'Educatin' with Satan': Satanic Temple pushing after school clubs

"Doug Mesner, the Satanic Temple’s co-founder, told the Post it boils down to this: If Christian evangelical groups have already staked a claim in after-school programs, why shouldn’t Satanists have a seat at the table as well?"

The fact that people in the US are entertaining this statement tells us all we need to know what time it is. Any other countries out there that have after school satan clubs? Just curious.

.... are they five years old? (the ones suggesting it)
I mean... it's clearly intended to provoke.... it's like a kid walking over to another kid and tugging their hair for a reaction

I think ultimately the One they are trying to mock will not be...but you're right the tantrums are progressing.

Is Satanism protected by the First Amendment?

That's the real question- is it a religion?
I'm not sure if the Supreme Court has ruled on a definition, but a google definition for religion is "a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion". I think their mission statement fits the bill.

In this particular case, I would say it is not a religion. This movement is claiming that they do not worship satan, but rather use the concept of a "satan" to propose that all religion is tyrannical and therefore Christianity should not be forced on children. The key word there is "forced".

That's my first inclination given their recent behavior.

If one is a true constitutionalism (as many here claim), one should be supportive of religious freedom, even when it isn't our Christian faith.

If I'm being truthful, I'd rather see The Satanic Temple (TST) teaching people of their atheistic/secular views than other religious groups teaching to hate/kill people for not worshiping their god. The founding fathers desired religious freedom for all, and it would be a disservice to deny it to all brands of faith with the exception of the one we subscribe to.

I'll be praying that they all turn to Jesus Christ in the meantime.

The court's have allowed a satanic statue to be placed in the public square based upon free speech rights. Note that this sort of ruling comes from the civil war era mindset of the 14th amendment cults in law and religion (Pharisees). The mindset says do not discriminate good from evil, for we are evil, wanting to be seen as good.

Agree. IMO, the big difference is culture is now allowing it, there is no outcry. The Constitution has not changed, but the heart of people has. And what is the target the enemy prefers first and foremost? Children.

Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

I kinda think that they do have the right to do so. People find God even from those Churches and worse.

Thanks for sharing this topic and article - I saw it earlier in the week and was distracted ...
The article below is very similar but adds some details, the satanic promo video clip and a reference to The Washington Post ...
Satanic Temple wants 'After School Satan' clubs at elementary schools nationwide | syracuse.com

The organization does not hide the fact that they are doing this in a direct response to the existence of Good News Clubs.

"We are only doing this because Good News Clubs have created a need for this," Greaves said. "If Good News Clubs would operate in churches rather than public schools, that need would disappear. But our point is that if you let one religion into the public schools you have to let others, otherwise it's an establishment of religion."

The Liberty Counsel, one of the religious right advocacy groups that brought the 2001 case to the Supreme Court, does not officially object to TST's right to create its own clubs.

"I would definitely oppose after*-school Satanic clubs, but they have a First Amendment right to meet," Mat Staver, Liberty Counsel's founder and chairman, told the Post. "I suspect, in this particular case, I can't imagine there's going to be a lot of students participating in this. It's probably dust they're kicking up and is likely to fade away in the near future for lack of interest."

True, what may begin as a misguided fascination can send us running straight to God as soon as we see evil up close. These are folks that can become strong and unmoved in the Lord.

to be honest with you, most satanists take children quite seriously. Now when there comes a child and tells them the gospel of peace it makes them think more than a adult (im not kidding) theyre the opposite of many christians on that. Plus More and more people from satans kingdom are coming to God through prayers and people going talking to them like normal people.

I agree - it is the intentional, continuous and long term corruption of a culture by the Pharisees both government and religion. The Constitution has not changed but in one day, nine guys and gals in robes hiding behind benches with hammers can change the legal system, and with it society, with their "opinion", often with cases set up as strawmen. Continued over and over for 200 years the system falls. With Justinian and Muhhamud looking over them these nine can wreak havoc.

The civil war and 14th amendment were a turning point but it started well before the US was a nation. Slavery and The New Atlantis cults from Rome and London established churches and colleges in the New world that were set up to corrupt. Each generation in it's own myopic view does not see these things (by deceptive design). Laid out in a 400 year timeline they are obvious.
