Well you're a prophet or what. Funny thing is when I created this thread, I didn't think it would be as long as it would be and it was the most fun I've had since I came back. Now the day has passed and the hype is over
Maybe I am a prophet  Maybe I just saw many thereads like this and others escalate every single time lol.. or maybe both :D

That last sentence, it refers to the church. Not individual believers. Someone here told me that the other day. I believe it was on my "what is doubt, really?" thread. :)

I think a christian can interpret that however they can. I personally believe it's talking about the church as well but you can also apply it to individuals as well.

Yes my dear friend, but we are the church (individual believers). We are living in the days of Laodicea (which means peoples opinions).

If we understand the Hebrew pictures in the Bible this same example are being used in the OT. Remember friend, God does not change :) The Bible is also referring to mixing of seed, a tree with good and bad fruit etc.

My point I am trying to make is that we cannot be part of festivals like Halloween and try to give it a Christian spin on it, that is the reason I keep on saying "hot or cold".

We are all part of the same religion because in Christ there is no difference between Abraham, Moses, you and me. As long as we are in Christ we will be saved but He will be our judge :)

I can't understand why people are trying to defend Halloween (I am referring to people in general Jay)? If that is so important to you, eat the chocolates give sweets to the children and dress up like a demon. To me, I know it is not from God and as for me and my house, we will not do it. The Bible is clear we should stay away from feast days that is not from God.
Darn... And I was Gandalf the White for Halloween. I shouldn't have picked such an evil character who glorifies witchcraft! I'll go repent.

Learn not the way of the heathen, God spake in the book of Jeremiah (10).

If you just want to participate in the whole Halloween thing, then ask yourself this question. If your intent is not to celebrate death, but just to have some fun with others having a good time, then why don't you go and celebrate some gay day event in the streets as well? After all, you're not celebrating sodomy, you just want to have some fun.

As with everything in our Christian lives, we should always think "Is the thing I'm doing glorifying Christ or the devil?"

I find it incredibly ironic that you chose the name of a wizard that practices magic and witchcraft as your screen name, yet lecture others for handing out candy to trick or treaters.

Not at all saying there is something wrong with reading/watching the LOTR. Just have a little issue with judging others.

Well Penn, there are alot of halloween hypocrits on here. I'm just glad halloween is over for another year.. People don't realize that CHRISTIANS tried to swing that pagan holiday around to not being celebrated so evilly..

Here comes the flack for that statement in 3...2...1... :/

I would say that it is definitely ok for a Christian to feel uneasy about people celebrating Halloween. Getting to far into the celebration...

But for your kids or grandkids to dress up as mickey mouse and knock on peoples doors to get candy... I am not uneasy about that in the slightest. Its just a fun thing for kids to do.

Now when grown people do it... that starts to get weird. For me. But what does the bible say?

Romans 14:22-23
22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

so you cant be hot or cold (non Judeo / Christian? but abram and moses who were not Jews or Christian are ok because they are in Christ?? makes no sense to me but ok.

im defending halloween because if we go by your logic we have to become monks, anything and everything that does not have roots in the bible is off limits.

you got to grow up and be an adult before you can do our Lords work.

Matthew 18:3
And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

and after you grow up, build a time machine so this lady can go back and correct Jesus.
I Would like to share that Jesus cannot share your heart with sin! Contrary to what most of what Christendom believe is that we will never stop sinning, there is nowhere in the bible that states that. But there are plenty of verses that state that it is impossible to sin with Jesus in out heart. He gives us confession and repentance as well as complete victory over every sin in our lives. In fact we need to ask Him to reveal all our sins to us so we can ask forgiveness for them. Grace was given to us for obedience Romans 1:5. When we look to the cross, the greatest evidence of grace, while we are tempted that temptation vanishes. That is the power of grace. That is how grave gives us obedience.

Things were so quiet around Billy's house last night. He got so bored that he got up and joined Linus while he waited on the Great Pumpkin. We fell asleep so we'll just have to try harder next year.

Yeah I noticed there was no hype for Christmas last year as well. Holidays are dying, well where I live it sucks.
Why don't you celebrate Christmas? It's Jesus' birthday we celebrate. The commercialism has gotten out of hand, but you don't have to spend a lot of money to celebrate the true meaning. Celebrate low key and focus on the real reason for the season.

Jesus was born between spring and summer. Christmas in winter is pagan. Christmas trees, the date, etc is pagan
