Ok wow I honestly thought differnt. I have so many text saved on my PC I gt them mixed up. That is good to know, Im glad they used renewed. I will assure you I didnt start using the ISR on a regular basis until this year, and I have known about renewed for around 7 years, studying Psalm 89 got me on the trail and this was a key piece of truth for me:

View attachment 161896

And the fact the new/renewed is used for the moon, and it is the same moon every month not a new moon, but Psalm 89 was the biggest proof overall.

thats not correct usage of the word its not about the points but the way the word was used.

    noun
    [COLOR=#878787 !important][/COLOR]

    • a name for God used frequently in the Hebrew Bible.

every name of God is a Noun that describes an aspect of Him, like i said brother one name is not enough to describe our God.

Colossians 2:16-23, "16Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths, 17which are a shadow of the coming things, and the body [is] of the Christ; 18let no one beguile you of your prize, delighting in humble-mindedness and [in] worship of the messengers, intruding into the things he hath not seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh, 19and not holding the head, from which all the body — through the joints and bands gathering supply, and being knit together — may increase with the increase of God.20If, then, ye did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances? 21— thou mayest not touch, nor taste, nor handle — 22which are all for destruction with the using, after the commands and teachings of men, 23which are, indeed, having a matter of wisdom in will-worship, and humble-mindedness, and neglecting of body — not in any honour, unto a satisfying of the flesh."

I think we have v16 down, I want to focus on 20-23, as to see context. Shaul (Paul) in nearly all his thoughts talks about a topic and then goes on to explain, he uses an advanced style of writing as his (worldly) education was beyond that of the other NT writers.

20If, then, ye did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances?

So he is saying if your dead to the world why would you subject yourself to its (the worlds) ordinances. To think he is saying if your dead to the world then why would you subject yourself to YHWH"s/Yahshua's Commandments would make no sense, but he explains it further.

21— thou mayest not touch, nor taste, nor handle

the pharisees had a law in which you could not eat meat and cheese togather, or even within 4 houhs of eachother. Now this is not in YHWH's Law even, YHWH's Law says dont boil a kid in its mothers milk (3 times) (the local pagans had this as a religious practice YHWH did not want His people to partake in these evil pagan practices) the pharisees using something called "midrashic interpretation" the pharisees looked at it and said well since it says this three times it must meant three different things. SO THEY MADE UP THEIR OWN LAW, that was completely disconnected from Scripture and enforced it as from YHWH.

22which are all for destruction with the using, after the commands and teachings of men,

So here very clearly he states "the commandments of men", now if you read from 16-20 you see he stays on topic, and 20 says basically if your dead to the world why do what the world tells you, so we can see he is still on this topic from v16. In this verse 22, he says "which are all for destruction", how does Sabbath lead to destruction and it would also have to be a "commandment of men" if there is ant commandment that is the farthest thing possible from being a "commandment of men" it is the Sabbath, it was from creation and it shows the AUTHORITY of the Creator, the mark of the Creator. Also tying a "commandment of men" to destruction Romans 8:13, "For if you live according to the commandments of men, you will die; but if, through the Spirit, you put to death; put an end to, the evildoing of mankind, you will live."

23which are, indeed, having a matter of wisdom in will-worship, and humble-mindedness, and neglecting of body — not in any honour, unto a satisfying of the flesh.

Pleasing of the pharisees by following the talmud. v22 for context = "after the commands and teachings of men"

you see the pharisees would have a problem if you did things according to YHWH's instruction and not their ORAL LAW, this is shown in MATT 15, 23, mark 7:7-9, etc

If you kept the Sabbath NOT according to the Talmud but according to the Scriptures the Pharisees would have a problem.

Matt 12:10 & 12, "And, behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. Then they asked
Him, saying; Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath Days?--so that they might accuse Him."
"And how much more valuable is a man than a sheep? Therefore, it is Lawful to do righteousness on the Sabbath."

The "Rabbis" also made their own holidays, Haunnaka and Rosh hashanna and more. when they left babylon they even changed the names of the moons (months), and rosh hashanna even changes the time of the new year, commandment and ordinances of men. The calendar YHWH created is YHWH's calendar, the one who created it created the heavens and the earth, thus is is calculated by the heavens, the moon in this case. Our current calendar is the gregorian calendar, which is an updated version of the bablonian calendar. YHWH said the days end and begin at sunset, not the "Rabbis."

Since the Pharisees/"Rabbis" made up their own, and/or times/ways to keep their own made up "feast days", if you did not submit the the Pharisees they would seek to have you brought to trial, beat, imprisoned, or even killed you for not honoring their non-Scriptual days. The Talmud tells a story of another "Rabbi" (Zacharyah, father of John) disagreeing and wanting to follow the Scriptures, and the head Pharisees told him, on threat of death, to appear in public on a Scriptual Feast Day in a way that the man can not honor YHWH as perscribed in the Scriptures, thus commanding him to disobey YHWH. They killed him for seeking to honor YHWH and not their man made religion. Yahshua spoke of this, but many have no clue of the history behind it;

Mat 23:35, "so that on you should come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Heḇel to the blood of Zeḵaryah, son of Bereḵyah, whom you murdered between the Dwelling Place and the altar."

2Chron 24:20-21, "Then the Spirit of Ylohim came upon Zeḵaryah son of Yehoyaḏa the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them, “Thus said Ylohim, ‘Why are you transgressing the commands of יהוה, and do not prosper? Because you have forsaken יהוה, He has forsaken you. And they conspired against him, and at the command of the sovereign they stoned him with stones in the courtyard of the House of יהוה."

Rosh Hashanah (New Year)
Rosh Hashanah occurs on the first and second days of Tishri (the 7th moon or month, YHWH's year starts in the 1st month). In Hebrew, Rosh Hashanah means, literally, "head of the year" or "first of the year." Rosh Hashanah is commonly known as the Jewish New Year.

How does the year start in the 7th month? According to the Scriptures and YHWH;s calendar the year starts in the 1st month, Abib.

Chanukkah
On the 25th of Kislev are the days of Chanukkah, which are eight... these were appointed a Festival with Hallel [prayers of praise] and thanksgiving. -Shabbat 21b, Babylonian Talmud

Tu B'Shevat
There are four new years... the first of Shevat is the new year for trees according to the ruling of Beit Shammai; Beit Hillel, however, places it on the fifteenth of that month. -Mishnah Rosh Hashanah 1:1

Purim
Is one of the most joyous and fun holidays on the Jewish calendar. It commemorates a time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination.

Tisha B'Av
Five misfortunes befell our fathers ... on the ninth of Av. ...On the ninth of Av it was decreed that our fathers should not enter the [Promised] Land, the Temple was destroyed the first and second time, Bethar was captured and the city [Jerusalem] was ploughed up. -Mishnah Ta'anit 4:6

Feasts that YHWH says should be kept for all generations are promoted in the NT:

1 Corinthians 5:7-8, "Therefore, purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new batch, since you are unleavened. For truly Yahshua our Passover was sacrificed for us. Therefore, let us keep the Feast, not with bold leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."

keep the Feast is word #1858. heortazo
heortazo: I keep a feast
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: heortazo
Phonetic Spelling: (heh-or-tad'-zo)
Short Definition: I keep a feast

Do you require the women in your household to camp outside of the house for 7 days when their cycle starts?

Why can we not have a adult discussion about if Thanksgiving has pagan origins or not?

Maybe it does, if so wold those who choose to celebrate it not like to know?

Maybe it does not, if not would those who don't celebrate it like to celebrate it? or feel ok about celebrating it if they already do?

and if it is pagan He would not want us doing it so.... Is this verse not important?

John 4:24 “The Most High is Spirit, and those who worship Him need to worship in spirit and truth.”

Because every time in all other threads when we have adult conversations, you have to bring the law into the conversation and begin Judiazing people...

The gravy is an essential. In essentials, unity.
The jelly stuff in a can is not essential. I think it was a failed army experiment, like the slinky or playDoh, which everyone likes, and they think because we accepted them, they can keep trying to to cram the failed cranberry jelly experiment down our throats.

True story, they used it in the filming of the original movie THE BLOB, with Steve McQueen

You know quoting from translations like ISR98 is kinda like being a Judaizers (is a term for Christians who insist that their co-religionists should follow the Law of Moses)

Yeah this guy is a Judiazer and worse...he claims gentiles like him must all become Jews to even follow Jesus...er Messiah...

Not true, see chart below.

Isayah 42:8, "I am YHWH, that is MY NAME; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images."

Micahyah (Micah) 4:5, "For all people walk each in the name of his god (430 - elohim), but we will walk in the Name of YHWH (3068 - Yhvh) our Father forever and ever."

Genesis 4:26, "And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. It was then that the Name of YHWH began to be invoked again."

Yeremyah 33:2, "This is what YHWH says Who made the earth, YHWH Who formed it to establish it--YHWH is His Name:"

In fact, you can’t have a sentence or a question without a verb! That’s how important these “action” parts of speech are.

The verb signals an action, an occurrence, or a state of being. Whether mental, physical, or mechanical, verbs always express activity.

Is that all?? !!!!!

Nope.. Here's another list:

Things that are pagan:

Ice cream-- made from the milk of the worshipped cow
Gold and silver-- can be used to make idolatrous statues
Pictures of Jesus-- utter blasphemy, may you be struck by lightning for it! lol
Music of any type-- cuz we all know that rock and roll and rap music can't possibly glorify God
Cats of any color-- they are in cahoots with witches, don't ya know.
Wearing rainbow colors-- you might be thought of as gay, even if you're not.

Bare feet-- heaven forbid someone might see your pedicured toenails. lol
Blue jeans-- they're evil if women wear them, but perfectly fine for guys. *snort*
Cologne or perfume-- might make you smell like a hooker. :/
Having a disease of any type: might get called demon-possessed and told that you need deliverance.
Eating apples-- the original forbidden fruit (oh the horror)

Having goose-down pillows: you might get accused of doing sacrificial rituals on the goose.. haha
Guys wearing make-up: fairly self-explanatory, if not then you're an idiot.. lol
Women wearing makeup: too much and you're accused of looking like a tramp

Talking in church: women lose their right to free speech.
Eating chocolate-- we all know the devil created it.. lol

Last but not least on the list:

Giving and receiving presents on Christmas and birthdays- YOU EVIL PAGAN HEATHENS!!

;)

Let's get one point straight. In the way that we worship the Lord, we are called to separate ourselves from the ways of pagan worship. Throwing things out like... Oh milk is pagan because people worship cows does nothing to further the discussion and is a straw man. In addition the ways that the pagan worship their gods, God is clear not to learn/practice those ways and not to do anything resembling them.

With that being said, let's move along with the discussion. I haven't found anything particularly wrong with Thanksgiving. We are technically supposed to give thanks to the Lord in all things every day.

First we need to look at the origins of Thanksgiving. Was the celebration in direct connection with worship of false gods such as the gods of the native americans, spirits, etc. If not then I don't see a problem in partaking. So instead of mocking things, we as born again believer are exhorted to seek what is pleasing to the Lord. Let's find out if there is any part of thanksgiving that is not pleasing and move from there.

I was actually being facetious, not serious, about the milk..and everything else on the list.. Anyhoo, I don't see anything unpleasing about Thanksgiving. You give thanks to God, enjoy a delicious meal and get to spend time with family. :)

It's only pagan if you make cornbread stuffing instead of traditional stuffing.

I think that jelly-like cranberry stuff that comes in a can is satanic though...

The jelly in the can is totally pagan, its the whole berries that aren't sinful.

1Tho shall take a plump bird and place it into a roasting pan, tho shall sprinkle fine seasoning on it as they mother and mothers did before.
2 tho shall place it in a preheated oven, and tho shall baste it repeatedly untill golden brown.
3 as the aroma arises let it be a pleasing aroma unto the household and all near.
4 when thy time has come , take the drippings of the plump bird you have prepared and with thy grandmothers recipe turn into a savory thicken juice worthy of potatoes.
5 have what traditions they forefathers have had with they bird.
6 give thanks to the Lord your God with all that are seated at thy table for thy bounty.
7 as sleep enters in after thy meal smile and relax on thy couch.

I think some of us were going with the spirit of the op, or thought we were. We didn't think he was being serious. I think a lot of us just don't worry about things like this because we know God sees our hearts in such a matter and we aren't doing anything sinful by gathering with family once a year in November to eat and visit and thank God for all His abundance toward us.

Come on, lets purge it all out of our systems now and be done with it....

Even the very question seems strange on its content, let be real is gather with family and those we are close to satanic? man oh man, this is a historic tradition and a good one......
