Let's be honest. As humans, one of our biggest fears is death.
The wages of sin is death. Sin brings death.
But when the Savior took our place, and paid the penalty we could not pay, the fear of death should be removed.
At this point, we don't obey God for fear of death, but we obey God because we love Him, and His instructions are righteous.

I think you will find some symbolism in the Bible. Here is an example:

[17] "Yet your people say, `The way of the Lord is not just'; when it is their own way that is not just.
[18] When the righteous turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, he shall die for it.
[19] And when the wicked turns from his wickedness, and does what is lawful and right, he shall live by it.

I think the word “die” symbolizes suffering, and the word “live” symbolizes the opposite.

Right. It's contrasting the lost with the saved. Which is why you need to be freed from the Law of sin and death or else you're toast. What the Law could not do, Christ did.

I don't think you are reading it out. The carnal mind is not subject to the Law of God, - the contrast is, those who do not have a carnal mind ARE (gladly) subject to the Law of God, not for salvation, but because His instructions are righteous and not selfish at all.

Christians live by faith in Jesus Christ, not by "instructions".

Do you know why??

Because we have been crucified with Christ and we no longer live, but Christ lives in us. And the life we now live in the body, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and who gave Himself for us. (ref. Gal. 2:20)

brother, if you have been (really) crucified with Messiah, then yes, sure, it is Messiah who lives in you. If Messiah lives in you, you have no worries.
I am just saying, everyone who says they have been "crucified with Messiah" are not grasping the full meaning of that.

A person who is truly crucified with Messiah, will want every minute of their life to be about Messiah.

As long as you are walking in the physical body, you have a carnal mind. It's called the flesh. We as Christians are ruled spiritually by the Spirit of Christ, and from glory to glory we die daily to the carnal mind that tries to rule us by our own understanding. The Lord is at work within us helping us to learn to hear him above our own intellect and teaching us to follow him.

It's not you keeping yourself holy - it's Christ ruling & reigning in our mortal bodies and he himself is holy in us.

Well you either submit to the leadership of Messiah - which is righteousness,
or you don't always submit to the leadership which leads to a state of less than righteousness.
But make no mistake, you have to make the choices as long as you are in this physical body.

It's about life, not sinless perfection. We who have been crucified with Christ have also been raised together with Him to life.
