We do appreciate your views on the subject, Demi. :) BUT it does get old and repetitve when you and others keep saying "I don't celebrate (holiday) because..." or "I don't do this or that because..."..
Well I started stating bible verses that back up what I say because many people do not know this. What ppl dont know, they cant decide on

But did you ever consider that maybe some of them DO know, and just have a different view on it? :) Posting verses is fine, but you DO need to let people make up their own conclusions.. And for those who DON'T know, well at least now they've been enlightened.. lol

God says it, not me. Stop blaming me. Dont shoot the messenger. We as christians have a duty to put the truth out. Its not on me that ppl accept it, but to hear it. If you dont wanna accept it its on you. But It cant be that I am getting the dirt for giving GODS WORD not mine.

Well if people know it they shouldnt mind me saying it. I am not forcing anyone. I cannot force anyone over a internet Forum to do something.

No one is blaming you. So stop being so upset. But when people are told (not by you) that they are going to hell for handing out candy, or they are called demon-possessed, then THAT is when people get upset. Surely you understand that. I understand God's word on it, I just simply don't see giving out or eating halloween candy as pagan. It isn't..

Like I said, it's not even about giving verses. It's about getting shamed and called names like evil and demon possessed, that upsets people..

My view on this ( hopefully this helps, haha) is that we have a responsibility to personally study and think about our practices in life that may be questionable. We need to be aware of any pertinent scriptures and information that pertains to our celebration of a holiday or anything else that is not clearly commanded in Scripture. We have to have a clear conscience and reasons for why we do what we do. If we feel clarity and liberty to celebrate or not celebrate ( after prayerfully considering the issue) then we can can proceed with a clear conscience. Another person's views won't or shouldn't rattle us if we have taken this approach. I don't mind if others share their knowledge about the pagan origins or verses they feel apply.

That being said, some people love controversy and will ever give any issues a rest. I am not just referring to holiday celebrations. I actually think people beat the dead holiday horse less frequently than they do pet doctrinal views ( just my analysis of recent trends in the BDF). I think Demi is okay in her approach. She didn't start any of her own threads and she has stayed out of the more vitriolic ones. I think the real problem are the controversial threads with inflammatory titles that have been started with no other purpose than to bash those celebrating specific holidays ( not this thread). You know just by reading a title whether the thread is inviting intelligent discussion or debate or is just another opportunity to attack a certain group. I think after awhile, members who celebrate holidays get tired of seeing these predictable and non- constructive threads.

Lol. Just treat the really sensational threads like Pandora's box. Do not give into temptation and click on the thread. Bad things happen.

Funny how I never expected a big 400 reply thread when I started this that with each passing day would make anyone on the fence abut Halloween even more confused unless they were 100% on their stance. Oh boy I can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas that'll be fun.

Did I miss something? Where did Demi do any of those things? I am actually flabbergasted at your response to her, Blue.

The whole time that I've witnessed, she's done nothing but explain why she abstains and posts some verses that helped her come to her conclusions. Then all of a sudden here came the rage and wrath, despite her clearly expecting others to come to their own conclusions.

So does a guilty conscience need no accuser, or will a hit dog holler? Whichever the case, your aggression is misplaced. Maybe those things you mentioned are upsetting, but Demi didn't do them.

Read the response again.. I DID NOT say Demi said those things. She didn't. But others have..

I know this is easier said than done, but religious spirits will always be around us...it is unfortunate that some[Not Demi777!!!] resort to such over the top childish behavior they condemn some on to hell or call them demonized....it is best to ignore such people....

Okay...

It just seemed like there was undue pushback against her point of view, particularly from you.
Many here, particularly on the holiday threads, have been called evil and demon-possessed. Wouldn't it upset YOU to be called that? It upsets me, since I'm one of the people who have been called those names. THANK GOD the holidays are almost all done with. Then we can let ridiculous threads like this one die..

...Eh *shrug*...guess we'll see when it happens. Closest anyone came to that was defriending me because I celebrate my own birthday, but that was so ridiculous that I could hardly take it seriously.

I think a thicker skin might be necessary, especially for you, since you don't pull any punches yourself. It surprises and somewhat confuses me, given your usual delivery, that you're so easily offended.

Wrong again. :) I'm not offended at all, not at Demi or anyone else. It just annoys me more than anything else because calling someone evil, or demon-possessed, is just exactly that.. evil.. And it runs rampant, particularly in this forum. Those people only make themselves sound ridiculous.

I must say, this forum is definitely the most hate-filled and contentious forum on the entire site. It's dripping with evil.

Well, there are times when you strongly give off that impression.

Strongly.

All this bickering is even more astonishing when you realize that the Word teaches God's children not to acknowledge one another according to the flesh, or by anything outwardly. We are spiritual beings.

Romans 14: Some whose faith is strong will eat meat, the weaker brother might only eat herbs. But neither is to despise the other or criticize the other. God is able to make us all stand in Him. Someone may regard one day as important, and some may regard some other day more important. Both are fine, so long as you give thanks to God in everything.

We are to love and respect each other, not humiliate and condemn one another. That's is the truth of God, not man's opinion.
