Oh and I'm also not a huge fan of the .380. Ick.
OK!!! NOW YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR! :D

Actually, I'm not a great fan of it, either, but for hot weather, shorts/t-shirts, it's difficult to find a better CCW. Power-wise, it's barely adequate.... but WAY better than harsh words.

There are lot of ways for ladies to conceal. It's just a matter of finding the right gun and the right clothing (same with men). I knew a very petite woman who managed to conceal a full-size .45 cal Sig. I doubt it was comfortable, but she did it.

She also wore sweatshirts a lot.

I'd stay away from purse holsters. Way harder to remove if you ever need them. I'm a big believer in split-second presentation. So much so that I only wear an IWB holster when I absolute have to (usually an office setting).
my, um, waistband isn't big enough for an IWB holster. I'm working on it, though...

It's fine if you wear a button up over a regular shirt all the time (I do that half the time anyway) but obviously that's not always fashionable.
Right! I'm not a real fashionable person (I go with what looks good on me rather than the latest fad) but I am a pretty dressy person, and it is hard to find dressy clothing that you can conceal a weapon in. Someday I should introduce my love of fashion design to my love of guns and make a special clothing line just for women who carry :D

The question is: if a purse holster is your only option (sorry, there's no where to conceal a gun if you're wearing a LBD) is it better than nothing?

First off.... what's an LBD?

But, yes, a purse works... you simply have to be WAY more vigilant about not letting it get left laying around somewhere.

edit:..... Little Black Dress? It just came to me.

"thunderwear" might work.... I imagine it depends on how "well" your LBD fits... I know, I shouldn't be imagining that...

Um! Well, I'm not going into the pain-in-the-neck women's fashions here, but yes, it all depends on the fit. WHEN I actually get my gun, I'm sure I'll be way more aggressive in looking for ways to carry. For casual wear, my sisters find belly bands work really well.

You're just torturing me because you know I want one....

Take some pics of your targets (and gun, of course) and post em for us to see.... can't remember.. is yours a .45, or .357? I suppose it could be a .44, too...? Enquiring minds want to know...

duh.... I re-read your post... .45 it is! Do you reload for it?

I love how your parents insist that you walk armed. That's awesome.

With me it's the opposite. My dad has a couple guns, but never, ever carries.
My grandfather is ALWAYS packing, and he has a closet full of guns. And three locks on his solid oak bedroom door. So when my cousin found out something sort of disturbing about someone she knew, guess where she hung out for several days?

Little Black Dress. To many men, it might as well be Kryptonite.

Sorry peoples! I didn't think on that one. Yep, Little Black Dress. It's just a name for a standard, knee length fitted black dress, and it has the reputation for being appropriate anywhere you go. (Private fashion designer nerd alert!)

You would be surprised how easy it would be to conceal a decent gun under even the tightest fitting dresses.

For tips see You Tube or any Republican Women's Club south of the Mason-Dixon.

It depends what you're comfortable carrying.

P290RS is a decent gun (7 rounds of 9mm). If you want something with a bit more firepower, it looks like the P239 and P238 would be doable options depending on your height and build.

I'm not a believer in drastically altering clothing habits when there are so many decent gun and holster options on the market.

While I understand your statement, and agree with most of it, there is another reason for killing animals, and that is population control.

Some animals have no natural predators, and very rapidly overpopulate an area, which is much more detrimental to the animals than hunting/killing is.

Wild hogs are the most obvious "offender" in this category. They breed like rabbits, having two to three litters a year, sometimes 8-10 in a litter. While the little pigs are targets of prey for some predators, the hog herd is pretty intimidating toward any predator, so many of the babies grow up to make MORE babies.

All across the south, hogs have become an epidemic.... absolutely destroying farm and ranch land for use. It has gotten so bad that it has become legal to shoot them from helicopters. You wouldn't believe the damage a SMALL herd of hogs can do to farm crops or ranch land.... it literally looks like a huge roto-tiller has gone through.

Prarie dogs have been much the same way, but not quite as destructive..... but even they can destroy farm and ranch land quickly, if not controlled. They used to be controlled by poisoning, which tends to kill off a lot of other predator animals who eat the poisoned p-dogs. Plus, to my mind, a bullet that kills an animal instantly is MUCH preferred to a slow death by poison.

I have lost much of my desire to hunt, as I've gotten older, but I still would harvest a deer/elk/small pig simply because I enjoy eating them.
Yes, controlling the population is necessary. It helps to eliminate the spread of diseases within the population. And, as with wild hogs, they can destroy the natural habitat of other creatures who depend on it for their survival.

However, even in this case, the meat from such animals should still be harvested, and, if nothing else, donated to local food banks and such.

What is that yellow stuff? No, not the lemon, those other things. Looks like squash with parsley sprinkles.
Those are potatoes. Heavily buttered.

I totally agree with you. With the exception of uneatable pests, we eat all the animals we shoot.
