Wrong and wrong and no biblical basis.
Sorry I read your post wrong, please forgive me.
Wrong and wrong and no biblical basis.
OK at least you have a position. You discount 1 Cor 13:8 but you have a position.
I would say that believing what is in the word of God is sufficient. Experience is very subjective whereas Gods word is unchangeable and eternal.

Without an experience it's tradition or religion. It's just head knowledge.
.
you are being evasive...evasive was not used as a label...rather as a verb
this thread is about speaking in tongues, so do you or not believe that gift is for today?
hope that is plain enough
is the expression I am not a church person somehow supposed to make me think you are being made to answer what you can't?
in the other thread, you presented yourself as someone conducting expert research and coming to expansive conclusions...not being a church person (whatever that is) did not seem to bother you then
not buying it
anyway...gone for the week-end now...thankfully
Wow, I said I was being evasive and playing around.
Well maybe I am a cessationist maybe not, I said I do believe God continues to heal, tongues is not something I have really thought about. I guess I will first have to do some expert research.however I have way more other pressing issues first, but I can put tongues on the list.
No I do not belong to a church, as in denomination, but I have a fellowship group, and you know what else we as a group research together as good Bereans should!
Yup Goodbye. Have a good weekend
Exactly. The ministry of satan is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). The fact that satan spends so much time talking believers out of the manifestation of the Spirit (and I'm not talking about tongues only, I'm talking about all shown in 1 Cor 12:8-10 --- word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues) --- anyway, the fact that satan spends so much time talking believers out of the manifestation of the Spirit serves only to reveal there is much benefit to be gained by the body of Christ in the utilization of the manifestation.RickyZ said:satan does indeed falsify tongues, just as he tries to defraud everything of God. The fact that satan does this indicates that there are true tongues - else satan wouldn't bother with it. Discernment is the key, not tossing the baby with the bathwater.
If you need an expert you want get it.
But the word of God says DO NOT FORBID SPEAKING IN TONGUES. Which you do on an all too regular basis. So, as the list I have compiled on you clearly demonstrates, believing the word of God is NOT sufficient for you.
Where can i find it in the bible, please
You must rightly divide the word of truth.Religiousness? Right so we should just ignore all of 1 Co 14 because you say so.
Accusing me of denying the Holy Spirit is a backhanded slap not only against me but against the Lord Who saved me. Your protestations of innocence are invalid. I'm not going to hold it against you.I don't slap people. they generally manage to do a good job of that themselves
who do you think YOU are slapping when you say believers who speak in tongues are doing so by the power of the devil?
you cannot say you accept this gift but not that gift
the Holy Spirit will never say certain gifts have ceased...He would never say that
so who are the people who try to excise certain gifts actually listening to?
the rhetoric that I slapped you is total nonsense
you are trying to defend something that cannot be defended
Do you believe that tongues are ecstatic utterances or human languages? But the word of God says DO NOT FORBID SPEAKING IN TONGUES. Which you do on an all too regular basis. So, as the list I have compiled on you clearly demonstrates, believing the word of God is NOT sufficient for you.

1 Corinthians 14:39 (NASB)
[SUP]39 [/SUP] Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.
I think every language must have some syntax and logic.
If you hear some "ga ga ga ga!" sounds (yeah, I have heard many of such "tongues") you can be sure it is not any language.
Simple Definition of ecstatic
- : very happy or excited : feeling or showing ecstasy

They are neither. They are utterances of the Holy Spirit, Who speaks to things we know nothing of.

Ever heard of Holy Laughter, there are many that definitely believe in it, people will laugh uncontrollable all through a service.
They say this is a gift of the Holy Spirit.

I have heard of laughter, more often groanings, but the word 'uncontrollable' makes me nervous. 'Out of control' is generally not of God, since He is a God of order and Paul tells us tongues should be orderly.
