I have to admit that I thought Trump reached an all time low whenever he jumped into Veteran Gate like he did. I was definitely wrong. Last night he made it clear that he's willing to sink even lower. I know his intent is not to get somebody hurt, but he, a nominee, should know better than to say horrendous things like that. A president does not speak like that.

That goes for everybody else as well. We should not tolerate people advocating any kind of violence against the candidates (or anybody, really). Hopefully we will not see posts advocating that on here.

Yes, I did too, but that's not my point. Problem is he is saying just about anything, and he is paving the way for his adversaries all the time. I'm afraid that if he gets elected, he will be paving the way for foreign adversaries as well. He does not think before he speak. And if what he says is premeditated, then I'm concerned about what his plans are.

I gotta say, I have no idea at all why this guy Trump was nominated. I think the republicans are out of their minds. This guy can't run a worse race. Clinton can't tell the truth to save her and is totally inept, but Trump keeps saying things like this latest regardless of the consequences. He has to know the press is going to jump all over him.

Just as recently as 20 years ago, it would have been unimaginable to have two candidates like these two schleps.
This is just a manifestation of where our country is at.
Like ancient Israel, we are getting rulers that represent our decadence.
Sad to say, we are getting what we deserve.
And worse, in about another 20 years, these two will look not so bad compared to what is coming.
Yes, it can get worse.

If you look at the primary reasons for the 2nd Amendment, stated by the founders and writers of the Constitution, that statement is exactly correct.

The 2nd is NOT about duck hunting.

Should German citizens have risen up and overthrown Hitler, when he disarmed the population?

EVERY genocide this world has seen has followed the forced disarming of the general population. Our founders had seen exactly that type of thing before, and were determined that it would not happen here.

He probably meant it like they can lobby against her or something.

Not that you didn't realize that. I don't know why anyone would want to be President. Especially now when we have the press and the internet making thing's worse than they are.

Trump using the word "if" sets up a hypothetical scenario where she is elected president. To pretend and say "well, he meant the 2nd amendment people can vote to stop her from being elected" is just not true and is dishonest.

I'll say this much, Trump had me laughing out loud with his statement. He doesn't really advocate for violence, but he says witty comments that one would jokingly say around a bunch of friends. Of course the "maybe there is" is in reference to violent action. One could even warrant such violent action by the "2nd amendment people" in the event the Supreme Court (which Hillary nominates in Trump's hypothetical scenario) by taking away all the guns. However, I've never heard either side argue for absolutely no guns...

Yes Trump stumbled with this quote...even if it was a joke it was in poor taste....but yet again the Media runs like a rabid dog to make it a big deal again....nevermind the 4 people in 6 weeks that are mysteriously dead and knew Clinton....hmm....or the demon possession of HC....all her symptoms show she is demon possessed.....hard to control whatever got invoked into her I guess at the bilderberg grove.....

That's what he is claiming today, but if that's true, then how does he explain why he said, "...that would be a terrible day." (right after he said there is something they can do about it, "but that would be a terrible day"..):(

I'm pretty sure 99.9% of Trump's supporters know what he really meant. They are taking a page out of Johnnie Cochran's book and playing defense attorney.

It's sincerely dishonest to pretend he didn't imply violent action could be taken to stop Hillary in his hypothetical scenario. However, it's just as dishonest to assume Trump really advocates for this violence. This isn't a defense, but a simple fact, Trump has no filter; he was kidding.

He was kidding, but, like he surely know by now, jokes are a two way street...and some even a dead end, a president can't walk around throwing jokes that catches the Secret Service's attention.

I think the whole point that Trump should wake up and see is that his deliberate cute little innuendos are backfiring on him. In this case, he could just as easily said that the NRA people will be able to vote her down. Instead, he (and deliberately, I think) tries his best to say something that COULD have a double meaning.

I honestly believe that if he keeps this up, it is going to cost him the election.

Wouldn't that mean they could put grassroots pressure on their representatives to vote against strict infringements of the Second Amendment? I do that all the time. The NRA sure does it, too.

The only people (that I've noticed) who use guns to violently compel politicians are liberals. Trump already had one assassination attempt against him, and he's not even president. And remember Reagan and the would-be assassin there? What about Lee Harvey Oswald, the Castro-sympathizer? Wasn't John Wilkes Booth a Democrat?

Anyway, if that's all Trump said, I take it to mean something entirely different than you guys do. Who here really thinks he's advocating political assassination on national television?

Seriously though, He needs to have a filter. No one without a filter is going to make a safe president. He better develop one FAST, before his mouth elects Hillary.

I wrote the post you replied to. And, of course I know he is not advocating assassination. But he seems to think it is somehow cute to drop things out there like that that will raise the ire of the Democratic, Independent, and half of the Republican voters.
This is a bit foolish when he is already running pretty far behind in the raw number of voters it will take to beat Hillary.
