Aldo's sister was here earlier, finishing up the sad task of getting rid of what was left of his stuff. They put out a carpet and a dresser free, and it was taken by somebody within 20 minutes. They also took 3 bags of food to give to one of the food shelves here. This last week, I have learned more about Aldo from just seeing all his stuff being brought out, than I ever learned from Aldo himself.
By seeing his belongings, I have learned this about him: He really liked to hunt. He had alot of hunting clothes, and knives, and some deer antlers that he had collected.
He liked all types of music, from gospel hymns to rap. He REALLY liked Michael Jackson's music, he had a ton of MJ's cd's..
He liked to collect all sorts of things, whether he needed/used them or not. He was a HUMONGOUS hoarder. Stuff stacked up literally from floor to ceiling.
He was somewhat of a slob, and never threw ANYTHING away, even if it was broken. The family brought down a ton of broken blue plastic totes and laundry baskets.
I also learned he lived a pretty lonely life. People rarely came to visit him, and his family had no idea he lived like this, in such squalid conditions.
I learned all this just from seeing his belongings. The saying is true, you CAN learn alot about a person by looking at their stuff.
