So we're sitting here watching sponge bob and he outa the blue says..."I'm scared for this election". I ask why and he says...I really don't want hillary to win. For the record I really don't discuss politics with my son but he is obviously a very smart kid but I digress.

I ask what he doesn't like about her. He say's that he just doesn't like her and that she doesn't seem like a very nice person. He can't quite articulate what he doesn't like about her and I of course didn't tell him any of the reasons I don't like her. He then goes on to tell me that his friends talk about it a lot in school. He is in the 4th grade. I ask him what his friends say and he says that they all like Trump and when the teacher hears them talking she says..."NO POLITICAL TALK"....Lol


So based on my sons classroom, 100% of them are Trump families and Trump will be our next president. My poll has a margin of error of +-2.64%

So your son is about 9 or 10 years old? And he is already thinking about a presidential election? When I was that old I think I knew there was someone who was our president, and that he was a great man who we could trust and respect. But that was a long... long... time ago. My how times have changed. Maybe we should give kids the right to vote if their instincts are that good.

Hillary resembles evil witches in nearly every fairy tale.

Before the feminists come after me, I would not say the same about almost any other female political figure out there today. Even some of the younger lady Dems come off as sweet. The lifetime of liberalism hasn't taken its toll on them as of yet.

He is reading Eric Metaxis book "Seven Men" to me at bedtime. We are in the Jackie Robinson chapter. I don't know why I bring that up other than I am glad he is reading it and taking an interest in it....great book. I'm afraid that my sons generation has some perilous times ahead of them. I hope he becomes a great leader and an even better follower of Jesus.

Isn't it sad when you look at somebody only 15-20 years younger and think "I wouldn't trade places."

There is something really, really wrong with that. I think envying youth is way more natural than pitying them or fearing for them.

It's good to hear that he will not face that future without being properly equipped. Good on you, my friend. I'm not at all surprised, though. :)

We love sponge bob. When he first got here this evening I was watching longmire and doing paperwork. I thought I'd let it play for a bit. It got to a part where there was this drugged out teenager that sheriff Longmire was questioning. It sort of showed some pg13 flashbacks and suddenly he gets up, says I'm gonna watch spongebob. Lol. I said...I'll put it on in here bud. So I turn it on my office tv and we sit there watching sponge bob. I decided that I should ask him about what he saw in Longmire and that I was watching him to see his reaction....he said it was too dark for him. I told him how proud I was of him for walking away from something he didn't think was good for him. It was after all that that he blurted out that he was scared Hillary was gonna get elected. Lol

Oh wow. That indicates A LOT of wherewithal. To see art and then realize the kind of world it's imitating/warning against.

When he gets a little older, I recommend Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck. It's a cop drama, but pretty family oriented. The "mature" content is handled pretty cleanly too.

All of this to say, when you get tired of Spongebob, that wouldn't be a bad place to turn hahahaha

You know, I understand your super Trump support now more than ever.

I think if I had a kid, I would be less contemplative and a whole lot more apt to act and say "damn the torpedoes."

By reading this site I estimate that around 99.9% of the voting population will vote for Trump, but then as a Child I believed in Santa the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny.

I actually dreamed the other night that I was cradling a really young baby and protecting him from bigfoot. Funny dream looking back.

When I woke, I was overwhelmed with this powerful, almost instinctual emotion to do ANYTHING to protect my (nonexistent) son.

Man, if just a dream can do that...

I believe that the number one contributor to our problems as a nation are passive dads. Dads that won't say no to the little nibble on the apple. Everything in our society gives excuses for fathers to not be fathers. The one thing that I have said from the beginning is that Trump loves his children and they love him. And in my limited experience, a fathers children are the true measure of a man.

Wait a minute.....Santa is not real? Darn it, and I spent all year being extra good so I wouldn't get coal in my stocking, just wait until tomorrow when I dont have to worry about being on the naughty or nice list haha

I can definitely go with that.

Maybe it's because I'm not there yet, but I do not understand at all the people who would just abdicate that role. Seems like a real privilege to be able to raise someone. Teach them your values. Take them to games. Etc.

Can you imagine how many people were destroyed by that post? So tragic that someone would reveal such a tightly held hope for some so callously.

It is such an important responsibility. To be responsible for the condition of childs soul when they go out on their own. Will we leave them weighed down with insecurity or will we armor them up with a healthy outlook on themselves and the world around them? Will we teach them where to go when they need to find hope in difficulty....because it will come. I am teaching my son to be ok without me...because someday he will be. But i'll still be there in his ear telling him that he is gonna be ok.

I know, what a tragedy...my whole life was set on being one of Santa's little helpers. That dream helped me get through my long, exhausting days, so I now suppose I have to stick with my day job :(
