absolutely not!!! Dane, what do you think???? :D I dated this one guy online.... and it was HORRIBLE! He was crazy!

Why is that, do u think it is wrong?

well let me expound! This guy that i dated online right, and even though he was soooo hot, and i liked him sooooo much. he was crazy! He didnt even really speak english! So i would say hey... how are you, and he would reply NO ME SPEAKA EEE ENGLISH, i mean WHAT!

Well i really don't use to chat, but i'm trying to be open to meet new people and experiences, i think it all depends, not everybody is a pshyco.

Your right, not everyone is a psycho, i think its just this guy.

ok and now, why someone would be interesting in dating online?

I think it's just another avenue to meet people who you normally wouldn't meet in your own church/social circles.

Personally, I only had 1 really bad experience with online dating.
I was chatting with this one lady (or so I thought) for the longest time. After about 2 years, she asked if I would like to meet her. When I said yes, she suggested we meet at a fast food resturant in Olympia. The time she insisted on threw up a lot of red flags, but I went along with it anyway.
Of course i took the precaution of letting it be known where I was going and why.

When I got there, Some guy came up to me and demanded I give him my wallet. He thought twice when he saw i didn't have my wallet in my hand and then he left in a hurry.
So the moral is if you do date online, be VERY careful when you meet him or her in real life.

I know people who got married to their pen pal who they would write via letters, in other countries, in the 60's, before the internet became what it is, who they never met beforehand, and corresponded with for months. Online dating is no different, in some ways better, because you can talk and see video in real time.
You would miss the biological and chemical reactions you get with someone in the flesh, however.

That is true. Of course, whether it be online, pen pal, or what ever, there are always risks.
Even in real life.

BTW in real life; i am kinda shy and quiet when it comes to letting a lady know how i feel. I've always been that way. Never could get over that either

Personally I'm not against online dating but like everyone else said here, you have to be real cautious. Get the time to know the other party, start it off as casual friendship. Exchange pictures, or use webcam and voice so you know who you're talking to. Spend at least 6 month getting to know the other person before you even think of meeting that person in real life. Always look out for signs that him/her may not be real or is faking information. It's definitely tougher than dating in real life but you never know, you might always meet a great person thousand of miles away and thank God for it =)

this advice is really wise.

I don't have a good experience with online dating, better said getting to know someone online coz I wouldn't call it dating. There are lots of scammers in the cyber world and liars (even amongst those calling themselves christians) but I know one would argue that it's same in the real world, which is true, it's just a lot harder to hide things in the real world than online.

Still if one goes for it, I advice her/him to be very cautious, and do not get satisfied with pictures, demand seeing someone on webcam and talk on phone or mic. Also if you see red flags do not ignore them but pay attention to them and clarify them. Another good idea would be to talk to her/his family after some time. If you feel something isn't right about the person, it's probably isn't.

Well, happy online dating for those who are up for it! :)
