But we live on the peak of the highest point in town. She already knew that. I'm just going to try to tell myself that the proliferation of blue jays that have recently moved in scared the youngsters off.

No, this is a serious one.

My little Mockingbird, Henri, and her two fledglings haven't been around for more than a week. Not a sign of them, anywhere. I'm starting to want to shoot me some cats.
My cat ate squirrels and rabbits. I had to stop him from attacking a foxhound once. (And the cat was only 10 pounds.) He cat-and-mouse mice occasionally. No insect was safe, (and he found them delicious too.) Brought home a sparrow once. (It lived. Chased it for 45 minutes around the house, but it lived.) But mockingbird? Never. Nor jays. They can hold their own. (And I loved watching them dive-bomb him. Served him right for eating baby rabbits. lol)

It's just a BB pistol that hardly even phases ducks, so cats have no fear. Henri would give cats a hard time but the babies were so immature...
My dad killed many squirrels with a BB gun. Thems good eats.

I'm sad today too. I got some film developed, pictures I took of Tequila a few days before she went "home", and I got the pix back today. NONE of the pictures of her came out at all. They're all ruined and I am soooo upset. I wanted some current photos of her and they are all ruined. :'( I screwed up goodbye, and I screwed up taking her pictures.. :(

Thank you Fenner. :) I've asked God to develop some of them for me, and I heard a voice in my head saying to put them in my bible and take them out next week. There's one picture I could see somewhat, and it would have been a gorgeous pic of her if it had fully developed.

Little One,
Yeah, the "goodbye" might have gone better. As you know, I failed there with Gordy. But, the pictures you really want to be remembering are the ones where Tequila was happy and healthy. And you have those.

You have a pet mockingbird?

We have so many around here that many people consider them varmints..... although they are our state bird...

I had one singing in the tree outside our bedroom window a couple of years back... at 3:30 in the morning. It was a long song...

I finally went out and flung a broomstick up into the tree, and he flew across the street and two doors down, and started his singing again.

I went back to bed.
The woman across the street and two-doors down collected her weekly dog offerings from the backyard, put them in a paper bag, brought it to your door, lit the bag, and rang the bell.

Living here in St. Pete, we have always had, literally, dozens of squirrels running all over our property every day for years and years. Almost all of us feed them, and we have the friendliest bunch of semi-pet squirrels you've ever seen.

I've had one that used to get on our screen door, and shift his weight back and forth to make it bang, till we came outside. I could put my hand out on a tree branch he was on, and he would walk out on my arm, right up to my shoulder, and sit there while I fed him.

I'm pretty sure I have told you guys about another one that would walk under my standing dog, and trade kisses with him. And most of them love for you to scratch their heads and ears. We all love squirrels in our neighborhood.

Bo, our cat, died six weeks before we bought our first computer. (It always felt like we replaced him with a computer.) No digital pictures back then, and lost most of my photos during the multitude of moves. I have one picture of Bo, and he was no more than two. (He was 14 when he died.)

Don't worry. The memorize last for decades. You still know what she looks like and won't forget.
