Help me understand what is a 'white american

Frankly, I'm getting really tired of everyone trying to identify each other as a some race. I'm an immigrant mutt -- half Lithuanian, quarter Irish, quarter German. I guess that classifies me as "white." However, whenever I take a survey, I refuse to answer the race questions on them because it's simply not helpful. How does this constant classification of race help race relations?

I know folks who are part Asian, part Native American and part European. That makes it IMPOSSIBLE to put a moniker on their race. They are simply American. That is how I want to be identified.

i agree in New Zealand its sort of like people say certain activities or behaviour isnt new zealand culture. New Zealanders are new zealanders regardless of what they do

its complicated in New Zealand for example im a New Zealand European but that ONLY means im anglo saxon (U.K) as far as im aware* but what really taht should include is europeans from outside U.k not just anglos . Its seems selective.

Thanks for the reputation Peacenik cheers - I was actually thinking of something personal Apparently my grandma is Jewish we have little evidence but does sound convincing but not at all to n others its my Dads mum so therefore we don't classify as being Jewish to me I don't believe the Lord personally wants that whole law of return mess that it is present day , Im not against messianics but its probably not just religious spirits with very orthodox jews dominating the scene messianics haven't really helped either in this I know im Jewish but people like myself somehow don't fit the 'jewish' mould and I would love to make Aliyah (get jewish immigration and return there) but I cant because not just politically but people throwing stroppies/ a stroppy.

1.) Are some americans white american because their classed by a term(they are one ) but choose not to be called white americans because they have mixed race which isnt white or say they had recent european acenstry like parents who are sweedish but prefer not to be classed as a white american because maybe white americans are from anglo saxon descent ?

Scripture tells us that people are going to say every kind of lie to us but we are to believe Christ. My point is those lies could possibly appear as news on TV as well. This may not answer your question but it may help with another question in the future or it may help someone else.

I used to consider myself a White American based on what I knew of my ancestry. The ancestry was performed right, and verified through multiple sources, and the volumes of records stand as written, but a thorough DNA profile has informed me that I have genetics from other haplotypes that are NOT white. Ultimately, I am as much a mutt as most other people and the only thing truly white about me is the inability to tan and inability to dance or follow rhythm.
