Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has has suffered from long term depression and got over it. And how you did it, thanks.
Hi.
There are some people here who will be able to give much better advice than me about this,
but my two cents are: Don't try to fight it alone. If haven't already, make sure you seek professional help (and also, let someone you trust know about if, but keep in mind that while they can give support, they are not professional counsellors)
I've never sought help of that kind, but I have had friends to talk to who have been going through similar things, and it helped talking to them about it.
...and, though this could just be my imagination, but I think it gets worse with a high sugar intake, and better with a (reasonably) healthy diet. Also, making sure to get enough daylight helps a lot!
When I was a young adult, i suffered from depression. On one occasion I got counseling from a psychiatrist. On another I was sent to be counseled by a Catholic nun. On a third I just had a talk with an Episcopal minister.Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has has suffered from long term depression and got over it. And how you did it, thanks.

Many Christians are living under a great depression. If they were to tell you their stories, it will all end the same way...life has not been fair. Just so you know that you're not alone. The bible is full of men and women who became discourage.
Job said, "Better is the day of my death then the day of my birth." Jonah ask God to kill him because he was so depressed and discourage. Moses windup wondering in a wilderness tending sheep for forty years when he was raised to be a Pharaoh. Even the Great Apostle Paul says, "I was down to the point of death." So even the great names in the bible had a battle with depression. If you read the Psalms you'll see David say over and over and over again, "Oh my soul - why are you so disturbed within me.
And if you have not experience depression keep on living. Life has a way of showing up and showing out. It is doing this time Christians must draw near with full confidence to Lord Jesus Christ. The scripture also says to encourage one another and build each other up.

...If God is for me, who can be against me? Romans 8:31 NKJVBasically, your saying being a Christian is more depressing than "normal" living. Because we care more. Maybe. And it's basically going to continue. Maybe.

Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
This is concerning Jesus,so a saint can experience sorrows and grief, but it is not the same as the world, for the saints sorrows and griefs are different than the world, for it is about caring for the welfare of people, and weeping for them, and their own salvation, and not in a selfish way, like woe is me for I could not score that weed tonight, and my life sucks for I did not hit the lottery, and my girlfriend who I am not married to left me,and the saints have the comfort of the Spirit.
But of course a saint cannot have sorrow and grief like the man Christ Jesus unless they are led of the Spirit, but weeping endures for the night, but joy comes in the morning, which we have times of sorrow for the welfare of people, and for our own self spiritually, but God will always lift us up,and we will experience joy,and never get down in the dumps liken the world, but a saint led of the Spirit experiences joy no matter what happens in their life, for Jesus said I give you joy that no person takes away, and the joy of the LORD is our strength, for it gives us moving on despite any problems.
I have joy living in Christ. But I have depression because I have little else. No home of my own, no secure job, never had a gf, wife or kids. Have no friends. Have little to do but some bits n pieces. I'm not suicidal, anymore. But that's Christ, not me. If I'm always alone except Christ, always broke, always living at home what is there but Christ? Is that the way it stays unless God does something? Don't have a clue and have given up on trying for anything other than Christ, because I'll fail my way, as always.

Depression has many causes; often it is just a chemical or hormonal imbalance in our bodies. That can be medically determined and corrected. Many Christians are living under a great depression. ================================================Yeah, sugar is a beast of mine. And I don't go out much because I have no friends. What depresses me mostly, is the purposelessness of nearly everything. Why do I bother to work living at home still, is there anything I can do other than give all my money away to the needy and go to church Sunday night. Why do I get out of bed when there's seemingly no1 and nothing to see, do etc.
