It's not mine, but close. I actually think my sights are a bit better, believe it or not.
It isn't key mod. I actually could've gone key mod with the same model, but decided against it. That rail simply felt great in the hands. I mean like butter.
Yes, that was my first impression... the guard looks very "sleek".... I like that. I'm like YIG... a minimalist.

The first round of parts for my bullpup project should arrive via UPS tomorrow. I'm pretty excited. I'm still short the receiver and a trigger group, but I'll pick those up after the 1st of the month. I decided to go with really plain, nearly stock parts for this build, and I'll modify things as necessary to tune the rifle up to my satisfaction. I'm watching YouTube videos and reading write-ups about doing a trigger job on a factory 10/22 trigger, and I think I can handle that no problem. Same with the smoothing and polishing of the inside of the receiver.
Also, look into radiusing the lower rear edge of the bolt... The idea is to have the bolt impact the hammer a little higher up, which changes the "leverage" needed to move the hammer back. This will usually allow standard velocity ammo to cycle the action reliably. That, and polishing the recoil spring rod..... but I'm not sure how you would to that, since the rod is staked to prevent the spring coming off. It might be cheaper to just buy a spring kit from Kidd... I think they come with a new rod.

I just heard about Blue Wonder, which, according to the gun dealer, would make wonders when it comes to re-bluing stuff. Any of yall heard of that stuff?
Awesome! I need a place with a workbench so I can have fun projects like these.
I had not heard of it, so it read some online reviews..... most people think it is just another cold blue, not any better or worse than any of the rest.

Oddly enough, I was looking over that exact same modification (radiusing the rear bolt face) just last evening. I am apprehensive to try it myself here at home because I lack the right tools to do it.
Magnum PI is one of the all time greatest television programs, by the way. Mom and dad made me watch episodes growing up. A few months ago I re-visited it.
That show has everything. Suspense, action, gun play, pretty girls, American-British friendships, cool locales, pretty girls. It's like the A-Team with a few extra IQ points.

Parts came in yesterday, so I spent a couple hours working over the bolt. It's not 100% perfect, but it's a VAST imporvement over the rough factory finish. I was brave and modified the rear of the bolt face to radius it and that turned out great, so then I spent time working the flat surfaces over with wet-or-dry sandpaper from 220 to 2000 grit, and then a few rounds of Simichrome.
It's not perfect, but it also didn't cost me the coin a KIDD bolt would. This ought to slide in the action like buttah, and it looks fancy-schmancy enough for me.

Haha. I've only seen two episodes of Magnum before, but I've seen several of his movies. But he was definitely looking his best in Magnum.

Selleck is awesome in Blue Bloods. I should use his Blue Bloods character as an avatar at some point. Though I would be tempted to choose a different character if I went with that show.
Blue Bloods has some cool, 2nd Amendment themed episodes and a bevvy of cool statements about The War on Terror and Black Lives Matter.

He's just GREAT in every western I've ever seen him in. He just fits that part, better than most. Sam Elliot is the same way.

Now that I'm getting towards the age where a man really starts coming to grips that he may be a father relatively soon, I'm starting to look in to things that I want posterity to read/watch.
My top "virtuous" actors are Robert Duvall, Denzel Washington, and Tom Selleck are so far my top three. By and large these men tend to be in movies/shows with good lessons and images for developing minds.
Denzel would be for later in life, admittedly.

Yeah, a tike might need some age on him or her to properly process Lonesome Dove with Robert Duvall. Training Day with Denzel is definitely a grown-up movie. As for Selleck, you can't go wrong with Quigley Down Under.
And "The Sacketts"... and "Crossfire Trail"...
As actors go, I also like Morgan Freeman.
Back to the "guns" part of this thread.... I got my LaserMax laser in the mail today, for the 10/22... the one that replaces the front barrel band. I think it will be fun to play with, with the possible future use as a HD firearm for my wife. Lots of things to think about on that score, though.
