That's true.
The problem is, no one represents the middle class anymore. The democrats take your money to support the poor and lazy, the republicans take your money to support the rich. Trump says "let's make America great again". By appointing the very people who brought us the economic meltdown of 2008, one has to ask "make America great for WHO"?
I think many of the "middle class" need to accept some of the blame for the meltdown.
They bought overpriced houses and cars they could not afford on credit, hoping they could pay for it with hoped for pay raises.
They also filled up their credit cards with vacations and the latest electronic toys.
The unions also need to accept some of the blame for demanding pay and benefits that were not reasonable for the skill or productivity that the employees had.
The unions forced many companies to move out of the US on in some cases out of business.
I am all for good pay that is based on skill and productivity. People need to learn how to work. Learn the skills needed for a better paying job.
I am all for people having a nice home and car.
But people need to learn to PAY AS YOU GO. Buy what you can afford and pay for. Save for that home, car, vacation, or toy.
They need to learn the difference between needs and wants.
They need to burn every credit card they have.
