Just get yourself a nice astronomical refractor telescope and view the next full moon. You'll get a better view with a telescope, anyway. You can get a decent one for about $150-200. :)

That's on my list.Only I have to see if I get one in my part of the world.I have an uneasy feeling that it will not be $150-$200.:(

Seems like the sickness is going around! Hope all of you feel better very soon!

What do you guys usually do when you are feeling sick?
I just lie in bed moping for a while. Then I realise that the "Woe is me!" lament is useless when nobody is around to see this and feel sorry for me. So I will make a hot drink with lemon juice, take some medication and then get some rest.

Hope all you sick folk get well soon.:)

I've gotten a call several times from a company with a San Antonio, Texas area code. It's a different caller each time, but they always ask the same thing. "Is Edith there?" I keep telling them she is not. When I ask who is calling, they hang up. I tried calling the number back to see what company it is, but all I get is an erratic sounding busy signal. So I've decided that next time I'm going to respond, "Yes, this is Edith. What company is this?" Then whatever last name they have for Edith, I will say, "Oh, you've got the wrong person. I'm Edith Bunker." ;)

Well at least I wasn't alone. I had sinus junk all night last night. The sleep I did get, I must have been snoring like a whole herd of lumberjacks with chainsaws, because every time I woke up my throat was sore.

In other news, have you ever fixed a computer by accident? My aunt Diane brought a laptop over, said Windoze wouldn't boot for nothing. I booted from a Linux flash drive I keep on hand to check the hard drive. Hard drive looked okay so I rebooted to Windoze to see what the symptoms were... and it booted right up.

"How did you do that?"

"Beats me."
You probably fixed the bootloader as Win 8.1 and 10 both use UEFI that's compatible with Linux distros lol......so you could technically put a linux OS as an option in the windows 8.1/10 OS choosing menu....but somehow your USB probably fixed the UEFI bootloader....

Good job LYNX!

Lots of water, force myself to move/heavy excercise to raise body core temp to help fight the infection faster (it shortens the duration of sickness for stuff especially the flu). Drink a lot of home made herbal teas especially with hot pepper's like paprika, black pepper, black tea leaves, cardamom, cloves, and star anise....all brewed together in hot water let it sit for 10 min to infuse and then drink it down.....yes it may not taste like ovaltine but it gets the job done ;) .....I rarely get sick (thank God) due to God keeping me in good health, drinking this tea above as a preventative measure in case i feel bad, and eating a lot of spicy food (spices have great anti-bacterial properties like paprika and red cayenne pepper are great anti-bacterial spices to use in food....

Anyone else upset with the Beauty and the Beast trailer? I just don't like the beast. He is too much CGI and doesn't look scary enough. Belle's dress is plain too. Where are her gloves? :(

I cry.

Then, I drink lots of water. I had pneumonia as a child, twice. I get bronchitis very easily (and we all know ain't nobody got time for that) as a result so I have a routine I follow to prevent it when I start to feel chest congestion. Sterioid inhaler, mucinex, LOTS of water, Sudafed, LOTS of water, airborne. Yeah, once I got a cough and 3 days later I had bronchitis and pre-pneumonia. It took a month and two rounds of antibiotics and steroids and etc etc to get rid of it. I had to drop classes in college. I was miserable.

I don't mess around with coughs. Homey don't play that. If I am diligent I don't get sick like that. It's been 15 + years since I've been that sick.

Fever that results in brain damage is a fear that many parents have, but this concern is not warranted. The body won't let a fever get too high from an infection unless there has been damage to the temperature regulator or "thermostat" of the brain, the hypothalamus.

Thank you :) Due to my age and the incompetence of several doctors who failed to properly diagnose me, I may suffer the after-effects of shingles related nerve pain and damage for a year or more :p

Postherpetic neuralgia is one of the more serious after effects of shingles. This condition causes the nerves that have been damaged by the virus to continue to send pain signals to the person’s brain even after the rash and blisters caused by shingles have gone away. The damaged nerve fibers will also cause the person’s skin to be extremely sensitive to light, touch and temperature.

That is not me, but close to what I look like right now :p:(

:( *hugs magenta* (very very gently)
Thank you {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} My daughter diagnosed me on the phone about a month ago but it took four different doctors before one finally pronounced the proper diagnosis on Monday. Monday night was bad. The worst seems to be over :) I actually saw five doctors and the second last one (a week ago Monday) said my numbness (the start of nerve damage) was from me scratching (one of those ridiculously stupid things doctors say. The first shingle was visible then, too.)

Hot drink with lemon juice is seriously the only way to go.

You, my friend, are a smart man.
