Things I’ve learned recently on CC:

Standing in direct opposition to God’s word is ok. (And by inference, calling God a liar is ok). Presenting a case to show that someone is standing in direct opposition to God’s word (and is therefore calling God a liar) is ok, as long as you don’t do it all in one thread. Asking if you should continue or give up your presentation of evidence that someone is standing in direct opposition to God’s word (and therefore calling God a liar) is a chargeable offense.

But truth be told, I’ve been more of a detractor than contributor here lately. I’ve just grown tired of the same old arguments being volleyed back and forth endlessly with no end game in sight. So rather than repeating an argument for the umpteenth time to someone who I know isn’t going to take the time to comprehend and understand what is being said to them anyway, I’ve been picking at tangential issues that, mea culpa, add little to nothing to the discussion at hand.

My apologies for that. But from this very tired exchange I’ve also learned:

That 98% of the people here are here to teach and have absolutely no interest in learning. Their beliefs have been set in stone and therefore they are no longer interested in growing.

That the same 98% cannot be bothered to actually read and comprehend what is being said by others, painting other people’s statements with the brush of their own beliefs.

This was sorely exampled by one guy (not who you think) who, having been shown infallible proof that he is in error (on a non-scriptural issue), responded with “don’t expect me to change, that’s just who I am”. I guess maybe that was the point at which I gave up and entered this downward spiral.

1 Cor. 1:10: I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.” Obviously that issue is still at play today, as we have followers of various doctrines, ministries and leaders battering followers of other doctrines, ministries and leaders. Instead of honoring Paul’s plea that we be of one mind. Sadly, this site has become a venue for the very thing Paul pleaded against.

The Bible also tells us repeatedly to stand up against false teachers. But evidently we are only allowed to do that covertly, an overt obedience to such a treatise once again being a chargeable offence.

So, I’m outta here. Kinda. It’s fruitless at this point to continue, but I am addicted. Maybe it’s time to spend a little time at the 12 steps website ;)

To the guy I was badgering … I mean, attempting to instruct, I truly hope and pray that someday your eyes are opened to the problem I was trying to clarify and illustrate to you. Because, honestly, if you don’t I do have doubt about whether I’ll see you in heaven. You’re the only one I’ve run across here who’s salvation I’ve questioned, because you are sooo far off the mark and inflexible. Strangely, in my effort to illustrate just that for you, God has been highlighting verses for me lately that support that very conclusion. I would say that is a ‘word’ to the wise, except we all know that knowledge, wisdom, and revelation have ceased. Yeah right.

Ephphatha!

And God Bless you all.

Ricky I agree with you 100% many here are more than willing to teach but have no interest in learning and there are indeed many arguments that just won't ever go away and sometimes it can become to much and can even make us bitter.
I have this to say to you though, as you know I have only recently realized the realm of which God has called to me and for a long time you saw it even though I didn't you believed in me and helped me to enter in the realm that I had disregarded for so long and had you not I likely would have never taken that step.

because you were here I grew and learned in a realm I was wary of and I have no doubt you have helped many others with your words as well. Our words go very far in the hearts and lives of others

Ricky, we haven't had any conversations, but the fact that your avatar says, Make America Great again, vote third party. Is enough for me to say, don't go, stay. I'm not being sarcastic, Besides me and my Husband and two friends, I get so much opposition when I tell people I usually vote third party. So please for the sake of third parties, stay.

??? Don't know what is going on but will lift you in prayer, brother....

Remember God told us not to throw pearls before swine for a good reason...they trample them and turn and rip you to shreds.

Thank you Blain. I too have learned much here but It's just devolved into something I can't abide right now. Maybe after a time away from it all I can refocus on the important stuff.

Hey Ricky

I always appreciated your unique view on things as well as your tactful approach on contentious issues in regarding other people’s feelings – hope u don’t stay away too long old stick as I truly u believe u add to this forum.

More often than not when I see your icon I’ll stop to check to see what’s goin’ on.

Becoming overly engrossed with one person as u have alluded to perhaps has strained u…maybe u just need to break from him lol….there are so many other of us to harass and harry u.

Ricky, Glad that you at least got a few chuckles out of me (red bird art).

But, you have me pegged in the 98% . I'm not here to learn - mostly learn through my personal studies with others in bible groups. I came here mostly with the intention of learning what other Christians think (and maybe learn something in the process). I have had good conversations with a few people during personal messaging. And have spiritually adopted Levi as my son. I love to have updates on his life and new marriage.

But I also didn't come here to teach. Just share some thoughts when they fit. I teach two groups of women a week - and that takes most of my focus. I thought it would be nice to hear some men's input since all I usually hear from are ladies.

I still enjoy reading the postings. Some I just can hardly believe. Others are so good and very informative.

When I went through last year's loss, many of people here (including you) blessed me with great words of love and comfort. I could finally see why I was here. I felt supported and prayed for.

I will miss you.

I understand Ricky there were seasons in which I had to take a break from cc either to deal with some problems I was having or to seek God by other means than online

I've been there. I used to be very active on here, but I've discovered the same thing. However, now I just pop in once in awhile, make a post and wander out again. :) I actually had a moderator jump into a thread and confront me without even knowing what was going on. I thought, "Look, folks. You're on a Christian chat forum and if you don't want to hear the truth, then don't post." I love to argue and debate and discuss and teach...but I refrain from here in most circumstances now.

I guess what I'm saying is to stay, just be aware that you're going to find sin glorifiers here, you're going to find prideful people here, you're going to find sinners and liars and pot stirrers here, but you're also going to find the lost, hungry, thirsty, seeking, healing, helping, hurting, and redeemed here...because we all need the truth spoken and someday we will stop ignoring Holy Spirit and the truth, the seed, will grow...so long as it was planted. :)

Thanks all. As I said I'm addicted so I don't imagine I'll be gone long (like Sirk). But I need some time to regroup. I had just gotten into a bad pattern here. Time to hit the reset button.

I wonder how many of the extremists yelling at people in the forums also are doing that irl...
There are quite a few that this is the closest thing to church they have because they have either left or been kicked out for their yelling......so cc for them is a captive audience. Even after being banned, they come back under a different name.

That's the thing, when you do give someone the benefit of the doubt and try to be helpful, you too often get sabotaged by either a religious fanatic who has to needle you with law, a new ager who belittles people with a critical spirit, or an immature troll who causes disturbance for any bit of attention. I wind up kicking myself for forgetting God's simple instruction: avoid trouble makers and contentious people. :p
