I have noticed that over the years with all holidays. Thanksgiving is the only one I celebrate. Christmas, and easter have died off immensely too. It could have a lot tot do with the economy. I use to sell on e bay but sales have dropped off so much it has become hard to make any money. People are broke, and too scared to admit it. I even asked e bay years back about their sales and they told me they were increasing, but I don't believe that.
Yeah I noticed there was no hype for Christmas last year as well. Holidays are dying, well where I live it sucks.

Political correctness and survival suck the joy out of everything.

do you think the Father revealed Himself to the Jews/Christians and only them? who was on that unnamed shrine that Paul was talking about? in native american cultures a great teacher went to all the tribes with a message to turn from the path they were on and get back on the one to the creator. this man traveled with disciples, was not native american, did miracles, and healed people. wonder who He was? and who were the "other sheep" Jesus said He had to go to?

there is a big difference between lost, fallen away, and all out rebelling against the Father.
This is exactly what the Lord reminded my heart of this morning when I was meditating with him about this thread. How awesome when the Lord confirms his word to us, ya know? \:D/ Yay!! God is faithful!

The unknown god. (Acts 17) Paul used that as a basis to share the Lord Jesus with the Athenians, the epicurean and stoic philosophers, those who were into mysticism and worshipped numerous idols. And the Bible reads, "And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout Greeks and more than a few of the leading women."

Apparently "Halloween" is the name of a holiday that has pagan roots even though the practices are nothing like pagans use to do. I have a solution.

Today, I'm inviting everyone to celebrate a new holiday that I'm creating. Every October 31st, I will now be celebrating "Hallowean"... not to be mistaken with "Halloween". Apparently one has pagan roots and the other was created just today, by me.

Hallowean is a day where people fellowship with their friends and family, go door-to-door in hopes of delicious yums yums, all the while dressing up in costumes (these aren't pagan rituals no matter how much someone tries to twist this). Now we all have a holiday to celebrate that has no ties to paganism... Pagans can't claim an entire day either, so if you make the argument "But it's still celebrated on the 31st of October" then all a pagan has to due is just declare every day a holiday and then we run out of days to celebrate stuff...

Anyways, I invite you all to have fun and celebrate the 1st annual Hallowean!
this post reminded me of...

In Scotland, at new years eve, you are supposed to try to be the first person to set foot (literally) in your friends house,
and you are get a shot of whiskey from them.

I didn't know this when I moved. Imagine my surprise the first year when two people (neighbours) I'd only seen once in passing suddenly arrived at the door and took a step into my flat! Thankfully they were too drunk to realize I didn't have whiskey :p

hoy es el día.

and everybody died.

For Christ's love compels us,
because we are convinced that one died for all,
and therefore all died.

(2 Corinthians 5:14)

so.

It's a 'grey area only' because we mix good with evil and bring human reasoning into the teaching of God....He calls that 'pollution and perversion.
Apparently people have never read scripture telling us to 'put difference between holy and unholy.
Friend, we are not going to be judged according to our conscience , (that may work for the ignorant )but on the word of God ! which most on these forums are not ignorant of. They are simply rebellious wanting their own way .

Exactly, the enemy will always find a way to manipulate through the cracks of the flesh.

I would say that 1 Corinthians 8 encourages us to abstain; not because the pagan roots hold any power over us, but because weaker believers may stumble and fall if they see us partaking.

And before anyone gets in an uproar, if you read 1 Cor 8 you'll see that was Paul's word, not mine.

I totally agree, hornetguy! I celebrated Halloween as a kid and enjoyed dressing my own kids up and taking them trick or treating. It has always been a day full of innocent fun.

Heading to a night of Worship/prayer/intercession instead of the obvious things.

A much better use of th evening IMO.

My family and I don't have anything to do with it. Nothing but pagan roots focused on death. It's masked up to seem like an innocent day, but God has very specific instructions on what to do with pagan traditions, and darkness in general.

So true. Hope your evening of intercession went well, we switched a few chords in our songs today in rehearsal at church, other than that, sounds like you had a great time with the Lord.

The fact remains, we cannot serve two masters.

The Bible is clear we are either hot or cold. No in-betweens, if we are God will be spit us out.

i agree we can not serve 2 masters but that has nothing to do with my point, you seem to imply that only those of the Judeo/Christian faiths serve the Most High.
the bible is clear on this? ok go back to the bible, look up Noah, Enoch and Shem and tell me what religion they belonged to.

another interesting fact is the gods of the philistines made war on the Lord Most High, the philistines made war on the Lords chosen people. the Celts (where Halloween came from) never did that. your comparing apples and oranges.

My point I am trying to make is that we cannot be part of festivals like Halloween and try to give it a Christian spin on it, that is the reason I keep on saying "hot or cold".

We are all part of the same religion because in Christ there is no difference between Abraham, Moses, you and me. As long as we are in Christ we will be saved but He will be our judge :)

I can't understand why people are trying to defend Halloween (I am referring to people in general Jay)? If that is so important to you, eat the chocolates give sweets to the children and dress up like a demon. To me, I know it is not from God and as for me and my house, we will not do it. The Bible is clear we should stay away from feast days that is not from God.

You know, reading this thread has me thinking.

So, we are told halloween is bad because it has pagan roots. So, should we from now on avoid candy? Or what about anything that could be considered spooky? No more scary stories around the campfire.

I mean, all these things are tied to halloween, which has ties to paganism, therefore these things are all pagan.

Oh, and we better avoid dressing up for anything ever : p
No more Pumpkin eating and forget Apples because people dunk them Broomsticks are out as well and dont even think of owning a Black Cat or living in Salem

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

American TV is saturated with programs glorifying witchcraft, spell-casting and the Occult.

Halloween seems just an extension of that.

That last sentence, it refers to the church. Not individual believers. Someone here told me that the other day. I believe it was on my "what is doubt, really?" thread. :)

You will find many mixed opinions on this..I can already tell you that this will end in a huge argument.
Ive stopped celebrating Halloween for multiple reasons..Not just so much because its Pagan but also many other things. If you take it seriously you cannot celebrate Thanksgiving,Christmas,Easter,New Years,.. nothing
After sitting myself down I dont really feel comfortable celebrating Halloween but I still like the candy and theres no way u will get me away from that lol!!
Best is to pray about it for yourself. Many celebrate it, many dont. Its a lot of controversy.

Well you're a prophet or what. Funny thing is when I created this thread, I didn't think it would be as long as it would be and it was the most fun I've had since I came back. Now the day has passed and the hype is over
