So I just moved into this college, gymnasium or what you call it in your country.
And I realize I have some major social difficulties. I started Tuesday.
Thursday a woman came in to me, like a teacher, and said that because I wasn't with or talking much with my house mates, she was afraid that I was isolating myself..
And I said that I'm just an introvert.
And I over think everything.
I should say, I'm very grateful that I can go here, with 9 other house mates, living here, taking 2 years.
And then further in the educational system. And then maybe get a job.
But I can't stop thinking, you know me, and I over think everything. That's how I grew up.
It's Friday, and they're all partying.
I chose, again to go into my room. (Did jam with a couple of people all the nights since Wednesday for like an hour)
I don't really have a hard time doing classes. So far.
But it's the social thing, I overheard someone on the hall saying she does a lot of cocaine, and now they're into the city to get some.
NOW, I shouldn't judge people, if I don't want to be judged by them.
AND I know there is probably people like me, who doesn't wanna party too here.
But it's too much of sex, alcohol and drugs here on the school. But because it's students it's just being young.
But I know it, my generation is all about that..
Where when I did it, it was because I wanted to escape. Not because I had a long day, but a long life.
Not justifying it in anyway, drugs is stupid, period. But saying many people take it to have fun, to go all night and create memories with friends.

Either I could just bite my tongue, and try to be social (even though I don't know who I can trust, and who does what.. Cause I'm afraid of coming back in my old habit)

REASON 1. To continue this school would be: getting an education. As the first one in my family tree. And I guess to work on my social skills.

Or I could stop on the school,
See now my mind is altering, mindset.
REASON 1.
I could be diciplined, and pursue my dream, to be a writer. Full time.
Could either live with my half brother, or I could move back to my mom.
Busk on the street.
Get a job. And focus the rest of the time to pursue my dream.
My mindset is altering, cause, life is so short, I could die tomorrow. Why would I want to have an education, when I could pursue my dreams? (Still work on social skills, cause I shouldn't be alone!)
Education, to MAYBE get a job when I'm older, and push it aside "that" Novell I wanted to write when I was young, 20 years of age.
What do you think I should do?
What's your thoughts? Just need an outside perspective.

You need to be educated so you CAN competently pursue your dreams. You need to learn how to write, where to insert proper punctuation, how to make and submit a resume.. Etc etc etc.. Your dream of being a successful writer may never come to fruition. If you're not educated, what other skills will you have to fall back on? You don't need to go out alot and do social stuff. But hiding away like a recluse in your room won't be good either. FYI, they're called dormitories here, not gymnasiums.. lol

Now ur in school, i dont tihnk quitting it is a nice idea at all. In my country, see we're an ever developing country... there are some good universities but not that many can get to that, could they? The fact u are studying, be thankful. So many want to be able to, but cannot. Now this is so easy to say, but to some extent i was like u, not fond of those party things that take up a lot of other ppl's lives. U dont have to. The occasional social things u may add to, like perhaps when u visit some orphanage or home for the aged, u might find a grandpa o grandma u never thot was there! Wish there was such here, but they are quite limited really, and extended families common, so many older ppl still live w/ 'family.'

I did have friends but didnt think i needed more, so i cultivated few deep friendships, but now where are they? Had to deal w/ a survival of the fittest atmosphere for how many yrs, and thot, was it worth it?? I almost do not know where others are, and osme have moved on of course. A childhood friend i still considered a real friend in my heart, mentioned her daughter's wedding, but didnt really invite-- and i was kind of bothered, but realized, yes, its her daughter's marriage, not hers, so its up to them to invite who-). Anyway, i wish u can find and build more friendships for Proverbs say Theres a friend that sticks closer than a brother.. so if u have more, that would be for ur own good. I know there are many friendly and helpful ppl here on cc, but real life friends are so different. As a cancer patient i talked w/ recently said, they can at least rub ur back or arm or leg while these hurt, altho distant friends that call or send honey from their farms is also good.

As blu said, u can study and pursue ur dreams more, also meet more ppl who would help u in pursuing that. Ah, lest i miss this, i had a classmate (just so busy now at work) who i wrote to sometimes. (I had pen friends and family friends i wrote to long ago) Sometimes she said if u write (a book, whatever), I'd be the first one to read. But i never wrote one, and we werent really that close, but she was such an encouragement. I hope u'd really write ur book or story or life, and bless others thru what God has done and is doing in ur life.

May I suggest that you should be spending more time looking for reasons to stay than you are looking for reasons to leave? Whichever you concentrate on more, will be the way you decide. (BTW, that's taken straight out of Scripture.)

follow your heart bro, schools not for everyone. overrated even. as for me i am thinking of throwing everything away and going out to the wild to find myself and what i am capable of . we are indoctrinated from the start to feel like society is the only way. well this kind of society will be my downfall

Really? You're STILL thinking out your escape for yet another thing? Choose this! Choose your education. Stop dreaming about I could, I could, I could, I could. All that has done, since you first joined here, is make you two years older and STILL undecided.

Choose this! Choose school! Stop pretending you could do whatever. (No, you really can't write yet, and no, that novel is not happening in the next year or five, simply because you keep thinking about it but have yet to put any effort in to make it happen. You got a whole life! It's okay. The novel can wait and you can do it the way 99.5% of authors do it -- after a day of work, an evening of family and chores, and when everything is finally quiet.)

Choose this! Choose school! Get an education. Expand your mind in real stuff instead of looping again and again. LISTEN! Get involved! You don't have to make 20,000 friends. Find ONE! Choose school. Choose a friend who will choose you. The rest of friends are optional. (I usually become friends with one person, who becomes friends with someone else who I like and viola! Two friends.)

You keep coming up with 20,000 things you could do as the one and only excuse to do nothing. THIS is your moment! THIS is what you're supposed to do. Soak in knowledge. Learn stuff. Figure out there's a great big world out there and it is your oyster. Sure, you've traveled, but you haven't bothered learning anything yet. CHOOSE THIS!

And let nothing -- NOTHING NOTHING -- stop you. Particularly YOU!!!

Choose THIS!
