I read an interesting Tweet the other day. I can't remember the exact words, but it was something about doing something in life that makes you excited about getting up on a Monday morning, rather than spend a whole week doing something you hate whilst longing for Friday. It really made me think. I admit that I've typically been one of those guys who wails that old lament, "TELL ME WHY I don't like Mondays?"

Over the years I have realized I really have a passion for struggling communities and we have many here. So I am back in University (on a part time basis) equipping myself to get involved in an informed, effective hands-on way.

Do any of you have that "I have a passion for....." Or perhaps you are talented in something (like art) but its not your vocation? Your thoughts? Whats YOUR thing?

My thing is music, and you really, really, REALLY don't want to get me started talking about it. I can talk for days straight about music.

Singing. It's my passion, my vice, the way I relax; I wish I could make a career out of it, but I like art too, so makeup artistry will just have to suffice for now :)

I was tapping my feet as I read this. remember the tune but because I am an abysmally awful dancer, foot tapping is adequate. Lol.

Well that's awesome. Being able to sing is a great gift. Hope some people get to hear you. I'm just content to "make a joyful noise" with the emphasis on "noise." Makeup artistry is cool.

Depends on the definition. I can't play in real-time, but I can use a computer and a MIDI keyboard to make whole soundtracks. I make them for songs I want to sing at church. Our piano player already (constantly) has a full plate, so this saves hassle. And I can take a soundtrack wherever I go, where a piano player is not so portable.

I take spells where I'm on chat every day for a couple or three hours at a time and then I'll take a month or two when I don't log in at all. But when I'm in chat I sing, yes. Not because I'm in chat, just because I'm always singing or humming something.

I play bass guitar. I like to write my own songs with it. Theyre mostly just instrumental, though I have one song that I have written lyrics for. I havent recorded it yet though, because Im too shy : p

I enjoy being able to play music though, it makes me feel happy and good about myself. Eventually Id like to get some other instruments and download some recording software and make songs with various different sounds, all with bass guitar being the focus of course : p

Wanna collaborate? I can bring all the instruments you want. Flute, grand piano, old upright piano, drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, weird stuff, spacey stuff, smooth stuff, hard stuff, whatever.

My thing is Law and Politics and music, and music theory.
I can be a HUGE nerd when it comes to these things. I spend my free time looking up college courses on music theory LOL

Psychology. But I was sidetracked to engineering and then took different job in the corporate world. If life did not happen I could have been a psychologist. I also like travel, photography, reading, music, art, movies and some sports like swimming, table tennis, badminton etc.

Money, money, and more money :).. Doing my thing (or anything) without money is difficult, if not impossible. I like to help animals, but that takes $$$.. But I guess in the bigger picture, my real thing is to eventually leave this life for something far better.. Not too many things matter more than that.
