Maybe others have pictures of real old bears.

I'm a artophile, so really get into old stuffed animals.
He's handsome. (I want to say adorable, but some bears don't like girly-words for them. lol) I think he'd get along great with Joi's bear.I dont have a clue as to how I can upload a photo to this site . I dont have my own web page . all my photos are on my computer. Despite reading instructions all I seem to get is a box asking me for a URL. I have changed my profile picture to my Teddy just for your enjoyment and anyone else interested for a limited time only I hasten to add. His name 'Brumas' was taken from a Polar Bear at London Zoo.

I'm surprised too. British bears, (although the books are usually talking Merrythought bears), usually had ears on the sides of their heads. The Germans and Americans usually have them above the head. So yours is a special bear in more than one way.

I'm never going to be the one to tell you monetary value. (Probably did come from Asia, but even Asian teddies of that era have historic value. They were the next to get on the band wagon.) I prefer generational value. My grandmother let her granddaughters hug her childhood doll when we were sick. The one, who took to the doll, has it now. (Like Mom, I'm a tomboy, so neither one of us were interested. lol) She now has grandchildren, so I hope she does the same thing.I have no idea where he came from. Cash was tight in the early 50,s here. I suspect he was bought from a market and
originated from somewhere like Hong Kong. I dont think he is of any monetry value. For one thing his paws were replaced by my Mother at some stage and when you tipped him forward he growled although it sounded more like a sheep
it no longer works though.
That would have broken my hear too. When I asked my husband the name of the bear, he said he never named it. He just called it "bear". But that bear was the most special thing he had. The sad thing is that one day, when my husband was just a little boy, he cut the fringe off of his mother's bedspread (can't remember why) and this bedspread was probably handmade.
So his mother cut the ears off of his favorite bear (I still cringe at the thought!). And that was probably the first major heartbreak of his life.
Later his mother patched up the ears as you see here and on through the years, she just kept patching the parts that wore out.

Yeah. Dad threw out most of my childhood toys too. I think that's what dads are supposed to do.dad threw everything out. not trying to be mean, it's just the way he was.
i am left with memories, though, and so i shall be content.

Stuffies should be passed along to the child who realizes its full value.
