The title pretty much says it all. Will you go to hell for suicide or is it just the Catholics blowing hot air again?

Jesus identified one only unpardonable sin, and it was not suicide.

If we got sick in our body and died - we go to heaven to be with the Lord. It's the same thing if we get sick in our mind too.

Suicide is a sickness of the mind where people are attacked with thoughts and impulses to end their lives because of depression and despair. The preaching of the gospel of the grace of Christ will put an end to all that.

Amen. It is always such a tragedy when someone ends their life for whatever reason, usually due to feelings of lack of self worth, which is tied to our views of our worldly performance. Feeling like such a failure can be a very lonely painful place. Sin need not have the victory when Christ has taken all upon Himself.

That's sort of a hard question, I think. The Bible says do not murder, and I think that suicide counts as murder - murdering yourself, so to speak. But the Bible also says that is one believes in God and repents of their sin, they will be saved. But unlike all other sins, it would seem to me like it would be a bit hard to repent afterwards, for obvious reasons. So I don't know, really. But I wouldn't risk it.

I would say it breaks God's heart to see people suffer so much. The problem of evil is one of the sticking points for many non-believers. They find it hard to accept that God can allow such suffering to the point of death. And yet we live in a fallen world where people are the ones who are causing much of the pain and suffering. All the more reason to look forward to that glorious day when Jesus returns.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along
with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.

Mental illness is not a sin.
Suicide as a result of mental illness is not a sin.

Let us not contribute to the stigma associated with mental illness.
Rather, as wise Christians let us encourage those who are ill to seek help, pray for their healing, and, most importantly, give them the loving support just as Jesus Christ would.

Suicide is a touchy subject for me because it has touched my life a few times. Normally, I'd share my thoughts on the subject, but given the OP titled this thread with a purposely inflammatory anti-Catholic spin, I'm going to go ahead and venture a guess he's just trolling folks to get a debate going. Best of luck to you in your Catholic hate, OP. May your trolling bear much fruit.

As per the OP: The title pretty much says it all. Will you go to hell for suicide or is it just the Catholics blowing hot air again?

Now I am well aware there is a large swath of people here at CC that think Catholics are baby-eating Satan worshippers, or at the very least non-Christian, but any fool can see that opening statement as troll bait. I normally don't subscribe to threads because once I've thrown my two cents in, I have nothing further to discuss nor am I obligated to interact with anyone, but I'll keep an eye on this thread only because the storms here in Iowa have knocked out my satellite TV and I'm bored.

Death pursues each and every one of us, but Jesus holds the keys to life, and has overcome the world, death, and sin. True meaning and purpose can be found only in and through Him.

The only thing I can think of regarding suicide, is that suicide is an extremely selfish act. When we are selfish, our focus is not on God, but on self. In essence we have a case of self idolatry. In addition it's the individual taking control of the fate of their life instead of relying on God's purpose and outcome for their life.

I think a lot of what the Catholic Religion teaches far as tradition is nonsense and non biblical.

Well, then isn't it wonderful that it only took about 1500 years before someone figured that out and got Christianity "right"?

LOL

Now I'm just waiting for someone to accuse me of being Catholic and trying to beat the "hell" out of me with their Bible by quoting Scripture about the 2nd commandment, Matthew 23:9, and anything else Catholic bashers like to throw out as ammo. I'll go get some popcorn.

Nah, you aren't worth the time. If anyone is trolling it is you. You commented on this thread just to start an argument and are looking for a fight. Your intentions are clear
