Bought a small steel spinning target from walmart for around $10. :) Haven't tried it yet but saw some videos of it on youtube. My guns will just make them swing a little instead of spin, but at least it will make that cool steel on steel sound.... :rolleyes: Beware the mighty .177 cal!! :rolleyes:

I'm done with upgrades to my 1911 clone. I'd love to show you a picture, but I can't upload and I'm too lazy to put it online and link it. You'll just have to trust me.

I tried to suggest to Emily that she should have looked at the Taurus 24/7 Pro in .45... you can find those for about $250 used, and they are GREAT guns. 10 rounds, great single action trigger....

After saying all that, I hit enter, and was given a message that I was blocked from CC.... I just logged back on, and don't seem to be blocked now.... strange stuff going on. I think it's a communist plot..
 
The hubby and his pup went out duck hunting the other day. Got 1 tealwing and found a caribou antler.
 
This is my colt commander ".45". It actually recoils and disassembles just like a real one. Someone who owns a 1911 that shoots .22LR says it kicks exactly like his. :)

It's all a conspiracy, everything.... *looks around suspiciously*

But actually I mostly bought the gun for my dad's sake. I'm really just holding it for him until he has a bit of money to throw around and pay me back. He had a 9mm Ruger P series, I think the P89 is what it's called. He doesn't like it, though. The Auto-decock makes him a bit too nervous. The HI-point does work great, though. It's no less ugly, but it has my respect. The next gun I buy is going to be either a conceal or a .44 Mag. But seeing how .44s are so expensive, and seeing how I'm still in pain from my last bullet -buying spree, that's not going to be for a good while.
 
What do yall have to say about Henry rifles? Just saw an advertisement for it. Anyone got one?

I have heard very positive things about them. I'd like to have one someday when I get around to building my Old West collection.

My first gun was a cheap piece of crap. When I returned it, I got a Henry .22 instead. Made in 'Murca! It's a good little gun, I've shot several squirrel and raccoons with it.

Sure thing! You won't regret it if you get a Henry. Plus, lever actions are so cool. Makes me feel like a cowgirl.

But looks aside, levers are quicker than bolts and more reliable than a lot of semi-autos.

I am with YIG.... I have a friend that has a Henry .22... and he loves it. I've read nothing but positive about the .22's....

I think I may have read about some issues with their centerfires, but I can't remember exactly what the issue was..

and, Emily... I've read LOTS of good reviews on the HiPoint.... good to pretty good accuracy, excellent reliability... the only negative I've read (other than the whole "ugly" thing, of course :rolleyes:) is that they are an absolute bear to take down for cleaning. Most owners talk about dunking the whole gun in a bucket of solvent and blowing it dry with compressed air....

I came very close to buying one of their carbines, but they only have a 10 round mag... if they correct that issue, I'll likely buy one.
 
I, also, love leverguns. The last one I had was a Marlin in .45-70. It was a great gun, but it was more than I needed. Casting bullets for it depleted my supply of lead alloy pretty quickly...

It was fun to shoot, though. I'm going to get an older, used Marlin 336 in 30-30 someday soon. I "need" another one. I've owned two or three of them over the years, but traded them off for one thing or another. It would be an excellent "urban" type firearm if a future tyrant outlaws evil black rifles.....which appears to be highly likely.

Yes,that was the one negative I did see. I still haven't gotten around to looking up how to do it, either, but apparently you need some tools to do it. Looking forward to that :/
