Re: "I Remember When __________" (fill in the blank with something from the past..)
I remember Mom's Smith-Corona, my super cool IBM Selectra (and thinking nothing of typing with that monster on my lap), my brother's Tandy 8088, my in-laws Atara, which had so much memory you could type a whole novel on it, my Brother's (company name, not relative) word processor -- never to need whiteout again (and, yeah, I still use whiteout but to write on dark surfaces) -- our HP 486 with Windows 3.11, that new thing called "the Cyber highway," (today is the Internet's 25th anniversary), when I could put the wash in the washer and then into the dryer before a page loaded but still thought that was cool, when 9800 baud turned into 26K, and then 56K, and then DSL, when "no one needed that kind of speed," when kb's turned into gigs, when Yahoo replaced AOL, when Google replaced Yahoo, when desktops became laptops, but laptops burned my lap, and not being able to tell the difference between DSL and FiOS.
Hey, I know it's 15 years later, but that's where I settled into my comfort zone. lol
