Hello Willie T
This subject may be of interest to many, but it has no bearing on the question posed. Here in Spain, Jesus is a common name for many, and it is tradition with nor regard to the translation of the name , as given by the Angel of the Lord.
Yes, many people may be named Jesus or Yeshua, but not by the Angel of the Lord, only our Savior was named this for the attributes the translation gives Him, "Salvation of God (of Yahweh.). This shows no relationsip with the Hebrew name aside from the traditions of men which came after.
Yoshua son of Nun, or, Yahoshua ben Nun, is an older version of the name Yeshua, and he also was a type of savior of the Children of Israel, but not the Ony Son of God.
Just as Joshua son of Nun led God's people into the promised land, so Yeshua the Only Begotten Son of God leads God people into the Israel of God, the promised land.
There are so many wonderful understandings and even revelations that come with recognizing our spiritual heritage from the Children of Israel who were disobedient in the wilderness, yet, by their disobedience salvation was gained by all nations for those who believe Jesus Christ........ Good thought. Start a thread if it moes you to dos oso.
How does this correlate with the fact that there were many men named "Jesus" before He was born, many men with that same name while He was living here, and many who came afterward with the same name?
