I like this thread. :) Love working out, have always been into running, cycling and cross fit and yoga. Yoga can be challenging lol It really helps a lot with good balance, and the strength you need for some poses can be hard.

I tried to do yoga once. It was kind of like a gorilla trying to do ballet.. :(

I just got an email from the powerlifting director saying I'm off the wait list and in the meet!

Its in october so I have just over a month to try and increase my max a little in the 3 lifts. I'm hoping for about 40 lbs in my total to get me to 1200...

Likewise. What's your favorite type of workout as well as your favorite place to hike? :)

I love working out with weights mostly. Love hiking falls and mountain trails. We've got a few state parks outside of Nashville that I love to hike. What about you?

I like this thread too - props to shineyourlight.

Crossfit seems to be on another level...one of the men i work with does it, and he says they've got him doing flips and all kinds of difficult things. I have never flipped in my life.

Did you know there is a such thing as deadlift shoes?

I usually do my deadlifts in bare feet. But at the meet you have to wear shoes or slippers. Lots of people use tennis shoes or wrestling shoes. Tennis shoes are kind of squishy and wrestling shoes were a little lumpy for me on the balls of my feet.

So I got a pair of Sabo deadlifting shoes. They're the next best thing to bare feet... imo

Yesterday was a waste. It was one of those days where you just don't have it and you half you-know-what your workout lol. Anyway, I just got back from today's workout. I had to drag myself away from bed, but I feel like I killed it.

- Dumbbell Bench Press 2x12
- Incline Barbell BP 4x8
- Warrior Fit Incline Dumbbell BP 2x12

I was going to do intensity bench press today but the doctor tricked me into a tetanus shot yesterday. She promised it wouldn't hurt and that I was just being a baby. She said it wouldn't effect my workouts at all.

My arm feels like someone hit it with a baseball bat. I think that's going to be my last tetanus shot. I was pretty skeptical to begin with. Tetanus shots always hurt.

My arm hurts a little from deadlifts yesterday too so its probably a blessing in disguise not working out today.

Deadlift shoes. Learned something new.

It's interesting the tools you start acquiring.

A guy in my first spinning class gave me his gel saddle cover (he saw my struggles and said he didn't need it anymore, bless him) and combined with padded bike shorts, it made spinning a little more bearable the next time.

I use a swim cap and goggles in the pool, yoga socks and mat for yoga, and I'm up to 2 different foam rollers now to massage away sore spots.

In a couple weeks you won't need that gel seat either.

You just get used to it being uncomfortable, and then it just isn't so uncomfortable anymore.

I have a bike trainer that I use in the basement in the winter time... It picks up the back wheel and puts resistance to it. Then I have a little computer that keeps track of distance and speed...

I video'd myself doing my heaviest working squats today. No, that isn't a weird thing.

I thought I was getting plenty of depth. I was thinking maybe I should not go so deep. Then I saw my squats were a little borderline. So I worked on getting a little more depth.

That little bounce at the bottom throws my balance off a little. If I don't bounce the squat is easier but depth is questionable. If I do bounce its harder but depth is good.

So I will have to incorporate that small bounce. I will do high bar squats next week to further emphasize the difficulty at the bottom.

Watching yourself doing squats...I'd hate to see what I look like spinning.
You do your lifting in a home gym? You seem to have your technique planned to a science

Let myself go over the last two months and am feeling the consequences. I was doing the best I have ever done with P90X. The Texas summers are brutal with heat and humidity. It's time I push away from the comfort zone and make the flesh pay. It's just not cooling down fast enough. Jones'n for a cold front.
