Somehow, the discussion will lead to what's really the gift of God is. Is it eternal life or faith? What I believe is eternal life, that is the gift of God and not faith...
Thank you
Thank you
According to many people, in order to have salvation you just have to believe/have faith, but that makes no sense because even the demons believe in God and know God exist. Since that's the case do we follow Christ examples and believe they will give us eternal life?

---How to receive salvation---
Oooooo, what a FUN sounding topic, one I'm certain NO one has EVER tackled before, so let's dive right in, SHALL WE??
FIRST, You say there are many people who claim you just have to have faith in order to have salvation?
wwwhhhhhyyyyyyyy THAT's just CRAZY talk!
They seem to have completely overlooked all the rules, regulations and requirements, also known as prerequisites by people that don't know any better.
There's the whole water thing, for instance.
Not the spray or sprinkle, but the pool.
Have they never been told that you need to get in the water,
stand on one leg, flap your arms, and quack like a duck?!
This is most important, and must be done correctly,
the evidence of that being the spontaneous outburst of speaking in unknown nursery rhymes. (Once upon a lime in a land far, far and wide, for instance)
Of course, do this incorrectly and it can lead to the very dark and scary harmonic possession, causing you to utter Wooooo...wooOOOooo in foreboding tones.
This must be immediately renounced, along with any known and unknown association with the Diffy-cult in the name of JohnJacobJingleheimerSchmidt.
(This is not to be confused with the Daffy-cult, which is OK, provided you allow for long-suffering succotash.)
There's so much, but perhaps some other loving and capable sisters or brothers here can fill you in on more, as the list can be quite extensive.
But WHEW, so glad you asked so we could clear this up in the nick of time.
We may have avoided a disasterous theological debate of opinions,
which are quite forbidden here in the BubbleyDooForum.

Wow...a bit heavy on the sarcasm?
When I get like this God normally tells me to take time away from cc and spend some quiet time with Him....just a suggestion.
Why does God talk directly to you and tell you what to do, but with me, He uses you to just make suggestions? Hardly seems fair.Wow...a bit heavy on the sarcasm?

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
The gift of God is God! But there are now so many personalized definitions and hooey on this thread, it's nothing but a game to win anymore. (Not referencing you, Fred. Just suggesting that since everyone went off and invented their own definitions and "semantics," no one is listening anymore anyway.)Somehow, the discussion will lead to what's really the gift of God is. Have you even tried, to find out if it hurts or not? (And that wasn't sarcasm. That was noting your flippancy on more than one thread.)
Sorry, negative Nellie, didn't know you were the standard-bearer for prim and proper personality.Have you even tried, to find out if it hurts or not? (And that wasn't sarcasm. That was noting your flippancy on more than one thread.)
Hello fredoheaven,
Yes, eternal life is the gift of God, but it comes through faith, which God gives to each believer. As scripture states, God gives each of us a measure of faith. Without the gift of God's in-birthing of faith, we cannot obtain eternal life. Faith is never something that the believer is able to produce on his/her own. It is God who in-births faith in us and our part is our belief, our being persuaded of that revelation. As you can see from the scripture provided, faith is in deed a gift from God.
No. Obviously, you think you are. Assigning blame to anyone who disagrees with you or calls you on it. And passing off your own blame with "hurts" and "semantics."Sorry, negative Nellie, didn't know you were the standard-bearer for prim and proper personality.
oh come on Lynn, knock off the petty nonsense. I couldn't give a ratsis who disagrees with me and you know it. Semantics, huh. Gosh, one good brother used it properly in his post, and people had to run and look it up and start using it themselves. Lol.No. Obviously, you think you are. Assigning blame to anyone who disagrees with you or calls you on it. And passing off your own blame with "hurts" and "semantics."
"Faith" there is not speaking of saving faith, but of the Christian faith and the ministry of which each of us has been given a “measure of". No one person is capable of expressing the total faith-expression of the Body of Christ, the Church. Which is why we need each other.
It goes along with what Paul says in, 2 Cor. 10:12-13, that we will not (nor can we or should we) boast beyond the measure we have been given, but we will (we can and we would be right to do so) boast within the measure of the sphere which God apportioned to us as a measure. We should not shrink from declaring the truth we have been given, neither should we go beyond what we have been given.
