My cousin has a daughter who's into Anime, Walking Dead, and Vampires. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to possibly get her that doesn't involve The Walking Dead or Vampires?

A bible would be a good idea.

If she likes reading, you can get her a Christian fiction novel. She seems to like the supernatural.

Sounds like my Husbands Niece. Last year she got a Dr Who t shirt because she likes him too. Maybe a gift card to a book store?

I suggested cards to my mom, but she really doesn't want to do this. Sigh, it would make life so much easier.

We have to be careful with anything Christian related, as my if my Uncle suspected it was Christian, and possibly even my cousin, they more then likely would not get it.
Well then, scratch that idea? That makes it tricky. Jane Austen? Pride and Prejudice! It is a lovely book, a love story really, but very clean and highly principled, wonderfully written, and well loved :D There are no vampires but those of the social climbing sort... I am thinking it might be a good idea if you were to introduce her to something she will love that will gently draw her attention away from such darkness as you have described her tastes running to... Jean Auel's Clan of The Cave Bear was a wonderful read, the first of a six book series but the third book is quite wretched with far too much gratuitous relations between male and female so maybe that would not work as a series... have you mentioned her age? Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles was a fabulous book. I remember not much of the story except it crawled at a snail's pace and was a joy to read for the sheer strength of the writer's artistry. What about something historical? The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn by Robin Maxwell is a small book that sets the stage nicely for the sequel, The Queen's Bastard. That child eventually became queen Elizabeth I. Very well written books. I have not read Philippa Gregory's The White Queen series, but it was made into a very engaging highly entertaining ten part historical drama. Amazing! Here is what is said in promotion of the first book:

Elizabeth Woodville, of the House of Lancaster, is widowed when her husband is killed in battle. Aided and abetted by the raw ambition and witchcraft skills of her mother Jacquetta, Elizabeth seduces and marries, in secret, reigning king Edward IV, of the family of the white rose, the House of York. As long as there are other claimants to Edward’s throne, the profound rivalries between the two families will never be laid to rest. Violent conflict, shocking betrayal and murder dominate Elizabeth’s life as Queen of England, passionate wife of Edward and devoted mother of their children. In The White Queen Philippa Gregory brilliantly evokes the life of a common woman who ascends to royalty by virtue of her beauty, a woman who rises to the demands of her position and fights tenaciously for the survival of her family, a woman whose two sons become the central figures in a mystery that has confounded historians for centuries: the Princes in the Tower, whose fate remains unknown to this day.

Its most likely a phase. I had that phase (vampires and stuff). Itll eventually stop. You can try to give her christian stuff but its most likely not gonna do a lot. How old is she?

Not sure, as she didn't say, unless it's the vampire stuff, or Walking Dead. But since she does like to draw, the drawing book should be good for her. I think she's about 13.

Would she enjoy an of Studio Ghibli's movies? I mean, most are appropriate for all ages and are very well done. But since she's into anime, she's probably already seen them.

Who knows. But will definitely keep that in mind for future gifts.

By the way, you were one of the people I hoped would comment, since I know you are a big Anime fan.

No worries, sis. Thanks. Have a blessed weekend. :)

My daughter can speak, read, and understand Japanese as a result of her love of manga and anime. She studied it on her own for years, and then went to college for a year to study it, where she got 98.6% as her final mark. We watched a lot of anime together over a few years. For her it all started with Sailor Moon :)
