1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, 7-8 ESV
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
Those who don't wait, most of them feel guilty and full of regrets. Some end up marrying someone they really do not know and end up divorced because the sex was good and got in the way of knowing and seeing the real person.

There is nothing to feel guilty if you do it with love and total commitment which means being married. Waiting and having self control before marriage is a great way to see if someone has the character for marriage. God's will and wisdom is for sanctification and protection. He is not a killjoy. He even invented sex but do it His way so you will have no complications.
If one has not waited until marriage, that does not mean that one will sleep around or be a jerk once wedded. However, the same is true for those faithfuls who enter into marriage. One may enter a marriage, pure of sexual defilement, but that does not mean one will stay faithful through it all. This is why marriage is not the goal; rather, we are called to be faithful in marriage and out. Of course, as God pours into a couple, the better that couple is (regardless of faults).
