According to many people, in order to have salvation you just have to believe/have faith, but that makes no sense because even the demons believe in God and know God exist. Since that's the case do we follow Christ examples and believe they will give us eternal life?
I think you need to do two things. First, accept the Lord's forgiveness. Second, repent of your sin.

---How to receive salvation---

Oooooo, what a FUN sounding topic, one I'm certain NO one has EVER tackled before, so let's dive right in, SHALL WE??

FIRST, You say there are many people who claim you just have to have faith in order to have salvation?

wwwhhhhhyyyyyyyy THAT's just CRAZY talk!

They seem to have completely overlooked all the rules, regulations and requirements, also known as prerequisites by people that don't know any better.

There's the whole water thing, for instance.
Not the spray or sprinkle, but the pool.

Have they never been told that you need to get in the water,
stand on one leg, flap your arms, and quack like a duck?!

This is most important, and must be done correctly,
the evidence of that being the spontaneous outburst of speaking in unknown nursery rhymes. (Once upon a lime in a land far, far and wide, for instance)

Of course, do this incorrectly and it can lead to the very dark and scary harmonic possession, causing you to utter Wooooo...wooOOOooo in foreboding tones.

This must be immediately renounced, along with any known and unknown association with the Diffy-cult in the name of JohnJacobJingleheimerSchmidt.

(This is not to be confused with the Daffy-cult, which is OK, provided you allow for long-suffering succotash.)

There's so much, but perhaps some other loving and capable sisters or brothers here can fill you in on more, as the list can be quite extensive.

But WHEW, so glad you asked so we could clear this up in the nick of time.

We may have avoided a disasterous theological debate of opinions,
which are quite forbidden here in the BubbleyDooForum.

We are NOT saved by believing.

Ephesians 2:8
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For by grace you have been saved

We are saved by the Grace of God. Or we can say Grace from God. It really does not matter. Its still by Grace we are saved.

Now eating the blood and body is all about the Lord's Supper we do. We can do it daily or weekly or monthly.

1 Corinthians 11
[SUP]23 [/SUP]For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; [SUP]24 [/SUP]and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” [SUP]25 [/SUP]In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” [SUP]26 [/SUP]For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

Are we literally eating the Blood and Body of Jesus? No. We are eating crackers and grape juice but they do represent the Body and Blood of Jesus.

Its the false Catholics who claim we are literally eating the Blood and Body of Jesus.

We're saved by grace through faith.

if you believe that Jesus Christ is God's heart and God's soul,
and surrender all your heart to Him, and obey whatever He tells
you to do, you will know for sure that Christ's Salvation is yours...
for we give up all of the old for all of the new because of the Holy Love
He has given to us...

True, but where did the Faith come from? Us or God?

Galatians 3:23-25
[SUP]23 [/SUP]But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. [SUP]24 [/SUP]Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. [SUP]25 [/SUP]But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor

Faith is from God.

Faith is from God, Salvation is from God, being Justified is from God. Face it folks, God has done everything for us to receive Salvation. All we have to do is receive it!

How do we receive his blood according to the bible?

the blood of Jesus speaks of His substitutionary work on the cross. so to receive the blood of Jesus implies that you acknowledge that He is the son of God who came in the flesh(takes up the nature of mankind) and died on the cross not only FOR us , but as US.

perfect mc99! just let me just chip in something. The faith by which we respond (receive) salvation like you have just stated, is the faith of God, not ours( Gal 2: 20) Take note is said in this passage, that its the by the faith OF the son of God and not by faith IN the son of God; The glorious gospel of our lord provides us with the faith to believe. thus faith in the new testament is not a requirement for salvation but the consequence of salvation.

Hello Mec99,

Ephesians 2:8
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For by grace you have been saved

Why would you leave off the rest of the scripture? You cut it off! Here is the whole scripture:

"For it is [by grace] you have been saved [through faith], and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."

So, according to the full scripture, salvation is by the free gift of God's grace and the individuals part is faith. Our belief is a response to the in-birthing of faith that God gives to us. Paul's point being that salvation is not something that can be earned by performing works. Faith is what keeps us connected to God's grace.

[SIZE=+1]4102 pístis (from 3982/peithô, "persuade, be persuaded") – properly, persuasion (be persuaded, come to trust); faith.
[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Faith (4102/pistis) is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people. In short, 4102/pistis ("faith") for the believer is "God's divine persuasion" – and therefore distinct from human belief (confidence), yet involving it. The Lord continuously births faith in the yielded believer so they can know what He prefers, i.e. the persuasion of His will (1 Jn 5:4). [/SIZE]

Good day Save By Grace,

Yes, our belief is a response to God's in-birthing of faith.

"Ro 12:3: "For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith(4102/pistis)" (NASU).
