All what things? What false Christ(s) were there between 30 AD and 70 AD? Name those who came after Christ but before the destruction of the Temple who came claiming to be Christ.

According to Josephus, the noted Jewish historian, twelve years after our Saviour's death, a certain impostor named Theudas persuaded a great multitude to follow him to the river Jordan which he claimed would divide for their passage. At the time of Felix (who is mentioned in the book of Acts), the country of the Jews was filled with impostors who Felix had put to death EVERY DAY—a statement which indicates that there were "many" of such in those days!
An Egyptian who "pretended to be a prophet" gathered 30,000 men, claiming that he would show "how, at his command, the walls of Jerusalem would fall down."
Another deceiver was Simon, a sorcerer, who led people to believe he was the great power of God (See Acts 8). According to Irenaeus, Simon claimed to be the Son of God and creator of angels. Jerome says that he claimed to be the Word of God, the Almighty. Justin relates that he went to Rome and was acclaimed as a god by his magical powers.
Origen mentions a certain wonder-worker, Dositheus, who claimed he was the Christ foretold by Moses. Another deceiver in those days was Barchochebas who, according to Jerome, claimed to vomit flames. Bar-jesus is mentioned in Acts 13:6 as a sorcerer and false prophet. These are examples of the deceivers of whom history says there were "a great number," and of whom Jesus had prophesied that there would be "many."

Were those who endured to the end of the sacking of Jerusalem in 70 AD saved?
It depends what "the End" in view is.

The 'End' in view here is the end of the Old Covenant.....i.e. AD67-73

Zone,

In the past 1-2 years or so, I've come to know several prominent Christians from the persecuted church. One of them is the Bishop of Pakistan. He is not Catholic, its a title bestowed upon him by the government as the top Christian leader in their country. His mission is to witness to the Muslim community all around him. He survived 7 assassination attempts. Anyway, he was a house guest of mine for 5 days last year and he told me that demon possession among Muslims is a huge problem. He is routinely brought Muslims and asked to cast them out. Islam is the ultimate Satanic religion.

I also met an Indian missionary and his wife recently. They also minister to Muslims in India. He told me pretty much the same thing. I asked him what he thought Mystery Babylon was or is. Without hesitation, he told me, "Islam, without a doubt."

I've been to Israel twice, to Lebanon, to Egypt, to Syria, to Bahrain, to United Arab Eremites, to Qatar, and to India. I have heard the call to worship. I have watched them worship and chant. I never read the Qur'an but I have read a 65 page summary. Islam is the alter ego religion to Christianity. Islam is so cleverly constructed to mirror our faith that it's deceptive powers can only be devised by Satan himself.

I know you disagree with me and that is fine, but I am 100% convinced that ISLAM is Mystery Babylon and its followers (Muslims) are literally and spiritually followers of Satan. They have a horrible destiny reserved for them. I didn't come to this conclusion easily but I truly believe the below will be the fate of every Muslim who does not come to Christ.

[SUP]9 [/SUP]Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, [SUP]10 [/SUP]he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. [SUP]11 [/SUP]And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

why do they have to be named in scripture?
why cant you just believe that it happened?
history shows there were false messiahs during the siege.

In the First Century.

From Josephus it appears that in the first century before the destruction of the Temple a number of Messiahs arose promising relief from the Roman yoke, and finding ready followers. Josephus speaks of them thus: "Another body of wicked men also sprung up, cleaner in their hands, but more wicked in their intentions, who destroyedthe peace of the city no less than did these murderers [the Sicarii]. For they were deceivers and deluders of the people, and, under pretense of divine illumination, were for innovations and changes, and prevailed on the multitude to act like madmen, and went before them in the wilderness, pretending that God would there show them signs of liberty" (Josephus, "B. J." ii. 13, §; 4; idem, "Ant." xx. 8, §; 6)....

...tons more...

...Another, an Egyptian, is said to have gathered together 30,000 adherents, whom he summoned to the Mount of Olives, opposite Jerusalem, promising that at his command the walls of Jerusalem would fall down, and that he and his followers would enter and possess themselves of the city....

...With the destruction of the Temple the appearance of Messiahs ceased for a time. Sixty years later a politico-Messianic movement of large proportions took place with Bar Kokba at its head.....

and more and more.....LOOK - you won't find a more comprehensive list of false messiahs than this site (jewish):

So, Christ returned in 70 AD? Did He defeat all His enemies, the last of which is death? No more death, no more tears? Are we in the eternal state now? Doesn't feel like it to me.

those last two are what I am zeroing in on.
I can only (just me) do it by process of elimination of what we can show has already been fulfilled, using the verb tenses etc.

I'm recovering from a lengthy illness and am weak all day.
I'm trying to get to all that, but I have to read scripture in full, and research other sources.
dunno about anybody else.

The New Covenant. The 'Church Age'. The Time Of The Gentiles. The Age of Jonah

Yes! Of course Jesus returns!

When is the resurrection? I don't know

Okay Zeek and Zone,

For sake of discussion, let's say I agree with you for a moment. Mat 24 is fulfilled and all OT prophesy is complete. Tell me what's next? What's the end game? Is there any prophesy remaining that is not yet fulfilled? If so, which?

No. That is the Preterist Fallacy.
[FONT=&quot]Hebrews 1:

It is the Father who judged Jerusalem. [/FONT]

Jesus said:
“Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come
in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”
Matthew 24:4-5, KJV

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and
shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were
possible, they shall deceive the very elect."
Matt 24:24

I'm reading Josephus now but still in the Antiquities. I will accept your list (and Zeek's) of false prophets for now.

On an unrelated note, have either of you read "The Book of Jasher?" Fascinating read. You can get a free .pdf on-line.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 Jn 5:13 ESV)

speaking of verb tenses... 'have' is present indicative active.

two kinds of people on the earth, the living in Christ and the dead.
we walk by faith, not by sight.

that's exactly what this thread is for.
we're trying to work it out.
for me, it can only be done if I'm willing to examine everything honestly and either discard or put on hold what doesn't match.
you are helping:)
