling is a specific job or thing you're called to do by God.

I will say this I think I know what I'm called to do. However, I am not 100% sure it's what God actually wants me to do. Although it's still working for the good of the kingdom of Heaven. When I travel out in town I'll start talking to people out of the blue. I would estimate that 80% of those I speak with claim to be saved. Whether they are or not is between them and God. However, God seems to be using me to reignite their fire for God. The other 20% are not saved by their own admission and I tell them how to get saved. So far all I have done is plant seeds with that. I let God do the rest.

One person I spoke with last week said that she used to be a raging fire for God. Over the years she said her fire began to go dim. She was moved to tears and said to me you have reignited me. I said I didn't do anything God did it through me. She made a vow to restart her street evangelism ministry. Now whether or not this is my calling I'm still serving in the kingdom of Heaven. I am just wanting to do as God wants me to. What I am doing isn't bad or anything but I'm not sure if it's what I am called to do in the kingdom by God. We as Christians all have the great commission to do. That's essentially what I'm doing I just want to be sure I'm not supposed to do more than that.

There you go that is awesome keep at it! I would say being able to talk to people like that and help them reignite their fire is a gift and calling.

Yes I feel God working through me. I just want to be sure it's what God wants me to do not something I want to do. In other words I'm trying to be sure it's being done for the right reasons. If I'm not following His will then I'm not putting God first. However, this may be an attack on me by the enemy to get me to second guess doing this possible calling. The more Christians who are on fire the less control the enemy has in an area. Indifference and saying it's not my problem has made the world spiral out of control.

One thing we have to remember is that it is one step at a time. Sometimes we tend to rush things and miss what God is telling us. As mentioned, God will reveal things to you in His time. God will reveal your spiritual gifts to you so dont worry about that as when He does it will be like a lightbuld going off. He will also direct you in what He has for you. Be still and listen. Read a passage, write it down, put it in your pocket andcread it thru the day meditating on that passage. You are much like me as you are a deep thinker so your mind can think about a few things at a time. Try calming your mind and focusing on one thing that God is telling you.

We are an "instant gratification" creation. God doesnt "think" that way so allow Him to work in you at His pace. You are on the right track my friend. You are in my prayers.

No, His "calling" changed with every step He took. Sometimes He was a Healer, sometimes a Prophet, sometimes a Seer, sometimes a Preacher, sometimes a Protector, sometimes a Protagonist, sometimes a Friend, sometimes a "Bouncer", sometimes a Guest, sometimes a Prisoner, sometimes a Foot Washer, sometimes an Advisor, sometimes He provided meals, sometimes he was a Brother, sometimes a Son.

His "mission" was one thing, but how He accomplished that mission was what He was "called" to be and do at any given moment, wherever He happened to be. God will provide opportunities for you to be and do many things throughout your life as He chooses.

So you're saying be open to be used as God sees fit. In other words don't try to be only one thing and be like. God made this thing and only this thing as my mission. Do as the Lord leads however He leads. Seek after God and situations will crop up in your life where God uses you to work for the kingdom. Like how earlier today God had me help someone who didn't have enough money to pay for the food he was buying. I am really low on cash, but I helped him out of love. He looked surprised that anyone would help him out. I gave my testimony asked him if he was saved invited him to my church and encouraged him. He was down on his luck and looked depressed I told him about the power of God's love. He said he'll give some deep thought for coming to the church I go to.

I think the way the Bible worded it was... "Seek ye FIRST, the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, then all these things shall be added unto you."

Yes Willie that's very true. I'm doing my best to do that. My biggest problem is patience. It's as the old saying goes give me patience and give it to me now. I always found that saying very funny.
