Here is a good example of what I just pointed out.

http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...-conditional-unconditional-5.html#post2630806

The reaction is at the scriptures posted (not me) I didnt write them (and theres nothing from me on it)

The messenger becomes tne target and must answer for the apostles words, and so it must become personal to do that as if the answer (either way) would make void the words of God and bring his words to nothing. I never got that.
Remember what Jesus said about it's not you they hate, it was Him (being very the Word of Truth).

Ephes 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

The wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience
I thought my use of words might be a clue....
Then like in the days of old God's anger and wrath will wax hot and be poured out on them, because when He called they just hardened their hearts, and refused to listen.
Here God is speaking to his "chosen people" in the days of old...

Exodus 22:24
And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless."

Exodus 32:9-10 "And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:[SUP]10 [/SUP]Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation."

Provoking him to jealousy is spoken of also and that is tied into his wrath or his fury also

1 Cr 10:21-22 [FONT=&quot]Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. [/FONT][FONT=&quot]Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?[/FONT]

Well..the problem is that Jesus did say exactly who He was talking about in verse 15 and He said it was "false prophets". So, I'll have to side with Him. I agree we can all learn from these scriptures.

One of the biggest lies is the fact that you can lose your salvation as if it is your good deeds that will save or keep you in the first place. This shows a lack of believing in Christ's words.

Preach the grace of Christ and it will teach us how to live godly in this world so that we can be a good witness of the Lord's life in us.

As far as the "Lord, Lord thing" and "I never knew you"....

"I never knew you "...these people were not believers...( Jesus never said " I used to know you once."..He said I NEVER knew you at all...).

Everyone when they see Jesus will call Him Lord.....Jesus said that He "knows" His sheep so those in Matt. 7:19-33 are not true Christians.

John 10:14 (KJV)
[SUP]14[/SUP]I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Fair comment but a disciple is known by their fruit. Returning to the scriptures:Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? only through the authority of Christ, they can do this but I respect your views.

This is one big lie

2Thes 2:11-12 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

That is not accurate as Jesus Himself said that the sons of the Pharisees cast out demons. The other fact is that just because they said they cast our demons - doesn't mean they did. Jesus Himself said He was talking about false prophets. These are not in Christ.

It's a strange thing that people try so hard to disqualify those that are true believers in Christ when our Father Himself has said that He has qualified us.

Colossians 1:12 (NASB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

But you are entitled to your own opinions too. God bless you!

I agree..

Not believing the truth is not believing in Jesus and what He has done. Jesus is the truth. Believe in His complete salvation and work and not on our own performance.

Unrighteousness is trying to create and maintain one's own righteousness.

This is sin as all unrighteousness is sin.

If you notice that when we look at that verse in context we see that these people are not saved.

2 Thessalonians 2:10 (NASB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

We need to be telling people about the love of God shown in Jesus as He is the truth so that they will come to Him.

How do we overcome? John gives us the answer:

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 Jn 4:4)

Overcoming is not about jumping through hoops and satisfying the expectations of men. It’s about depending on The Overcomer who lives in you.

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 Jn 5:4-5)

Are you born of God? Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God? If yes, then the Overcomer lives in you and you can’t help but be an overcomer.

That’s why Jesus told the disciples to be encouraged during times of tribulation; because He – not they – had overcome the world and because they would carry his overcoming Spirit within them.

We are called to fight the good fight of faith! Believe in what Christ has done and His life will be manifested in every circumstance of our life while on this earth.

Just as every good tree brings forth good fruit, so does a bad tree bring forth evil. But did you know your words are also like fruit?

Proverbs 18:21Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Just as your ways be they good or evil are considered works=fruit

Jeremiah 32:19Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

Romans 7:5
For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

So even those who sin by word or deed are called workers of iniquity. Is that DIY self destruction-ism? Perhaps, or perhaps that's just the nature of da beasty. :)

So let your mouth bring forth good fruit that brings forth blessings, and not bad fruit which brings forth the curse.

Proverbs 18:20A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

Isaiah 57:19
I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him.

Hebrews 13:15
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Because words can also defile a man....

Matthew 15:11 "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

Matthew 15:18-20 "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.[SUP]19 [/SUP]For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

[SUP]20 [/SUP]These are the things which defile a man:...."

James 3:6
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

There seems to be some confusion with regards to people using 'works' and 'fruit' interchangeably when they are not the same thing.

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Hebrews 10:14

Solomon counsels us in Proverbs 4:23, to guard our hearts above all else. God begins in the heart and works outward. God redeems us; salvation is redemption both from sin and death and into the kingdom of God.

Getting back to Hebrews, we find two tenses explaining the process.

1) There has been one offering ~ Jesus. That is a one time offering. We do not need another one.

2) Sanctification ~ not a one time experience, but ongoing in the life of the believer (believer meaning those in Christ, who are redeemed by Him and are the saved according to the purposes of God)

Some teach that even sanctification is a one time process; stating that it is the work of the believer to set themselves apart and separate themselves from the world. While one can certainly do so, that is not biblical sanctification no matter how much one fights with their flesh, the world and the devil.

True biblical sanctification would be a co-operative work in the life of the believer as they walk in the light, as Christ is in the light, and so submit themselves to Him and are changed in their mind, by the word of God (And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what
is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

Fruit, is the evidence of the Holy Spirit indwelling the believer; it is not good deeds or work. The Bible makes this very plain in Galatians 5:22 love, joy, peace and so on This fruit becomes evident as an expression of the life of God, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, as we remain in Christ.

Works, are not fruit, although it is fair to say that works are the further evidence of the fruit of the believer whose life is in Christ and are demonstrations of the scriptural definition of 'walking in the light.'

It is also true, that people can manufacture their own works, but any true work that originates from God, will have the love of God at it's core. It is not knowledge nor it is human ability that can ever produce such work, as it must be the Holy Spirit operating through the believer because God will not tolerate any person boasting or taking His glory. All, must give glory to God and be submitted to Him for His approval.

We cannot bear fruit, apart from Christ, that God will find acceptable. These works, done apart from God, done in the name of 'good works' or even charity or church or humanity, will be burned and the believer themselves spared if they are in Christ. Works will be tested by fire. (I Cor. 3: 12-14)

So, fruit is really our life in Christ; we cannot bear fruit apart from that life.

Works, are the result of the fruit and if not ordained by God, that is, a desire of the flesh to appear to be a certain way, will not stand the test of fire.

I Corinthians chapter 13 makes it very plain that even if you give your body to be burned, yet the love of God does not constrain you to do so, that offering is in vain and God does not accept it.

We cannot judge the heart of another person. When someone crosses the line and judges territory that belongs to God alone, that person will have visited upon them the very judgement they have used in their opinions of others. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Matthew 7:2

Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

1 John 1:7-9

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The Holy Spirit does not up and leave us if we sin (living in unrepentant sin is not a one time sin or omission or commission and should not be confused with this; even so, God knows those who are His and He will go out after a sheep that has strayed from the fold as scripture makes plain.)

David committed adultery and had the husband of the woman placed at the front of battle so that he would loose his life.

When confronted by Nathan, he confessed his sin. Yet, David did not pray for the Holy Spirit to be returned, rather he begged God not to take His Spirit from him.

this is really mis-use of Scripture, just making a point, and plucking out verses to make a point.
truly saved people will produce fruit. now, how much, how quick, quality, these may differ, as God has given us each different gifts.

but just plucking out verses, blending O.T. and N.T. is dangerous. you are correct about bearing fruit, but not a good, or loving way to teach it.

Fair comment but a disciple is known by their fruit. this post is an example of confusing works and fruit

the poster cites disciples are known by their fruit and then gives Matt 7:22 as evidence of what he states, however that scripture speaks of WORKS not fruit

this confusion does not help the understanding of those who desire to grow in the truth of the word of God

it is important to distinguish one from the other

Good post! This here was a good one to point out

Prov 1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices

Isaiah 3:10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings

Jerm 6:19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it

Mic 7:13 Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings

This sounds really bad for all of us.

Exodus 32:33 (NASB)
[SUP]33 [/SUP] The LORD said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.

Although this scripture is a true saying - it is not "the truth". We can make the bible say whatever we want by posting random scriptures taken out of context and not filtered through the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh,,wait...what if we actually interpret this scripture in light of what Jesus has already done for us in the New Covenant. This will bear fruit in our lives as we live in Him now.
