Alan Rickman had a really attractive voice!
Also Chris Hogan's voice is nice too.
I do find voices attractive. (Or off-putting, depending.) Not only the tone of the voice or the accent, but also the words used, the speed, deliberation... if I'm attracted to someone, their voice and way of speaking usually play a significant role in that.

Molly, I'm with you on Alan Rickman!

*adds Alan Rickman vote* *plans to look up Chris Hogan*

Grace, that's a really good point on the way someone speaks. thanks so much!

in high school, a classmate of mine had the deepest voice i've ever heard. it was difficult hearing him cuz it was that low! one time, he was standing behind me calling my name, and it wasn't until he tapped me on the shoulder that i noticed! lol

one time, the teacher had us take turns reading out loud from the textbook. when it was his turn, everybody was like daaaang. "he sounds like he needs to be on late night radio with romantic music playing." lol!

we started attending a home church with about a dozen other couples/families years ago.
one guy with a voice like that began reading the Bible after the worship in music and Mark widened his eyes, looked at me and said, "God??"

but nope, it was Joey. lol

My ex husband once told me he hated my voice, I never forgot it and I think about it every time I'm called on to speak to people formally or even pray publicly - I can't. Words can have far-reaching implications. My ex probably doesn't even remember saying it.
:(

i'm sorry. people are terrible, aren't we? my guess is he said it for some other reason than the actual sound of your voice.

I guess I don't really notice guys voices, but there are definitely some female voices and accents that I can't stand lol. Having said that, whoever voiced Princess Jasmine has the greatest voice of all time. :p
it's mellifluous. like Jill Hennessy, if you know who she is.

(i may just be showing my age. again. hhhhh)

Don't beat yourself up about it, I totally get the original sentiment, I am also attracted to particular voices and I'm quite particular about singing voices. God bless you : NMO. :)

My last girlfriend and I were so much on the same page.
It was almost like I could read her thoughts.
In fact, she seldom needed to speak at all.

It was bliss.

: )

I have no idea why they put a frog animation on the song, but ignore that.

I know I don't like the sound of my own voice. You know you think you sound one way then you hear yourself and it's like, yikes! Is that me? I like Jon Hamm's voice and Mike Rowe's voice. I also like the sound of my Husbands voice, it's smooth.

I would like to vote for Alan Rickman. Low voice coupled with a British accent- it doesn't get much better than that! I love British accents, Irish, and Australian. There is a country music singer named Josh Turner whose voice is delicious. Here's a gospel song he sang:

But yes, I just told someone else today that I could listen to a Scot read the phone book. I think Sean Connery's attractiveness can largely be attributed to his voice.

The only women's voices that annoy me are affected ones, I guess I mean the valley girl types? I have heard some women's voices that are beautiful in my opinion, but they are usually contralto voices- not high ones. High ones are not off putting to me if they are not affected.

All I know is I love the George Younce album in my music collection.
You
dont get better than Mr Younce, I have been able to see him several times in person. You can feel the rattle in your chest when he hits his notes.lol If you enjoy his voice check out Tim Reily from the Gold City Quartet. I was honored to open for that group several times. Wonderful person too.

Probably not the best sound on this one but it will give you an idea of who he is.

I am southern, so the southern accent is just everyday. I suppose it is always the attraction of the "other". I am sure there are Scottish women who are just "whatever" about Sean Connery's voice because it's not unusual in their world.

My hubby is southern. :) Im biased. It is funny though that we don't notice our accent very much. When I moved south from Canada people kept telling me I sounded so intelligent. I thought it was funny. Now that Ive been gone so long I realize how strong my accent was when I hear my family speak.

The town I am from has a particular dialect, so my accent is a little more pronounced than the accents of people in the city I am near. Someone once told me I didn't sound like I came from my town, which was meant to be a compliment- but I took it as a backhanded one!

My old associate pastor was from Pennsylvania, and he married a woman from Alabama (where I live). He said that when he went back to Pennsylvania, his family always laughed at him for talking like a southerner. I guess saying "ya'll".

I used to have a nice speaking voice... or so I was told. Now I sound like a tired old man.. :( And I don't like how some young people talk really fast these days. They talk as fast as I skim through everyone's posts! :p

ahem. :)

i wondered how many people find a certain type of voice attractive.
sometimes i hear a man talk and wish i could have an mp3 of him reading the phone book or something.
NOT that i'm not perfectly content with my husband. (cuz he has a great sounding voice. ;))

is it just a thing with women? (or just me? lol) do men feel this, too?
do you think it has anything to do with the way your parents' voices sound?

do you appreciate the sound of a voice of someone of your sex?

i have to admit, if a grown woman is making her voice sound high pitched, i find it grating.

opinions? and thanks!
wow mom I rarely ever see you make a thread♥ for girls I like the tender kind of soft voice for a guy it doesn't really matter as long as it's not high pitched and hurting my ears. now accents are another story I cannot stand the British accent, a slight British accent or even a half of one is fine but the full on one is hard for me to hear I can't understand what they are saying most of the time and it sounds like they have a mouth full of food lol

I do however like a decent country accent not a full on southern one but sort of like a texas one maybe because I grew up around it

I get the same thing from my family back home. After 15 yrs you start to sound more like the people you hear everyday and you dont even notice it. My husband is from the city so his accent is not really strong, but he can fake a country accent. It cracks me up. Im so use to jokes about the Canadian accent,do you live in igloos have moose as pets, that Im long past being offended. I always get the "do you know how they spell Canada?"joke.

My cousins moved from Mississippi to Washington state when they were kids and lost their southern accents. When I saw my cousin a couple of years ago, he said he wished he had not lost his southern accent. So it works the same way for transplanted southerners.

I don't know the Canada joke- but I'm kind of dumb when it comes to most things, lol.
